Thankful Thursday

We are joining Brian’s Thankful Thursday Blog Hop

Hi everyone, Emmy here, I refused to open my eyes for the photo. I am punishing mom for schlepping me off to the cardiologist yesterday. It is a whole hour away! Right across the street is a butterfly conservatory and my folks wouldn’t take me. They claim no pets are allowed- I call that discrimination.

My heart is pretty much the same with a mild increase in left atrial size, but I am stable.. I will take my meds every 12 hours now instead of every 24. I don’t need to go back for another check for 9 whole months though.Mom is thankful that I am not significantly worse. She is also thankful that we have such a good cardiologist available for me.

KaTwo is mom’s reading buddy so she is thankful to have her very own library card to Amber’s library. If you love to read, you can get one too. Click here. We love Amber’s book reviews and look forward to her reviewing Prancie’s Prayer.

Here is my poem for Sammy’s Poetry Day to go with this photo:

crisp fall air is here
leaves of orange and red too
sit here and enjoy
Here are the Friendly Fill-Ins for tomorrow. Mom came up with the first two and our co-host, Lorianne of Four-Legged Furballs came up with second two.

  1. I’m glad to hear that you had a fairly good report. Sorry you have to take meds more often. I hope you don’t put up a fight about them. Buddy has to take some meds for his kidney disease and he is not polite about it at all.

  2. That is a nice poem, Emmy. I love the colorful leaves, too. I am glad that you are not significantly worse, too. What a blessing to have a good cardiologist and such loving parents.

I’m sorry that you didn’t get to go to the butterfly conservatory. That would have been such fun!

We look forward to Prancie’s Prayer, too. What fun!

    Have a blessed Thursday. 🙂

  3. YAY Emmy! Glad your heart is ticking just fine…..I know it’s no fun going to the vet but it’s impawtant to make sure you’re doing well. Now you can NAP comfortably without a vet visit hanging over your head. Mom and I like the pretty haiku your Mom wrote for Angel Sammy’s poetry challenge – it goes with the photo PURRRFECTLY!

    Hugs, Teddy

  4. Emmy,
Yay 3 beautifully descriptive lines for our poetry challenge.
Take it easy sweetie we are happy to hear things are stable
    Hugs Madi your bfff

  5. Ellen,

I’m glad Miss Emma is stable. How old is she? Don’t tell her I asked. I know how some gals are about their age. 🙂 Sammy’s fall poem makes me smile. I’m looking forward to the changes to come. It’s funny I noticed a bit of bright color while at DH’s appointment on Monday. I thought it odd to see some so soon. Typically this time of year we’ll see some muted colors due to the heat but the flash of red/orange caused me to wonder if Old Man Winter is going to rear his head in an ugly way this year. I hope not. Have a good weekend, my friend. I can’t believe it’s almost here. I’m not complaining after the hairy week we’ve had after last weekend of travels and no sleep. TTFN!

    1. Emmy showed up last year and she is older, the vet guessed her to be anywhere from 6-14. I am thinking at least 10. I know she is arthritic and has the heart issues. I hope you have a nice weekend too. XO

  6. Emmy, I’m glad your heart is stable, but don’t understand why you sound like an hour car ride is a bad thing… not going to the butterfly exhibit is surly discrimination, but car rides are fun!

  7. Good to hear that you’re okay, Emmy! Cars rides in general can be quite stressful for cats. Longer ones are even worse. But sometimes we need to do that to keep you kitties healthy!

  8. Emmy, good to hear that you don’t have to go back for 9 months, but you be a good kitty and take your meds! And yes, I agree, not allowing cats into the butterfly enclosure is discriminatory, but good luck with finding legal representation! You are a cutie!

  9. Emmy, that isn’t too bad of a report. Not worse is always better than the alternative. Good luck with the med regimen change.

That bench looks very inviting for a nice rest on a foggy day.

  10. The nerve of taking you to within inches of them highly chasable little critters who try to eat all the nip and Mrs H’s lettuce.
Mind you, the fact you got to see your esteemed consultant and are doing OK and stable seems like cause for celebration. Maybe push fora pizza tonight and some extra treats?

  11. Hello Emmy,
That’s nice if it is stable. You are lucky to have a good vet near by. 1 hour away is not that far if it’s a specialist and a good one.
A butterflies conservatory ! That sounds really fun. Your mum is really not nice too you. You deserve a visit to this conservatory…

  12. Great on the good report and not having to go back for 9 months is even better. It’s a shame you couldn’t visit the butterflies though.

Have a purrfect Thankful Thursday. My best to your peeps. ♥

  13. Emmy, you are a very good poet! You would also be a great butterfly admirer if you were ever given the chance.

Hope the new medication schedule keeps you stable for a long time to come.

    1. Thank you. I should file a discrimination suit against the butterfly place. That would be interesting to see 🙂

  15. Emmy, I am so glad that you are still doing well. We’re still sending you lots of purrs and prayers, though! KaTwo, a library card is one of the best things you can own. Reading is such a wonderful way to pass time, especially when you have a reading buddy. In fact, Thimble is on my lap as we read your poem, which is perfect for autumn! Happy Thursday!

  16. We are happy to hear Emmy that you are still doing well. We hope everything will be great until you go back in nine months. We are very thankful for the news. Amber’s library card is the best thing we saw all day. So cute!!! Thanks for the share. The fall season is just around the corner.

  17. We agree – it’s such a wonderful thing that kitty cardiologists exist. I was so lucky to have one locally when Tara needed it. Glad you’re continuing to do well!

  18. Glad you are doing okay. We love your poem

We won’t be pawticipating in the Fill-ins tomorrow because it’s the anniversary of our Daddy going to heaven.

  19. I sure hope you get a treat after your meds. I get meds every 12 hours and my mom gives me a treat afterward. Signed, Benny

  20. I’m glad that you have such a good cardiologist – and that’s great you don’t have to go back for another nine months! Maybe you can sneak into the butterfly conservatory next time.

  21. Emmy, You are VERY beautiful and I like that your eyes are squeezed shut just like mine!

Also, we hope you all noticed that special blue toy in my picture today! XOXOXOXO

  22. That bench looks like a lovely place to sit and enjoy the beauty of fall! We are so glad your appointment went well, Emmy.

  23. We think it’s pretty inappropriate for your humans to call you a pet. After all, we are the superiors in the relationship. Purrs, Snoops and Kommando Kitty

  24. We’re so glad all is okay with you Emmy. You are very blest indeed. Mommy purrays daily we never need a specialist, cuz we don’t have any. Big hugs

    Luv ya’
