Penny’s Tips Volume 4

Hi everyone! Welcome to my latest installment of Penny’s Tips. This is sort of a shared post with mom, it is her idea, but I improved on it.

She made an Advent calendar for us using a mini muffin pan that has 24 slots. Dad cut out the circles from scrapbook paper and she numbered them. She puts treats in for us for each day of December up until Christmas.

I think I will clean out the first slot while I am posing πŸ™‚ She makes this for us because the only Advent calendars around here have a piece of chocolate for every day.

If you want to make one for a child, but don’t want to have candy in all the slots, you can add stickers or PENNIES! ( see slot 2). And that is my tip for today.

We are joining Create with Joy’s Inspire me Monday’s Blog Hop. There are already over 200 holiday ideas linked up so be sure to check it out.

  1. What a fun, creative idea! I wonder if we would try to break into the days a little early! That is the type of thing we do around here.

  2. Your Mom is so clever – what a cool idea……my Mom thinks I’d be ripping all those tops off but she’s wrong – I think I could control myself if I had something FUN like that every day until Christmas!

    Hugs, Teddy

  3. This is such a fun and festive idea, Penny! I was able to find an advent calendar online for pup Astrid, with homemade treats. I was not successful in finding one for kitties, though, so I’m making one of my own. Since the kitties around here don’t all eat treats, their advent calendar is filled with toys. We are loving your tips, Penny!

    1. Astrid is lucky πŸ™‚ I know in England they have them for cats, but the shipping is cost prohibitive to get it sent here.

  4. What a great idea that is to have an advent calendar for the kitties. Bet they enjoy that. Ellen sure comes up with some great ideas. You all have a fun day.

  5. Oh wow that’s a fabulous idea – we love Penny’s Tips!

Must dash to see if the P.A. has the necessary materials to make it now MOL

    Big hugs

    1. I hope she makes you one. Although, I think there are ready made cat ones in your country πŸ™‚ XO

  6. That is REALLY cool! What a great idea. I grew up with Advent calendars each year (not the chocolate ones … the ones where you open a window each day – no goodies … just a picture or words). Having one for our cats is great! In the small town my father grew up in, there’s a Christmas store open year round (it claims to be the largest in the world) – it’s got acres and acres of ornaments, decorations, etc. They also have quite a few advent calendars – we’d always get ours there because no other store had more than one or two kinds so the pickings were a but slim anywhere else. 1. As I recall mine only had the words too- we got cheated. I love Bronner’s. I have never been , but I have ornaments from there. That must be a nice place to visit.

  8. Mom says that this looks like a super cool idea, but she needs more info. Does one kitty get all the treats on one day and another gets them the next day and so on. Or does each kitty when one treat per day? XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, angel Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo, Cooper Murphy and Sawyer

    1. I put 12 treats in each slot so each kitty gets one a day. They get more than that later though πŸ™‚ XO

  9. We’ve never unnerstood da advent calendar thingy. but hey, anytime ya’ get extra treats is a good thing. And, that’s really cool what y’ did fur the delivery peeps. It would get eaten here by the wildlife. Big hugs

    Luv ya’
