Thankful Thursday and More

Hi everyone! I got to see my Grammie Wednesday- I love her so very much. And she brought me treats and said that I don’t have to share.

I am so thankful for my Grammie that I am joining Brian’s Thankful Thursday Blog Hop. I am also thankful that a foster home from a shelter was available for me when I needed it so I am going to participate in a cool fundraiser that I read about on The Pet Blog Lady. A 18 year old dog named Morgan was in need of a home so the foster family is going to keep him. He turns 19 in March so they are asking everyone to send him a card and possibly a dollar for the shelter. I am giving one of my very own dollars and Mom and Grammie are too. For all the information, click on the link above.

And now for my poem for Sammy’s Poetry Day, featuring the letter K.

KaChoo
Mom’s first cat you were
you taught her to treasure every purr.
You were from a litter of six
3 orange, 2 tabby , 1 gray-quite a mix.
You preferred blue to pink,
your tail had a kink.
You were with her for 16 years
for you, Mom still sheds tears.
I am glad I got to know you too,
my sweet sister KaChoo.

KaChoo was a sweet sister, not to be confused with KaTwo-not so sweet.

Mom is joining Wandering Through the Shelves Movie Picks again. This week is the TMP Television edition: Super powers/superheroes.

  1. Grimm: Excellent show that is sadly ending after 6 seasons. Grimm is a homicide detective that can see the creatures hidden inside of normal looking people.
  2. Pushing Daisies ( 2007-2009): A quirky show that only had 22 episodes. Ned, has the ability to touch anything ( person, fruit, etc) dead and bring it back to life-but, if he touches it again it is dead forever.
  3. The Flash: Currently on the CW, I chose it because my hubby watches it so I do to once in a while plus we call Joanie, The Flash because she comes running from anywhere when she hears treats being dispensed.

Thursday Movie Picks

One more thing….The Friendly Fill-Ins for tomorrow. Mom came up with the first 2 and Annie of McGuffy’s Reader came up with the second 2.

1. I wish _____________________________ would come back in style.

2. I always have _____________________ in my purse ( or wallet for men).

3. I think that I                            .

4.                                     is a pet peeve of mine.

PS: Penny still hasn’t peed in her box- did one of you tell her about the contest?

  1. Wow, you have a lot going on today!
It’s really neat that Morgan is retiring with his foster family. He’s a funny looking dog with that tooth poking out! It’s very nice of you to send his rescue organization some of your dollars.

  2. You are so lucky to have not only your Grammie AND treats but also your own green papers. Our mom doesn’t give us any. Hmpf. PS: Mom used to luff Grimm – Renard is her favorite – but it got ridiculous in the last couple of seasons.

    1. I earn my green papers by pole dancing and begging Grammie 🙂 Grimm has gotten strange, but we kept watching.

  3. Hi Phoebe! You know who used to like Pounce treats a lot? Angel Jewel! So enjoy some in her honor, if you will, please. 🙂 We hope you are all well <3

  4. Wow….what a cool fundraiser for a most special elderly pup! Nice of you to spread the word………..also you did a GREAT job in the poem telling us how special your Mom’s first kitty KaChoo was. My Mom says she remembers her first kitty and considering my Mom is about a gazillion years old that’s pretty good! HAHA

    Love, Angel Sam

Happy Thursday and thanks for joining in with the poetry today!

    1. Thank you 🙂 I am getting to be quite the poet, but will never be as good as you Angel Sammy. XO

  5. Your Grammie sure is fantastic, Phoebe. And you know what else is fantastic? That poem you wrote for sweet KaChoo. I must say that I loved the show Pushing Daisies, and I rarely find anyone else who’s even heard of it! And, as always, these fill-ins look so fun!

    1. Thank you, I am glad you liked my poem. Apparently not too many liked the show because it didn’t last long. We look forward to your fill-ins.

  6. Always good to hear that you have seen your Grammie! Wonderful poem for KaChoo! Haha about Penny not peeing in her box… no, I am not gloating… 🙂 I know you said she could pee in it an any time! CH loved Pushing Daisies!

    1. It is like Penny is purposely not peeing in the box 🙂 Pushing Daisies was a great show.

  7. We will be sending Morgan a card in celebration of his 19th birthday. Thanks for sharing.

  8. Ohhhh what a info packed post….we love your K poem

Lucy moved to Colorado….long story short. She was adopted by my Uncle who was a confirmed bachelor…at age 52 he met his lady love. He found out she was allergic to cats. Fast forward 2 years they were engaged. My uncle found a very nice young couple (he was a grad student at NCSU) to adopt Lucy. They moved to Colorado for his Post Doc.
    hugs madi your bfff

    1. Thank you for the information on Lucy. I am glad she got a good home, but I would have kept her and ditched his lady love 🙂

  9. I know when you start off your post with you saw your Grammie that it’s a good day. Excellent.

Have a purrfect day. My best to your peeps. ☺

  10. KaChoo was gorgeous! We love tabby tuxies!!! I knew Penny could be a lady-cat when she wanted to be! Good on you, sweetheart! Mom loved the show Pushing Daisies and was sad it ended. One of these day’s we’ll join the Thursday Movie hop. We love you and we are slowly getting caught up on all our emails! (We are more than a week behind!)

