Opt to Adopt and Joanie Update

HiS everyone today is Opt to Adopt Tuesday which I just recently started participating in. It is so hard to find an adoptable cat and not be able to adopt him or her. This week I looked online at Dakin, a city shelter about 30 minutes away. I spotted poor Boo who is 14 years old. I don’t know his story, but I know at his age, his chances of being adopted are not good. Here is the link: http://www.dakinhumane.org/adopt-a-pet-full.html#!/pet/24139082

Tuesdays are medical days and this week I am giving an update on Joanie. Her bump was a mast cell tumor so I am glad I decided to have it removed and tested. I am a little scared though because they didn’t get it all so she needs another surgery which will be tomorrow. The vet wasn’t overly concerned and said they tend to act benign in cats, but I am not taking chances because mast cell tumors are cancerous. Lucy had one removed 4 years ago from her toe and luckily they got it all in one surgery. I hope they get all of Joanie’s this time, but being on her head makes it tricky. We apprecaite all purrs and prayers. I do find it odd that both my calicos have had these tumors- has anyone else dealt with this?

In better news, we are excited be joining in the Secret Santa. We still need to get the gifts, but we have the PURRfect paper and a stocking to stuff: 002Joanie and Sammy approve.

Don’t forget to comment if you didn’t yet- today is the last day to enter to win those turkey legs. Phoebe will be starting a contest of her own on Sunday.

    1. I am glad your calicos haven’t had this, I just wonder why my 2 got it. AN odd coincidence.

  4. We send purrs and prayers that that nasty tumor does not come back after being fully excised (Dad is a RN)

  6. I shared Boo from the website and we are sending purrs and love for Joanie. Secret santa sounds like a blast. We are joining in Blogville’s Christmas card exchange so I’m super excited!

    1. Thank you for sharing Boo. We are doing Christmas Cards too, this is our first year blogging so we are taking it all in.

  7. It’s too bad when older cats end up at shelters. I really admire people who are willing to give those cats a home to live out the few years they have left.

  8. Boo looks like a sweet older gal. We hope she finds her new forever home soon so she can enjoy her senior years with a human and some comfy beds & stuff.
Sorry to hear Joanie has to go in for another surgery. Hopefully it will be a quick excision and she’ll recover quickly.
