Friday

Happy Friday everyone! Lucy doesn’t have a book to recommend this week, but she is thrilled because my article for this month’s Daily News is about her. I write a column about Life With 15 Cats and she was my second official kitty so it was her turn this month. Here is the link: http://www.thedailymews.com/articles/15-cats-and-meowing/1417-life-with-15-cats-part-3 .

It has been very cold lately so Lucy rarely leaves the heated throw for fear that another kitty will take it over: 002

The other day I came across The Story of a Street Cat Named Sabrina by Sheryl Lee. It was free on Amazon that day, but it is currently $2.99. This got my attention because I had a cat named Sabrina who passed away in 2012 ( of old age) : brina1

This was a short read of 39 pages that is based on the writer’s cat. She found her cat, Sabrina on the streets of Egypt as a kitten in very bad shape. She was thin, dirty and full of fleas and worms. I don’t like sad stories, but I am glad this had a happy ending for her kitty. It does break my heart to know that there are so many street cats in Egypt and no programs that are helping to TNR. A lot of people feed these cats which is kind of them, but I don’t know why no one can get a program started to get them fixed. Here is a link to the book:

  1. You’re very smart to bogart that heated throw, Lucy. I would too. Tell your Mom that, believe it or not, I’m Photoshopped into those pics. I didn’t go to PetSmart but I bet she knew that all along.

    1. I really did think you went to Petsmart, but I was wondering why you didn’t have a harness on 🙂

  2. Wow!!! A heated throw??? We could sure use that here in the frozen tundra. We wanted to go out this morning and when Mom opened the door and showed us that more of that white stuff had fallen, we just turned around and settled down on the chairs……without a heated throw. 🙂

    1. Glad you 2 decided to stay in where it is nice and warm. The heated throws are only about $25 at Target, tell your Mom to get you one.

  3. It’s always hard to read about cats in foreign countries. I know that human lives are devalued in some ways overseas which makes one know that the poor animals are even given less value. It’s all so sad when each life is so precious. Lucy is very wise and WARM! MOL

  4. Dear me it has been horribly cold for the Southern USA too. You all must be
    freezing twice as much

  7. I read your interesting story Lucy, but it doesn’t look like I can comment there. A heated throw sounds lovely. I think my mum should get me one.

    1. I think your Mum should get you one, you would love it. She could always put a heating pad on low inder a blanket for you. Thanks for reading Lucy’s story.

  8. We will go and read Lucy’s story! 🙂
There are so many “street”/feral cats all over the world who aren’t neutered/spayed..not just in Egypt!! I guess that is too sad to think about actually 🙁

Phoebe, do you think Lucy will let your prettyful self share that cosy heated throw with her?

the critters in the cottage xo

    1. Thanks for reading about Lucy. It is too sad to think about all the cats out there in such a bad way. Lucy shares with no one so Phoebe is out of luck, there is a heating pad set up too though that the others share 🙂

  9. Such a purrty kitty in that oh so luxurious heated throw!
We tend to be chewers and biters so this would not be too good fur us…but we know there are spawsial kitty beds with heaters in them…
But on the other paw, the peeps have heated blankies on their beds, maybe we should sneak up there…we are not allowed in the bedroom due to allergy issues…

    1. You poor kitties being deprived of a bed, you should have your own room. You get an extra entry for Phoebe’s compliment.

  10. Hi Ellen and Lucy! Thanks for stopping by StrangeRanger and commenting! It’s much appreciated.
Lucy, you look like the absolutely most comfy cat on earth! Maddie would have loved a heated throw over the past two weeks. Happily, it’s only once every decade or so that we get weather like that down here, and Maddie decided to be a cuddlebug and soak up some human warmth. Made us all happy.

    1. Thanks for visiting us too. Lucy ued to soak up my heat too, but now she only wants that blankie.

  11. It always makes us sad to know so many kitties go wiffout while we be so blest. But we fink they still worship cats in Egypt and so maybe they fink stoppin’ them fwum bweedin’ might bwing them a curse or sumfin’. Peeps can be very stwange and hav sum very weird ideas at times.

    Luv ya’

    Dezi and Lexi
