Hi everyone! I figured I had better cut my summer vacation short before Rosie gives away any more family secrets.

Speaking of family secrets, did you know my mom was in a horrible independent horror film called Family Secret? I checked Amazon Prime and it is currently unavailable. Darn! I was hoping to embarrass mom. She was in that before I arrived, actually before any of us were here, back in 2009.

My folks have been watching a cool show with Steve Martin on Hulu called Only Murders in the Building.  Steve Martin doesn’t watch it with them (that would be fun), he is in it with Martin Short and Selena Gomez. It is about 3 neighbors in a NYC building that bond over a true crime podcast. They end up starting their own when someone in their building is murdered.

My tip is if you want to see that show on Hulu is to wait a few weeks until season 2 is almost over. Then you can sign up for a free one-month trial and watch both seasons. Mom wanted to do that with Paramount Plus to see Star Trek, but they only offer a one-week trial -cheapos.

  5. Now I see why Canadians being penniless was so funny. I’m happy your Mom is into Penny. And we love Only Murders in the Building, as well. Martin Short and Steve Martin are icons, and Selena Gomez fits right in with her sardonic humour.

  8. Anything with Steve Martin in it has to be fun…….we don’t have cable so no Hulu. We know your Mom has been a movie star before though. That’s pretty cool !!!

  14. Funny, my Sweetie and Brother-in-Law and almost everyone who was in the church we attended back then was in a low-budget horror film one of the members made. It was awful, of course.

  16. Hello, pretty Penny! As a fan of horror films, I really wish I could watch the film your mom is in. That would be so much fun! And I’ve been wondering if Steve Martin’s new show is good. I’ve been tempted to watch it, so now I’ll likely give it a try. I can’t make any comments on whether or not your mom is cheap, Penny, because I often just piggyback off of my parents’ streaming services. They gave me their password, so I’m cheap and often use it. Thanks, Mom and Dad! And purrs to all of you!

    Recently we replaced our 16 year old 47″ tv that is upstairs with a Smart Samsung 55 “TV. Now that we have 2 smart tvesss we signed up for Prime Video, there is absolutely nuttin’ on regular tv in the summer.

  19. I just started Only Murders. Are you referring to Star Trek: Strange New Worlds? It was excellent! The first season is over, so you can binge it now if you want.

      1. I got cast in a commercial as a child. That was just boring, but I feel for you. Oddly enough, it was a TV spot for a radio show. How funny is that? Mostly it just entailed walking around the town square with a group. Mom and I got a free meal at a nearby restaurant, I think.

  28. Mom and dad have a Hulu subscription. The just finished Season 1 of the series with Martin, Short & Gomez. It is enjoyable. If you haven’t watched the series, Dopesick, it is a must see. It was adapted from a book written by one of our neighbors, Beth Macy.
