Here is a tip for Easter. You can use pennies to fill plastic eggs for an egg hunt instead of candy. This will only work for young kids though, older kids will think you are cheap. I recommend filling them with catnip too 🙂

 

 

And remember not to use that fake grass stuff because it is dangerous to us kitties.

  2. Penny is so smart! I want Cat Nip in my eggs! We have paper shreds for our Easter Baskets because Mom gave up plastic for Lent. She has been washing out the same 2 zipper bags and one sad piece of aluminum foil for her lunches. She also turned in her plastic tubs for glass ones. They DO have plastic lids, but it is the recyclable kind. She says it is hard to buy some stuff at the grocery store because almost everything comes in plastic.

  4. We always use the shredded paper type Easter grass here. My human was at Whole Foods tonight and she looked at the eggs because she wants to dye some this year – and they were ALL brown! No white eggs at all.

    1. That is smart of your human. Brown eggs are local eggs and local eggs are fresh 🙂

  6. I used to do the penny thing in Easter eggs for our neighbors’ kids but they’re too old to be “thrilled” with pennies…..Darn! It’s a great idea though for little ones.

  11. Pennies in the eggs are a great idea for children old enough to not put them in their mouths. Maybe all kinds of coins and an occasional dollar, with a fiver as the big prize for the one who finds the egg you really hide well. Most kids would go for that at any age.

  13. This is a purrfectly festive tip, Penny! I always give Easter baskets to the neighbor kids, and they get both candy and coins in their eggs. I’ll be sure to give them lots of pennies in honor of you, Penny!

  18. Great tips as usual. I didn’t know about the green grass that comes in Easter baskets though. I do now.

  23. I think that’s a great tip about the pennies in the eggs, Penny, but I think we have to fill the eggs with papurr, as the youngsters only want…hardware…Satisfaction is hard to find nowadays…MOL…you can fill mine with nip…lots of eggs…MOL 😀 Double Pawkiss for a Happy Day 🙂 <3

  26. That’s exactly what the peeps here do. They put a variety of pennies, nickles, dimes, and quarters in the eggs, and a few special eggs have a big green paper in them. If one of the kiddos finds that special egg, and then finds another, they have to leave the second one in place for another kiddo to find.

    Great idea. Now we want and egg hunt with a variety of yummy treats in them for us!!!

  30. Plastic eggs filled with the nip sounds DELIGHTFUL! Of course… Since we don’t have pennies here in Canada anymore (Don’t ask.), maybe the peeps could fill ’em with quarters or better yet, loonies and toonies? If I found a few of THOSE eggs, I could go buy the nip for myself! purrs

  33. We used to put pennies and other change in our kids’ plastic eggs and they were always so excited. We did have one prize egg with a dollar in it.

  36. Penny, I adore you. I actually had a calico named Drusilla Penny, when I was a teen. The catnip eggs were a hit here. Many years ago, we did that for our cats. You will have to let us know how it goes there! Anyway, I love your tips. You are such a smart girl, Penny. Hugs!

  37. Penny, not only are you smart, your are also beautiful! We always love your tips and now our Mama wants to put catnip in the Easter eggs! She has put dog treats in eggs in past years for the dogs but never thought of catnip for the kitties!! Thanks for the tip 🙂

  39. hello penny its dennis the vizsla dog hay hmm i herd my dada saying how wen he went owt to a bo … botanik … beatnikal … wel ennyway wen he went to a flour garden with my grandma and grandpa and auntie he fownd an eester eg wot had ben overlukd dooring the eester eg hunt but he did not pik it up figgering sum kid mite find it eventchooally!!! but now i heer it mite hav had munny in it??? hay dada maybe yoo shud stop telling me to git a job and start pikking up eester egs insted of leeving them lying arownd!!! ok bye
