Hi everyone! Here is part 3 ( of 3) of the cats’ letters to Santa. They re not clear to read in the photos so you can read them under each photo.

Jinx: I want the usual- a glitter ball. Thank you.

Drake: I have all I need. I think you should bring my old family coal though. In 2 and a half years, they haven’t even asked about me.

Brody: I want my own bag of treats. I will share with Trouble though Thank you.

Polar Bear: I am still waiting for the venison I asked you for last year.

I Give My Cats Aspirin

Hi everyone! Poor Penny is being bumped today. I want to pass some important information along to all of you.

I have always read that aspirin is a no-no for cats so I was shocked when Emmy’s cardiologist prescribed one half of a baby aspirin twice a week. She is also on two heart medicines.

Sammy has a murmur so he went to the same cardiologist for an echocardiogram and was also prescribed the same aspirin regimen. Then I went to the regular vet with Polar Bear. I recently changed all the cats over to this new place because I was unhappy with the care at VCA. Well, this new vet ( new to us, she has been in business over 20 years) recommended the aspirin for him too. Polar Bear has a thyroid problem like Sammy and also has a murmur ( all my hyperthyroid cats have murmurs). This vet gives all her hyperthyroid cats a whole baby aspirin twice a week. I am staying cautious and only doing the half twice a week.

The reason this was prescribed was because hyperthyroid cats with murmurs are more prone to blood clots. I had never heard this before. Has anyone else been told this? I am curious to know. Plus, if you haven’t been told this, I hope you will ask about it if your cat has these conditions. I also plan to ask if all my older cats should be given this like how aspirin is prescribed for older humans.

This is one of the gifts I gave my mom for her birthday. It is a travel mug from Summer’s Zazzle store. My mom is a big fan of Summer.

Stud Tail

Hi everyone! Poor Penny is going to be mad that I bumped her post for today. I want to tell you about Polar Bear’s recent issue. The poor guy already has feline herpes and a hyperactive thyroid.

When I adopted him 10 and a half years ago, he was not neutered. I was cat sitting in a not great neighborhood and I spotted him . I fed him and he kept waiting for me every day.  Being that he was fully grown and not fixed, I figured he was a stray so I took him- he did not object. I immediately brought him for FELV/FIV testing and to get neutered. His tail had what looked like black oil on it. I was told that happens to boys that are not fixed and it would clear up. It did after a while- and his male odor went away after a few smelly weeks.

Well now, all these years later, the oil is back.

It almost looks like flea dirt and there is one spot with what looks like a zit. The vet was confused and was going to research it, but I haven’t heard back ( in 2 weeks). I ended up doing my own research and found out it is called stud tail and it can happen to any cat even though it is more prevalent in unneutered males. Just as excess oil clogs pores in humans, it does the same in cats. Fortunately, he had an antibiotic shot for his herpes symptoms so that also helped this issue and it is clearing up. I also bought some wipes to keep it clean.

Has anyone ever had a cat with this issue?

The Catburry Bunny Auditions- Part 3

Hi everyone! Today is the last of our Catburry Bunny Auditions for this year. I saved the most difficult for last. I couldn’t even get the ears on Polar Bear and Noel.

Nellie was very cooperative

I used my mom’s cell phone to take a selfie with this cool Easter Bunny at Michael’s. I wonder if anyone is going to buy it for  $275?  I am 5’10” so this is a big bunny.

Caturday Saturday and Photo Fails

Hi everyone! We are joining Athena’s Caturday Art Blog Hop and The Pet Parade.

We used Lunapic to make Joanie a scary vampire. She wants to scare the vet tech that stole her blood on Thursday. The good news is all her blood work was great! Polar Bear’s was too. They both had senior wellness panels.

I forgot yesterday was The Pet Photo Fails Blog Hop so here are mine. Actually, they are The Great One’s. I let her take photos, but she holds it right up to her face and hasn’t caught on about looking at the screen to see what she is getting. I can’t wait until next Saturday when I will gift her with her first camera for her third birthday. It is for ages 3-7, and it is pink too 🙂
