Thankful Thursday on New Year’s Eve

Hi everyone!  We are joining Brian’s Thankful Thursday Blog Hop . I am thankful that I finally have a fireplace. I don’t mind that it is fake, I don’t like the smell of wood burning anyway.

Rosie helped my hubby put it together which took a very long time. I went to my Dr.’s office on Monday to get my yearly blood work done. And today I had a voicemail that someone had been in that day and she called last night to say she tested positive for COVID so the office will be closed until January 11th. I called back and found out that person was there at 10 am, I had been a 9:30 so no worries about the COVID, I just need to reschedule the follow up I was supposed to have Monday.  I am thankful for that.

And Sammy is thankful for the giant floppy fish that our friend Purrseidon sent us. He refuses to share, although Emmy stole a turn one time when Sammy got up to use the litter box.

And all the cats are thankful to our friends Goro and Niko for the silvervine- 5 packets of it and 3 pretty mice. As you can see, Trouble is as high as a kite. She doesn’t like catnip, but she loves silvervine.

I am sorry I didn’t write a poem this week. I just couldn’t calm my mind long enough to think of one. Sometimes, I feel like there is a ping pong ball bouncing around in there.

Here are the Friendly Fill-Ins for tomorrow. I came up with the first two and my co-host, Lorianne of Four-Legged Furballs came up with second two. We realize many are busy for New Year’s, but the link stays open until Wednesday so you can always do them later.

  1. I’m so glad you missed being in the doc’s office as the same time as the person with Covid, Ellen! I hope that person recovers quickly! That’s a pretty fireplace and it was nice of Rosie to help put it together. Happy New Year!

  2. Oh, my, I sure bet you were feeling relieved to find out it was after your time in there…

What a nice fireplace,. Rosie must feel like she deserved the warmth after she helped, must be her wages earned, LOL! Now she has a closeup seat to the TV:)

    1. Thank you. I was hoping the higher tv stand would keep her away from the tv, but it did not deter her at all. XO

  3. I’m so glad you missed that Covid carrier! My human cringes every time she goes to the store, even though it is usually a half hour before it closes and nobody is in there except the cashiers.

  4. That was a close call on your doctor office visit…..we all are reminded we have to be careful 24/7 and that will continue into the new year. How wonderful you have a fireplace!!!! Unlike you, my Mom and Dad love the smell of firewood burning – we have a fire almost every night in the winter. Here’s to a wonderful NEW YEAR – let’s stay HOPEFUL.

Love, Teddy and Mom Pam too

  5. I like fake fireplaces too. They’re just as enjoyable as the real thing. So glad you had the early appointment and your safe. It’s scary going anywhere. Hope you and your husband and kitties have a nice New Years Eve.

  6. Those are really great thankfuls, especially avoiding the Covid, and that floppy fish is Simon’s fav. Thanks for joining our Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!

  7. Whew! The Timing Angel was certainly looking after you! The kitties are darling enjoying their new toys. Have a Happy New Year all!

  8. Charlee: “That was definitely good timing that you were at the office before the COVID patient!”
Chaplin: “Let’s hope that’s a harbinger for 2021! Happy impending New Year!”

  9. We have a fake fireplace too and I’m not a fan of burning wood either. It’s most wonderful to have on when it’s cold outside.

Kitties getting fun things to play with is a wonderful thing as well. Your babies are so precious.

I’m all ready for the Friendly Fill-ins. Great fill-ins.

Have a fabulous Thankful Thursday, Ellen. Scritches to all the kitties. ♥

  10. I love your new fireplace and that floppy fish is a keeper! Funny, none of the cats here are into silvervine…but they do like honeysuckle and catnip. Ellen, I empathize. I too have a brain that bounces around like a ping pong ball!
What would I have done without you my friends to make me laugh and wonder during these tough times. Here’s to many more years of friendship! Happy New Year
    Love Barb

    1. I have never tried honeysuckle on them. I am thankful for your friendship too. XO and love to you.

  11. Whew! on the covid scare! Love the fireplace, I am sure your hubby appreciated all of Rosie’s help. Lucky Sammy and Trouble with their gifts of fun. My mind has been doing okay but my stomach has been mistreated with all the rich FOOD! Happy New Year’s Eve!

  12. That was lucky that the person with Covid went in after you. When I had my pre op Covid test someone also tested positive that morning. I am glad I had booked an early appointment too.

  13. Wow, you just missed that person with COVID. Thank goodness!

Love your fireplace. We have one, too … we will have New Year’s Eve fire tonight.

  14. I’m happy to hear you don’t have to worry about exposure to COVID. I’m sure that’s a big relief. I’ll probably be late with my fill ins this week, but I’ll be posting. Happy New Year!

  15. Oh my, I’m glad you missed covid exposure! The floppy fish looks huge and fun! I’m glad Trouble is enjoying silvervine 🙂
Happy new year to you all!

  16. I too don’t like wood smoke! It’s an actual air pollutant.
You dodged a bullet, didn’t you?
    Happy New Year!
Wishing all joy, peace, and love.

  17. Happy New Year!! We value your friendship as well and we are grateful for you!!!! Your new post didn’t come up for me so that’s why I’m on this one!! xoxo

    1. Thank you. I value your friendship too. Sorry the new post didn’t show-wordpress gives me grief.
      Happy New Year! XO

  18. Mom thinks that she may have a ping pong bouncing in her mind sometimes, too. Maybe you both are just taking on too many projects. I suggest taking afternoon naps. Tee hee hee.
