Taking a Break

I am going to take a break from blogging to spend every moment with Noel. I fear the end is near and we are going to have to make that awful decision this week. She is just fur and bones. I can see she is getting weaker  by the day so I plan to spend all my time with her until the end.

This photo was taken on September 1st and she has rapidly declined since. I am hoping she will rally for a while, but I am also realistic.

  1. Oh I’m so sorry. My heart is breaking for you and what’s to come. I pray it’s a peaceful transition for you both.

  2. Ellen, what a terribly difficult time for you. Please except my sympathy. The demise of a precious pet is eventually overcome. When my cat Coolidge passed after 17 years, I called our vet to let him know. I told him I had never slept in our house without Coolidge. Our wonderful vet said getting another cat right away could be very helpful. Effie was 1 year old at Petco, waiting to rescue me. I snatched her right up. When frequent outdoor visitor Paladin began showing up continually we had him neutered. The neutering made him much more domestic. He finally came into our house, after so many tries. He expored his house, he liked his people, and he played with toys, and he he still does. He and Effie get along great, in the house and in a fenced and locked garden my husband
built. The garden has our grapes growing and the cats live the shade of the vines.

Ellen, I know how hard it is to lose a cat, but you will likely heal quickly and guiltlessly if you get another cat right away. Take care!

  3. Oh awnty Ellen, we are so sorry to hear this. We are sendin’ hugs and purrayers fur all of you. Purrlease give Noel scritches and nose bumps from us.

  4. It’s the saddest part of having furbabies, they just aren’t with us as long as we want them to be. Hold her close and give her everything she wants. She’ll let you know when she’s ready. I’m sorry the time is coming for you to say goodbye for now.

  5. I too am sending love and peace for Noel and for you and the rest of the fur siblings. I am so sorry. It’s the hardest thing to have to do…and the loss is something we all of us in your blog family, will support you as you go through it.

  6. Ellen, my heart, thoughts, prayers are with you and Noel. You are making the right choice by spending her last days loving her devotedly like this. God bless you and Noel in her journey to cross the rainbow bridge. Much Love, Deborah

  7. Ellen, you and Noel will be in my thoughts and my heart. You will get her to her place of peace with all the love that is in your heart. So sad to read this, but the fact that you are there for her is the strength that will pull you through this difficult time.
    Hugs ♥

  9. So sorry to hear that Noel’s time could be near, but also think you have your priorities in the right order. Purrseidon and Katsu said to let you know they’d be sending purrayers.

  10. I’m so very sorry. Treasure every moment you have together. Sending love and purrs to you.

  13. I am so sorry. There is nothing more important than spending time with her. I did that with Sammy who had cancer. You and Noel are in my thoughts.

  14. This is always such a gut-wrenching time. I hope she does rally. If not, I know you’ll do the best you can to help her make that transition to the Bridge. My thoughts are with you. xoxoxo

  15. We’re so sorry, and we completely understand. Please know that we are sending love, purrs and prayers for you and Noel. Please let us know if you need anything, okay?

  16. We send our love and support at this time. Give her all the time you can and she will know deeply of love as she prepares to return home over the Rainbow Bridge

  17. Priorities are priorities. You take all the remaining time with Noel that you can get. Take pictures. Give attention. Know when the time is right. Do the last part of the bargain we Humans have with our dear friends. Take time to recover from the immediate sadness (we know the long-term sadness will never really go away).

We will be here where you are ready to post about her life (If you choose to, some don’t). Most of us know what you are going through.

May Noel have a peaceful journey over The Bridge if this is her time…

  18. Noel, may St Francis stay by your side, and safe keep you, we know he will watch over you and walk with you every step of this journey. We are sorry ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

  19. Noel knows you luv her very much and I’m sure she knows how worried you are about her. She knows that you are going to stick by her side and I’m sure that gives her comfort. Thinking of you and sending hugs.

  20. Ellen, I am so sorry that the end is drawing near for Noel. Spending as much time with her as possible will be the best thing for both of you. You, David, Noel and all her fursibs will be in my prayers, and the Kitties Blue are sending purrs and POTP to Noel. 🙏🏻 💖
    Hugs, Janet

  21. Charlee: “We are very sorry to hear that Noel is doing poorly.”
Chaplin: “We are sending lots of purrs that she will rally and be with you for a while longer.”
Lulu: “And I send tail wags!”

  22. I couldn’t comment on your post today but we’ve all been thinking of you and dear Noel. Thanks for joining the Thankful Thursday Blog Hop.

  23. I couldn’t comment either, there is no comment form. You and Noel are in my thoughts.
That is a cute poem for that weird vehicle. One thing is for sure, I would never fit in there, but if I did I would never be able to get out again.

  24. So sorry to hear about Noel! She truly is a fighter. Glad to hear you can take the time to spend as many moments with her as possible! She is lucky to have you at her side. We will be sending lots of love your way~

  25. I am so sorry. I know exactly what you are going through. Scrappycat was 20 years old and I didn’t go anywhere so that I could spend as much time with her as possible. She was so frail. Letting her go was the hardest thing I have ever done.
