The Little Book of Bob: Life Lessons from a Street-wise Cat

Hi everyone! I have a great book to review today. At the end of the post, I have an update on Noel and Prancie and the winner of the Pirate giveaway.

*Disclosure- I was given a copy of The Little Book of Bob: Life Lessons from a Street-wise Cat by James Bowen in exchange for a fair review. All opinions are my own.

I am sure you have all heard of Bob. You have probably read A Street Cat Named Bob or have seen the film. As you know, Bob is an English cat that rescued his human at the same time his human rescued him. This book is short, only 166 pages, but filled with wisdom. The wisdom of Bob and what he has taught James in their years together.

Prancie thinks they may be cousins

I think we would all agree that our cats have taught us how to appreciate life. Bob has done the same for James. Some things he writes about are Our happiness lies within and believe in yourself. He goes on to explain how Bob taught these lessons.

I highly recommend this book for all fans of Bob and cat lovers in general. Release date is October 22nd, you can pre-order on Amazon, click here.

We are joining Comedy Plus’ Awww….Mondays and Book Date’s It’s Monday What are YOU Reading?

The winners of The Pirate Day giveaway are Charlee and Chaplin of Oceanside Animals. Congratulations!

Noel is hanging in there still. We got very bad news about Prancie this past Friday. The ultrasound showed a tumor on her liver and her gallbladder. The internist feels it is cancer, but the only way to be sure is biopsy and she is to frail for that. She is on prednisone and continuing with fluids. We are praying it buys several months of time. Our hearts are broken. We can’t imagine a world without Prancie in it.

I will try to blog on Thursday and Friday all depending how these two are doing.

Thankful Thursday

Hi everyone. I am still mostly taking a break, but I wanted to join Brian’s Thankful Thursday Blog Hop and Meow Like a Pirate Day! Noel is still  hanging in there ( knock on wood, 3 times). Prancie gave us quite a scare last Friday and she is still not back to her old self. She has an ultrasound Friday. Her kidneys have gotten worse since February, but not enough to have gotten her so dehydrated. We are very worried. She is such a good patient and takes the fluids well. I am thankful she is still with us too.

Joanie and Gremmie are really into Pirate Day.

Noel wanted to join in too.

Emmy was not thrilled to pose ( as you can see by my arm). We are having a giveaway for Pirate Day. The prize is a copy of Emmy’s book and a Pirate print catnip mat. Sorry I can only afford to ship in the US. To enter just comment on this post before Sunday at 9 PM 9 EST). Winner will be announced Monday ( unless one of my kitties gets sicker).

We are also joining   Sammy’s Poetry Day. Here is my poem to go with this photo prompt.

My ship has sunk
I need to get drunk
I want to sail with the captain with the rum
Captain Morgan will make me less glum
Here are the Friendly Fill-Ins for tomorrow. I came up with the first two and our co-host, Lorianne of Four-Legged Furballs came up with second two. I hope to post tomorrow, depending on the kitties.

Thankful Thursday

Hi everyone. I am still taking a break, but I wanted to join Brian’s Thankful Thursday Blog Hop. Noel is hanging in there ( knock on wood, 3 times). I  have no idea how long she will be with us. She amazes me. She is so frail, but eats most of the time and moves around quite a bit. I thought we were going to have to help her to The Bridge this week, I am glad that hasn’t happened yet. I still plan to keep spending a lot of time with her. I am thankful that I can be home most of the time with no other commitments.

I also wanted to join  Sammy’s Poetry Day.  Pam was so sweet to use a photo I offered her of an odd vehicle that used to go by my house. I thought it would make a fun poetry prompt. It is actually called a velomobile. Click here to learn more.

Every day when I went to get my mail
this rode by without fail.
I was surprised to find out it is a bike
nothing you would drive on the turnpike
You can buy a kit to make it yourself
but to fit inside you need to be the size of an elf
Lorianne of Four-Legged Furballs,my co-host has kindly offered to come up with all 4 fill-ins for Friday and host it herself this week so be sure to visit her blog to get the statements.
I am hoping to visit blogs, but I will be sporadic for now. Thank you all for your kind comments, purrs and prayers on Monday’s post.

Taking a Break

I am going to take a break from blogging to spend every moment with Noel. I fear the end is near and we are going to have to make that awful decision this week. She is just fur and bones. I can see she is getting weaker  by the day so I plan to spend all my time with her until the end.

This photo was taken on September 1st and she has rapidly declined since. I am hoping she will rally for a while, but I am also realistic.

Friendly Fill-Ins Week 171

Hi everyone! Time for the Friendly Fill-Ins. Please leave your link (at bottom of post) here or at my co-host’s Four-Legged Furballs. You can also answer in the comment section. Thank you to all who participate. Don’t forget to add your link to the hop so everyone can visit you.

1. I am a stickler for ___________________.
2. By the end of August, I plan to ____________________.

3. _________ is my favorite thing about myself.
4. These days, my biggest priority is _________.
My answers:
1. I am a stickler for thank-you cards/notes.I always send them and I get annoyed when others don’t for things like weddings and showers.
2. By the end of August, I plan to still have Noel with me. I am really trying to be positive, but her appetite comes and goes now which scares me.
3. My optimism is my favorite thing about myself.
4. These days, my biggest priority is Noel.
Noel enjoyed The Great One’s visit. I told her to be very gentle and she was. She kept bringing her toys. And she even wanted a photo with her which is very unusual. She wanted her to have the crown to be the queen.

Sunday Selfies

We are joining The Cat on My Head’s Sunday Selfie Blog Hop.

Another shot of Sammy enjoying corn on the cob ( he only gets a little). He seems to prefer the Silver Queen to the Butter and Sugar variety. He never bugs us for any meat or other people food, just corn on the cob.

Every morning Prancie and Brody patiently wait for a taste of butter.

Don’t forget to enter our Black Cat giveaway ( see yesterday’s post).

Black Cat Appreciation Day

We are joining Athena’s Caturday Art Blog Hop and The Pet Parade. Today is a special day to celebrate black cats everywhere. They are least likely to be adopted from shelters. I am the proud mom to four and I have two angels too. I used Pizap to make a collage of my four.

Noel is sticking her foot out, Drake is in his bed, Jinx is being held by his Dad and Trouble is on the rug.

Then I went to Fotor and made the collage into art. I also made it into  a puzzle ( see below)

And to celebrate Black Cat Appreciation Day we are having a giveaway.

Noel is posing with the prizes. A catnip mat with black cats printed on it, 2 black cat clips that can be used to hold bags of food shut and a gray mousie from IKEA. All you have to do it comment on this post before Monday at 9PM (EST). Sorry I can only afford to ship in the USA. If you do not live in the USA, you can enter and if you win, pick a friend from the USA . If you live in a country that says you need to do something to enter, put the answer to 5+7 in your comment.
