Friendly Fill-Ins Week 8

Hi everyone! Time for Friendly Fill-Ins , if you don’t have a blog you can put your answers in the comments. ellen_cat_badge_2

I came up with the first two statements and my friend, Annie of McGuffy’s Reader came up with the second two.

Friendly Fill-In Statements: Week 8

1. I never thought I would miss _______________________________, but I do.

2. Every 4th of July ______________________________________.

3. If I knew ______________, I would __________________.

4. I have trouble ___________________________.
My answers are in bold
1. I never thought I would miss soccer games, dance recitals, carting my niece around to all her activities and getting up early to bring her to school, but I do. ( OK, I don’t really miss the soccer games).
2. Every 4th of July I do my best to avoid parties because they are all outside and I hate bugs and don’t like using bug spray.
3. If I knew I was not going to use my Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education/Psychology, I would have gotten a degree in writing or theater.
4. I have trouble cutting coupons, I always seem to chop off the code- I blame my left- handedness on this.
We hope you all have a wonderful 4th of July!

  1. Ellen, I love your answers. They are always so real and honest. Did you teach or counsel at all? You still could…if you wanted to. But, you are right where you should be. I am sure. HUGS!

    1. Thank you, I was a mental health counselor for a year and a tutor for 13 years, but the only classes I ever taught were Catechism ( and that was volunteer). No, I don’t want to do either- I want to write. XO

  2. Great fill-in answers…….yeah I wouldn’t have enjoyed the soccer thing either (hahaha)…………..Happy Friday!

    Hugs, Pam (and Sam)

  3. Great answers! I know what you mean about the degree–sometimes what we think we want at a young age isn’t what we really want! I don’t like being outside in the hot and buggy summer either. Have a great weekend!

    1. Thank you, I decided half way through college that I didn’t want to teach, but figured it was too late to change my mind- I should have. Hope you have a nice 4th!

  4. My biggest problem with coupons is that most of them are for products that have a cheaper generic alternative, anyway.

Thanks for the Fill-Ins fun, and i hope you have a beautiful Independence Day Weekend!

  5. I love your fill-ins! I know exactly what you mean with #2. Although I do often enjoy being outside, I can’t stand the bugs, and I don’t particularly enjoy combating them or wind while trying to eat or have a good time. As for #3, I also often find myself wishing that I had pursued a degree in writing, rather than Animal Sciences. Thank you for hosting this always fun challenge!

    1. Thank you. I like being outside in the fall and winter when the bugs are gone πŸ™‚ Animal Science is a difficult degree to get, my niece has her degree in that and now runs the vet clinic ( more paper work, but at least she knows what everything is about).

    1. πŸ™‚ I bet my cats could do a better job cutting them out than I do. Have a great 4th!

  6. Hey there, I’m sorry if you’re getting my message a zillion times. Every time I try to send it, there appears to be a glitch.

I agree with you about outdoor parties, bugs, and bug sprays.

    Have a blessed weekend!

    1. Sorry you had trouble commenting, only one comment showed up. Have a great 4th!

  7. Great fun answers. I love fill ins. I love seeing them. I seldom fill in though. My mind refuses to think of anything pertinent at that time. xoxoxox

    1. Thank you, you can always answer another day if you think of some answers πŸ™‚ XO

  8. My BA is in history, which would have been perfect if I’d gone on for a law degree or teaching. However, having a four-year degree has helped me get jobs, so I guess I AM ‘using’ it, even if I rarely discuss anything that happened in the past, other than last months numbers.

  9. Ellen, I am responding to your comment on my blog. Actually, I have a degree in English and have been writing since I was in the third grade. I never had the opportunity to explore my creative side, except for my poetry, which I wrote and published most of in the 80s. I was never passionate about anything I did, and I thought I would never find my passion. Then I had the idea that I’d like to have a blog. I knew nothing about them when I started and had never even read one. Wish I found this about ten years ago. And remember, it is never too late to study whatever you want, including writing. Think about BlogPaws for next year. They have lots of writing tract sessions. And besides, I’d like to meet you. Have a safe 4th. Hugs, Janet

    1. Thank you for answering my question. I do hope to go to BlogPaws next year and I would love to meet you too. I didn’t realize they had writing sessions, I thought it was more about promoting blogs. I wish I had discovered blogs years ago too- I missed so much. XO

  10. Ellen, I love your answers… hate those bugs, too. AND IF I knew now, what I didn’t know back in college, I would have pursued a science-based degree with English vs. English with minor in Art, since most of what I’ve written have been tech manuals & that combo would have been a better foundation.