    1. We know your Mom is busy so no worries about the emails. The movie hop is fun 🙂 Penny is doing well with no peeing. XO

  12. Ellen, loved today’s poem contribution. I got a chuckle out of the kitty’s tail have a kink. I started watching Grimm but when DH got laid off I put it on the backburner. I think I’ll wait to resume because I want to get DH involved in the series from the beginning. I don’t mind going through it with him. He’s worth it! 🙂 Flash is on our watch list the other I haven’t heard of but it sounds interesting. Too bad it only lasted a short run, though. Don’t you just hate that? Got your fill-ins earlier today. My post is ready to go at midnight! Have a good afternoon!

    1. Flash is still on, it is Pushing Daisies that got cut after 2 years. Grimm would be good to binge watch because it is easy to forget things from one season to the next.

  13. Where are all you guys getting money? Do you take it out of your Mom’s purse? I don’t have any to send anywhere – but as soon as Mom does, I’ll get her to send some to help kitties who need homes. I can’t even imagine how awful it would be to be homeless.

Thanks for popping over to introduce yourself on Bacon’s Spotlight today. That was great of you. Mom’s allergic to kitties, so I never knew how sweet you are.
    Woof! TINK

    1. Nice to meet you Tink, sorry your Mom is allergic to kitties. I am a pole dancer ( my carpeted tree) and make money doing that.

  14. Such a sweet poem about your sister, i’m glad you were able to get to know her. Fabulous news that the dog is going to get to stay with the fosters!

  16. That is so cute! I love the picture with you & the treats from Grammie. Nice poem, too. KaChoo was a pretty girl! I think the only super-hero movie I have seen were the first couple of Batman movies! See you tomorrow! HUGS!

  17. Pushing Daisies is a great pick! Never occurred to me but I loved that show, so off-kilter and charming in a weird way. Never watched Grimm though my sister is a fan and I picked the earlier version of The Flash which was shortlived but very enjoyable.

    My three:

The Tick (1994-1996)-Ridiculously amusing animated series about a somewhat thick superhero clad in a bright blue costume along with his moth costume wearing sidekick Arthur, who has a wry, patient attitude with his often lunk-headed compatriot fights the bad guys in “The City”. They blunder about but still somehow manage to say the day. What else is there to say about a superhero whose call to arms is “SPOON!”

The Flash (1990-1991)-When Barry Allen (John Wesley Shipp), a forensic police scientist, suffers a freak accident being struck by lightning and covered in chemicals at the same time a chain reaction occurs giving him super human powers and the ability to move at the speed of sound. While learning how to control his new found powers a calamity occurs which sets him on the path to be the protector of the good people of Central City. Short-lived series had a nice sense of humor mixed in with its action sequences.

The Greatest American Hero (1981-1983)-After a chance encounter with aliens in the desert late at night where he is gifted with a magical red suit high school teacher Ralph Hinkley (William Katt) along with fellow witness FBI man Bill Maxwell (Robert Culp) attempt to fight crime using the suit’s powers. A couple of problems present themselves right away, Ralph and Bill are a silk and sandpaper match and even more troubling the pair have lost the instructions for the suit so they have to puzzle out how it works as they go along leading to trouble and a lot of bruises for Ralph. Engagingly played by Katt & Culp along with Connie Sellecca as Ralph’s girlfriend Pam.

    1. I didn’t know about the other Flash, I will see if I can get it on DVD from Netflix. Pushing Daisies was quirky, but so good.

  18. Oh my, mom is a little misty eyed at KaChoo’s poem. A lovely poem….thank you.

I like Grimm…the flash is ….all right but got confusing after awhile.

    Thanks for the fill-ins.

    Shoko

  19. Phoebe, it’s so sweet of you and your mom and grammie to send a card and some money to Morgan and his shelter. KaChoo was darling. Your poem about her is so sweet.

The lady and big guy have watched some of The Flash and like it a lot. It’s funny to think of Joanie as The Flash for treats.

  20. Your pussy cats are so cute and so happy that the one has a home and the doggie is being cared for. Your poem is sweet but sad and I miss my Katie, my black lab. I love Grimm! I am an avid watcher and can’t wait. It very sad that it is ending. I want to know how they will end this and I hope on a good note and am hoping the Captain comes to his senses. I didn’t watch the other 2 but sometimes the best shows are cancelled early. As for the fill-ins…..I wish gloves would come back. It always looked so elegant when women wore gloves out plus it helps to not get colds.

    1. Thank you. I am sorry about Katie. We had a black lab named Katie that went to The Bridge in 2011. I hope Grimme ends well too.

  21. Gosh! What a newsy post! mes LOVES it! And mes LOVES your poem. Thanks for telling us a little about KaChoo! And Grimm is ending!?!? Oh No!!! Me and Mommy LOVES it!
    Many Kisses
    Nellie
