Thankful for Black Cats

Hi everyone! We are joining Brian’s Thankful Thursday Blog Hop. I am thankful for my black cat, Trouble ( who is no trouble at all).

And for all the black cats I have had the pleasure of owning who are sadly all angels now.  Jinx. Tallulah, Noel, Spooky and Drake.

In honor of black cats everywhere, we are having a giveaway for a catnip mat with black cats on it and a zippered pouch that also has black cats on it. Trouble didn’t want to pose so Joanie volunteered.

I can only afford to send it in the USA, but anyone can enter. If you win and you live in another country, I will email you a $5 gift card and let you choose a winner in the US. Just leave a comment on today’s post by Saturday 9PM ( EST) telling us if you ever had a black cat.

We are also joining Angel Sammy’s Poetry Day.  And here is the photo prompt provided:

I’ve gotten myself into quite the pickle.
Help me out and I’ll give you a nickel.
If I hadn’t called my big bro a swine
he probably wouldn’t have hung me on this clothesline.
Here are the Friendly Fill-Ins for tomorrow. I came up with the first two and my co-host, Lorianne of Four-Legged Furballs came up with second two.
1. A sight I would like to unsee is __________________________.
2. I plan to __________________________ before the summer is over.
3. I sometimes forget that _________ isn’t considered normal by most.
4. If my life were a book, the current chapter I’m in would be titled _________.

  1. Love the giveaway and the prize(es) are great too. Daisy Mae saw that giveaway and then saw the catnip pad and said I want one like that Mom.
Here’s to black cats everywhere including the angels.

  2. Black cat Angel Eli’s hung out at my yard and house. He brought gifts weekly. My Angel Zipper was black and white and sweet.

  3. Funny poem and cute pictures, Ellen. I adore black cats and think they are extra beautiful; and I love all cats. I’m pretty old so I’ve had lots of black cats. Ligeia, Yeti, Cullen, Minx, Little Buddy, Ultraviolet, Franklin, Boss, Moonpie, and Uncle Jack (feral), and some blk and wte tuxies; and many cats of other colors and patterns too. All lovely kitties! XO

  4. Oh, Trouble, what a beauty, and how kind of Joanie to step in and pose. And oh, what wonderful black kitties you have loved.

  5. Lovely photos of Trouble and your Angels. Great poem too.

  6. Love the poem! I had a little brother and I can think of a few times I would have liked to have put him on the clothesline to keep him out of my way when I had my friends over as a kid! I’ve never had a black cat because I developed a real “thing” for gingers right from the start….but I think black cats are gorgeous!!

    Hugs, Pam

  7. Oh you naughty boy…MOL…that was a fun poem😸
Love to see all of you sweet Angels and beautiful Trouble. We have two black aunties living with our sistur, and we love them😻Double Pawkisses for a Happy Day to all of you🐾😽💞

  8. I love black cats! Quite some time ago, I had 2 black cats along with 2 sealpoint Siamese. The black cats were shorthairs and gorgeous. At the time we adopted Callie, I was looking for a black cat but Callie stuck her paw out of her cage and meowed at us. That was all it took for us to adopt her. Callie is a tortie and her most of her fur is black.

  9. LOL LOL LOL Ellen
Bryan and I giggled at this and something similar to this probably happened at his house. He is 5 years older than his brother