    1. Thank you. I bet you have even more bugs where you live than we do here, although mosquitoes are everywhere. I guess most of us wish we had studied something else πŸ™‚

  11. I enjoyed reading your answers. I hate bugs too. I tried to do the fill-ins but work was just too busy. We haven’t taken a paper in a few years so I haven’t had any coupons to cut in quite some time. I like Joanie’s wink. πŸ™‚

  12. I enjoyed your answers! I, too, have a degree I never use. Ah, well, the bad decisions of youth! I’m hoping to go to BlogPaws next year since it’s in Myrtle Beach – I can drive there in 4 or 5 hours! Maybe we can meet! (referencing Janet’s comment above).

    1. What is your degree in? It seems a lot of us are not happy with our degrees. I definitely want to meet you and hope to go to BlogPaws next year. XO

    1. I didn’t know that. That explains why she has such a great voice ( I heard it when she read your blog once).

  13. guys…tell yur mom her doez knot noe what herz missin…bugs iz grate; raw; crunchee, half eated, saved for later ~~~~~ pluz her all sew can due like uz…spit it out πŸ™‚

  14. “If I knew I was not going to use my Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education/Psychology, I would have gotten a degree in writing or theater.” Haha. Yep. Psychology. So I went back to get the courses necessary to pass the CPA exam … passed the exam … and now I blog about cats instead :p

  15. I know very few people who actually got a job in the same field as their degree. I have friends who majored in computer science who work as security guards.

I have heard that the number one employer of PhDs is Starbucks. We try to stay indoors as much as possible, too. The trouble is this is Gulf Coast Texas. The bugs and snakes like to come in the house, too. I have killed more snakes in my kitchen since we have been here in Texas than I had ever seen in South Carolina.

    1. Snakes! I am really glad we don’t have that problem in Massachusetts. I have never heard that about Starbucks, very interesting.

  16. Hi Guys! Mes is celebrating Canada Day today! So mes answering the fill ins here!

  17. I never used my degree in computer programming. I wish I knew that years ago. Anyway here are my answers.

    1. I never thought I would miss talking care of kids, but I do.

    2. Every 4th of July I wish my sister a happy birthday.

    3. If I knew accounting, I would probably be boring at parties.

    4. I have trouble remembering where I put my phone.

    1. Thank you for your answers. Happy Birthday to your sister. And I hope you have a nice 4th!

  18. Those are great answers! I always enjoy getting to know you through these fill-ins πŸ™‚ I need to get organized and put them on my blog. . .but until then, here are my answers!
1.I never thought I would miss Eastern Canada (where I was born) but I do. I miss all the great lakes and I miss hearing people speak French and I miss certain foods!
    2. Every 4th of July, I wish my American friends a, Happy 4th of July!
    3. If I knew I had hurt someone feelings, I would apologize.
    4. I have trouble accepting people who “burst other peoples’ balloons”. Why say mean things that hurt people who are feeling happy and anticipatory about something, when you could be positive and uplifting?

the critters in the cottage xo

    1. Great answers. I feel that way too about #4, I assume those are people that are very sad or angry at life. XO

  19. Cool and almost unexpected fill ins this week!!

We will try now, well the petcretary will, MOL!
    1. I never thought I would miss sitting through the oldest son’s piano and organ lessons, and hearing all the hours of practice, but I do.

    2. Every 4th of July we try to see the local fireworks…but sometimes its almost not worth battling the traffic when its over.

    3. If I knew I was going to be stricken with cancer (2006), I would maybe have changed some of my health screens and lifestyles (though I don’t think they were that bad…).

    4. I have trouble staying patient when I have to deal with irascible residents and some other peeps too…at my work and eslewhere…I want to spew out my mind to them,MOL!

    1. Thank you for your answers. We gave up on fighting traffic for fireworks years ago. I am glad you survived- you make the world a better place. You are very patient to do the work you do. Have a nice 4th!
