Ten Things of Thankful

Hi everyone! We are joining Athena’s Caturday Art Blog Hop and Ten Things of Thankful.

For mt art, I made a puzzle of Sammy in his Easter hat. I guarantee you that you can beat my time of 18 minutes and 9 seconds.

And here are my thankfuls-

  1. Thankful that my church still blesses food for Easter, we are going this morning to get it blessed. When I was a kid. the priest used to come to the house to bless the food.
  2. Thankful Lent is almost over so I can indulge in chocolate and Doritos again.
  3. Pedicure with my mom.
  4. Chinese food lunch with my mom after pedicure.
  5. Tallulah had her checkup and her mouth has healed nicely.
  6. The checkup was free.
  7. Emmy is always on my lap, she is truly a lap cat now.
  8.  One morning this week, my hubby got up 2 hours before me and when I woke up, Joanie and Emmy were on the bed in close proximity with no problems.
  9. A surprise package from a friend came in the mail.
  10. Hubby and I made horseradish, we do that twice a year at Christmas and Easter.

    1. Thank you. Yes, it is hot. Well, it usually is. The one we made isn’t as hot as usual, not sure why

  1. Sammy, we luff your hat. It almost looks steampunk. Mom had no idea churches blessed food like that. She’s Southern Baptist. And if anyone deserves free vet stuff, it’s you!

    1. Sammy thanks you. We are Catholic, I don’t know if any other religions do this, it is a Polish tradition.XO

  2. Very cool puzzle with your Easter bonnet on Sammy! We did the puzzle in 15 minutes 11 seconds and it was FUN. Love all of your thankfuls but totally happiest to hear Emmy is now an official lapcat!

    HOPPY EASTER
    Love, Teddy and Mom too

  3. Sammy is adorable in the Easter hat… adorable! I am thankful for the click to your puzzle page! Chinese for lunch with your Mom… Yes! Doritos, have not eaten them in years… might be time to change that! So thankful that Tallulah has healed well. I enjoyed all your thankfuls. I really need to do thankfuls in my journal when you do yours. I would get in a routine!

    1. I over indulged in the Doritos today, I like to dip them into cottage cheese. Writing thankfuls is a good thing to do and makes you more aware of all we have to be thankful for. XO

  4. Sammy, you look terrific in your Easter hat. Lots of things to be thankful for. It is such a good thing to be thankful for all the great things that we haveWe sure hope you all have a super Easter. .

Ellen, thank you so much for thinking of us and sending an Easter card. That is so sweet!

  8. We love your hat, Sammy. We would never undertake your puzzle because Mommy is a klutz when it comes to things like that and especially when it’s timed. Your Mommy has a lot to be thankful for that’s for sure. Glad you had your food blessed. Bet it tastes better. Mommy loves horseradish but usually gets it from Amazon. It’s “atomic” and very hot. https://www.amazon.com/Atomic-Horseradish-Extra-Hot-Jar/dp/B002HG9R1I/ref=sr_1_2_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1522512581&sr=8-2&keywords=atomic+horseradish+extra+hot&dpID=413v24mhYfL&preST=_SY300_QL70_&dpSrc=srch
    Happy Easter!

    1. Yikes! That looks so hot. Ours isn’t hot at all this year which is disappointing, I wonder what they add to it to make it extra hot.
      Happy Easter! XO

  9. I always enjoy these fun puzzles! And I know I’ve told you before how I also always enjoy reading your Thankfuls. I am so glad that Tallulah is healing well! And way to go, Emmy, for being a lap kitty! Purrs to all of you!

  10. Some great reasons to be thankful for sure. We are thankful that we will have a big group of family here tomorrow for Easter services and dinner.

  11. You are always so very thankful. That’s a good thing. If we just take the time there is always a wonderful list of thankfulness.

Have a purrfect day and a very blessed Easter. ♥

  12. I am glad Tallulah had a good check up.
The puzzle wouldn’t load for me again so I followed your link which told me to create an account. I did that but then the link just took me to my new account. I remembered seeing your time on one of Basil’s puzzles so went there and clicked on your name and got to your puzzle. It took me 17m 39s, so I wasn’t much faster than you.

  13. I am so interested in this horseradish making tradition. Horseradish is a plant or veggie, right? So, how do you have it available at both Easter and Christmas? And do you use it in a specific connection to those two holiday meals? I am crazy for a good horseradish sauce, but have not ever thought of making my own. Now I am thinking of it though! Sounds wonderful.

    1. It is a plant, I guess it is a vegetable. We grow our own and usually use that, but this year the ground was still frozen so we bought it at the store in the produce section. You peel it, then chop it into smaller pieces, then you put it in the food processor to grind it up then you put it in the blender with vinegar to make it smooth. We use it is a traditional Polish soup my hubby makes for both holidays. It is also good to make cocktail sauce for shrimp.

  14. I never heard of food being blessed but we’re not that religious. TW was all set for a nice Chinese food lunch with Aunt Pauline but unbeknownst to them, the restaurant shuttered. I’m glad Lent is over too. Now we can have meat on our pizza.

  15. #1 really?! (but, full disclosure, I don’t remember a lot about the holidays and church other than having to wear uncomfortable clothes for the day.

    Have a very good Easter

  16. That is interesting to learn that having the priest bless the food is a Polish tradition before Easter. I wasn’t familiar with that. I think it is interesting to learn about the traditions and beliefs that others have.

For whatever reason, I just cannot tolerate eating horseradish. No matter how small an amount I taste, it always makes the inside of my nose burn. It is a very uncomfortable feeling. I know. It is kind of strange. I thought everyone had that reaction, until I happened to mention it to someone once.

    1. I never liked horseradish until a few years ago.. I would not like it if I had the effect you get.
