I am thankful that Gremmie is not my responsibility. No wonder why Joanie can’t get paid to train gremlins, she doesn’t know how.
Millie is thankful to his friend , Sawyer for sharing this PTU Pooper badge that Teddy’s mom made for him.
Yes, Millie has popped in the PTU every time he has ever been in it. Last week, he went to the vet for a rabies shot and blood work. All is good, except his thyroid levels so he needs to take a larger dose of meds. Jinx went to the vet too and all was good with him despite being 15.
Happy Tuesday everyone! Today is medical day and we are also participating in the opt to adopt blog. A couple weeks ago Brian showed us poor Turtle, her son got adopted and not her. I feel so bad for her and would love to take her, but 15 is our limit ( OK, its hubby’s limit- I would have no limit and end up a hoarder). She could get turned out on the street because she is healthy and spayed. Please spread the word to help her get a home or at least a foster home. Here is the link to the original post about Turtle and her son and how bonded they were: http://www.brianshomeblog.com/2014/12/help-bonded-family-cats-tater-tot-and-turtle-need-a-home-for-christmas-greenville-sc.html
I know a lot of you have kitties that hate going to the vet. I don’t mean the usual singing the song of their people, but really hate the vet. My niece’s cat, Nixon is one of those and there is finally a solution. There is a pain medicine used for dogs and humans, but apparently can be used for cats to calm them in these situations. It is Gabapentin, I may ask for some for Millie the next time we go to the vet. He gets so upset and always ends up with diarrhea in the carrier. Has anyone tried this medicine for the calming effect?
Have a nice day and please spread the word about Turtle.
Phoebe said you have 2 more days to compliment her for more entries into the stuffed grumpy giveaway :
Happy Tuesday everyone! Tuesday is medical day and fortunately, there is no health crisis this week -knock on wood ( 3 times). Millie had his thyroid checked and is on half the amount he started with now. Polar Bear continues his antibiotics for a few more days. And Prancie and Stinky are going for rabies shots today ( Massachusetts requires one every 3 years). They will also get an exam while we are there.
I have started using one of those plastic pill cases with compartments for every day of the week for Millie’s thyroid pills. I didn’t want to forget to give him his, I take thyroid meds for under active thyroid and for some reason I always have a lot of pills left at the end of the month. I guess I should get one of those cases for myself as well .
Yesterday on The Daily Abyssinian there were 2 nine yr. old kitties in need of a home together, they are in CT. Here is the link:
Happy Tuesday everyone! Today is medical day and opt to adopt day. I figured I would give an update on the kitties.
First off, Millie has been really good with his meds. I have to give him a pill twice a day and so far, so good. Luckily, it is a tiny pill so he has no trouble swallowing it. I also learned a trick from one of the vets years ago. After I give the pill, I blow on his nose and he swallows.
Joanie is almost all healed up now. She was so cute the other morning, she was sitting on the sink and stood up to look at herself in the mirror. It looked like she was checking her wound. I wish I had a camera with me at the time, but I didn’t for obvious reasons.
Today is Opt to Adopt Tuesday and I am going to post Autumn again as she is still looking for a home. She needs to be an only kitty- I pray she gets her forever home for Christmas. Here she is: http://www.people4animals.org/catsforadoption.htm . I am going to meet her in person today when I drop off my Santa gifts- I will be blogging about it tomorrow.
Hanukkah starts tonight so we want to wish a Happy Hanukkah to our Jewish friends:
Happy Tuesday everyone! Today is medical day so I guess it is appropriate that Joanie is getting her stitches out. She was supposed to go Wednesday, but I moved the appointment in case the weather is bad ( one never knows in New England). I know she wants to ditch that cone, but I am thinking she will need it for a couple more days so she doesn’t scratch.
We are joining the Opt to Adopt blog hop so I am putting a link to the adoptable cats at the Secaucus, NJ Animal Shelter. For some reason, cats end up there a long time. I live 3 hours away, but adopted 2 from there and both had been at the shelter for close to 2 years. Here is the link: http://www.sasnj.org/Adoptable-Pets.html. I know our local shelters reduce fees and find ways to get these poor kitties adopted and I wish all places would do that.
Well, Joanie and I are off to the vet. Phoebe said to remind everyone that today is the last day to enter her giveaway.
Happy Tuesday everyone! Today is Medical day, but first Phoebe has told me to announce the winner of her contest. There were a lot of naughty kitties like Dezi tipping over her mom’s wheelchair in the snow, but she didn’t do that on purpose. Flynn was funny stealing the clothes off of a robin ornament, Scylla bit her mom in the nose and Raven broke a Galileo thermometer. We had a few cord biters ( luckily no one got hurt) and Madi was quite the wood gnawer when she was younger, but one kitty family had so many stories of destruction and naughtiness. So the winner is……Critters in the Cottage for destroying lamps, knocking whole chickens to the dogs and pulling framed paintings off the wall.
For medical day, I will give you a Joanie update: The vet called me yesterday afternoon with good news. They got all of Joanie’s mast cell tumor this time, the margins were clean. Thank you all for the purrs and prayers- they truly helped. She gets her stitches out Monday and she will be happy, she hates being a cone head.
For Tortie Tuesday , I went to Petfinder and typed in my zip code and Tortoiseshell. PAL, the shelter I crochet toys for, had one: https://www.petfinder.com/petdetail/27637722/ Poor Autumn has been at the shelter for over a year because she is FIV positive. I hope she gets a forever home for Christmas. We are hopping:
HiS everyone today is Opt to Adopt Tuesday which I just recently started participating in. It is so hard to find an adoptable cat and not be able to adopt him or her. This week I looked online at Dakin, a city shelter about 30 minutes away. I spotted poor Boo who is 14 years old. I don’t know his story, but I know at his age, his chances of being adopted are not good. Here is the link: http://www.dakinhumane.org/adopt-a-pet-full.html#!/pet/24139082
Tuesdays are medical days and this week I am giving an update on Joanie. Her bump was a mast cell tumor so I am glad I decided to have it removed and tested. I am a little scared though because they didn’t get it all so she needs another surgery which will be tomorrow. The vet wasn’t overly concerned and said they tend to act benign in cats, but I am not taking chances because mast cell tumors are cancerous. Lucy had one removed 4 years ago from her toe and luckily they got it all in one surgery. I hope they get all of Joanie’s this time, but being on her head makes it tricky. We apprecaite all purrs and prayers. I do find it odd that both my calicos have had these tumors- has anyone else dealt with this?
In better news, we are excited be joining in the Secret Santa. We still need to get the gifts, but we have the PURRfect paper and a stocking to stuff: Joanie and Sammy approve.
Don’t forget to comment if you didn’t yet- today is the last day to enter to win those turkey legs. Phoebe will be starting a contest of her own on Sunday.
