Fat Tuesday

Hi everyone! Today is Mardi Gras so several of my kitties have agreed to pose with beads. First though, Joanie wants to tell you about her new food. I know dry food is not recommended, but that is all Joanie can eat. She has yacked up every canned food I tried on her and she tends to eat the dry too fast and yack that up too. When my friend told me about PawTree and sent me a sample for Joanie I was thrilled.

*Disclosure: I was sent a sample of PawTree Real Chicken Recipe for cats. I was not asked to do a review, but I am choosing to. All opinions are my own.

As you can see in the photo, the pieces are small. She usually eats out of a bowl, but I thought it would be easier to see the food this way. It is made in the USA. No corn, wheat or soy. You can check out all the facts by clicking here. The link goes directly to my friend’s PawTree page so she can get a commission on sales. They have several other flavors too and canned food which I will be ordering for Joanie to test soon.  Joanie has been eating this for a few weeks and so far, no yacking- knock on wood , 3 times. My only complaint is shipping costs, but Joanie is worth it. Now on to the beads!

Joanie and Gremmie

Who wore them best? No one can top Angel Lucy from 2015. She earned her beads.

Thankful Thursday

Hi everyone! We are joining Brian’s Thankful Thursday Blog Hop

I am thankful for all these free magazines I got from the local library. Every January, they give away the previous year’s magazines. Once I look through them, I will pass them along to others.

Here is our poem for Sammy’s Poetry Day based on this photo prompt. :

This suit makes me hot and clammy,
kind of like August in Miami.
I can barely breathe when wearing the head,
putting it on in the morning is something I dread.
Right now jobs are hard to find,
I am in a bit of a financial bind.
I can’t believe I went to college for this
I guess it is better than performing a bris.

Here are the Friendly Fill-Ins for tomorrow. Mom came up with the first two and our co-host, Lorianne of Four-Legged Furballs came up with second two.

Caturday Saturday

Hi everyone! We are joining Athena’s Caturday Art Blog Hop and The Pet Parade.

KaTwo wanted to make some new year art. Some have asked how she is doing. So far, she is symptom free and enjoying her life ( knock on wood , 3 times ). She plays a lot. I check the lumps about once a week and now there are 3 little ones, but they are still small and will hopefully stay that way for a long time.

Right now some of the kitties seem to have a cold. Trouble has had the sneezes for a few days and a runny eye. Now Brody and Drake have it too. If anyone gets sicker, we will be off to the vet.

Thankful Thursday

Hi everyone! We are joining Brian’s Thankful Thursday Blog Hop.

We are thankful that Moo is home. After a little rest, she will be heading out again. Also thankful that Trouble is not a tree climber. She was checking out the light cord ( it wasn’t plugged in), but Penny caught her and gave her quite a chase.

Here is our poem for Sammy’s Poetry Day based on this photo:

The street is a long way down,
we are definitely not in a town.
Why are we up here?
I want to be a sightseer.
Let’s go see Rockefeller’s  Christmas tree
then ice skate, I will try not to fall on my knee.
Then we can take a bus tour to Dyker Heights*
to see all the Christmas Lights.
In 2010, my hubby took me to NYC so we could go on the Christmas Light and Cannoli Tour. Dyker Heights is a neighborhood in Brooklyn that really knows how to decorate. I wish I knew where they bought their decorations because I have never seen any like these anywhere.
Here are the Friendly Fill-Ins for tomorrow. Mom came up with the first two and our co-host, Lorianne of Four-Legged Furballs came up with second two.

The Year of Living Happily

Hi everyone! We are joining Comedy Plus’ Awww….Mondays and Book Date’s It’s Monday! What Are YOU Reading?

The Year of Living Happily Finding Contentment and Connection in a Crazy World by Alli Worthington is a wonderful guide to help find your way to happiness.

*Disclosure: I received this book for free as part of The Book Look Bloggers book review program. I am not required to write a positive review, all opinions are my own.

KaTwo is my book model.

I had never heard of Alli Worthington. Apparently I have been hiding my head in the litter box once again. She has written two other successful books prior to this one. She also hosts a weekly podcast. On top of all that, she is a very involved mom to 5 boys.

The Year of Living Happy is an easy read. There are 100 “lessons” in it. Each is a page and a half long and includes a quote from The Bible. At the end of the page is a question to get you thinking of how this lesson applies to your life. There is space to record your answer and use it as a journal too.

For example, she quotes scripture, “By their fruit you will recognize them.” She then tells us to write down the fruit we want to see in our heart and life. On another page, she wants us to think of something perfectly imperfect in our life right now.

Most of these are simple lessons we have all heard before, but tend to forget. There are several lessons reminding us to be thankful and forgiving. She also suggests relaxing, recharging our batteries, breathing deeply and simple ideas we are often to busy to think about.

I think this would be a great gift for any woman ( sorry guys, this one is geared for women) in your life that needs to slow down. It is a beautiful book/journal with a pretty ribbon book mark built-in. There is also a spot in the front of the book with a presented to -from-date which would really personalize your gift.

My only complaint was a typo I found. The word quiet was spelled quit. I know that is not a big deal, but I expect more of a larger publisher.

KaTwo Update

Hi everyone. KaTwo had her appointment with the surgeon. I was hoping he would say lipomas ( fatty tumors), but he is pretty sure she is in the 90% with aggressive malignancies. Her x-ray did not show that it had spread, but one lymph node is effected. The lymph node is nowhere near the tumors though, it is near her heart. The surgeon told me it could be from another cancer or something else.

The two tumors feel like they have grains of couscous in them ( that is how he described them). He said pushed together they would equal the size of a grape. Her heart is also enlarged which poses a question of how she would do with surgery. This could be from her hyperthyroid which is still high. I am going to start giving liquid meds for that instead of transdermal because apparently they don’t always work and she is impossible to pill.

I need to decide whether to have her get the surgery which would remove the entire “chain” of four on her left side. He couldn’t tell me of any great outcomes because he does about two a year and most follow up with a regular vet. From what I have read, she could have six months or a year after this surgery because it always returns. It all depends on if there is something hidden in there that has spread and how aggressive it is. I am trying to debate about quantity over quality.

My mom went with me and she thinks I should let her be. My mom is always right ; her instinct is better than mine. So I am leaning that way, but then I will always wonder what if I had done the surgery? I am also an optimist and still have hope in the 10% that these are benign.

I welcome any suggestions/input. I know some of you weighed in last week and I appreciate that. Please keep KaTwo in your prayers. Thank you.
