Penny’s Tips Volume 38

Hi everyone! Penny has a tip for you today, but first Joanie wants to announce the winner of the Star Wars Giveaway.

And the winner is Mark’s Mews. Congratulations!

Hi everyone! Did you know there are some pennies out there worth up to $200,000. Not me, I am worth way more than that.

In 1943 there was a copper shortage so pennies were made out of steel, but about 40 were made of copper and some are still in circulation. In January one sold for $204,000 at an auction. To read more, click here.

Let me help you Penny. We sure could buy a lot of treats with that kind of money.

  1. Congrats to Mark’s Mews!

That is a very interesting story about the copper penny I read the article that you linked to and one thing I wonder is, if one finds one of these pennies, who do they contact about it in order to cash it in? We have a ton of old coins around here. We’ve been collecting them for years, not just US coins, but from around the world. Thanks for sharing this information.

You’re right. That sure would buy a lot of treats and a new car would be a great treat for us. πŸ™‚

    Have a blessed week!

    1. I am not sure who to contact, but I would love to find one. I hope you have a blessed week too. XO

  2. Grandpaw loves coins, Penny, he wants to have such a thing as a metal detector πŸ˜€ So if you need any help with counting your pennies, just call Grandpaw…MOL πŸ˜€
Concats to Mark the lucky winner πŸ™‚ Pawkisses for a wonderful dayπŸΎπŸ˜½πŸ’ž

    1. We have a metal detector, but I haven’t had time to go searching much yet. XO

    1. I bet the US will stop having them soon too as it costs more to make one than it is worth.

  3. Yay for the winner!!! My Dad used to keep an eye on coins. He had a bunch that he’d saved which we found in his footlocker after he passed away, some of which were worth some money. Coins are a fun hobby. I’m glad you keep an eye on your pennies Penny!

    Hugs, Pam (and Teddy too)

  4. Congratulations to the lucky winner!
Very interesting about the pennies. We used to really be interested in coins and CH’s Mom had a bunch. Good to see you, Penny… and Joanie, too!

  5. Wow, that’s an interesting penny story. We pick up all pennies off of the ground, because they do add up.

  6. Congrats to the winners!
We’ve heard that some coins are worth a lot.
I’m going to visit the Denver Mint in a few weeks…I’ll see a lot of coins then, I’ll bet!
