Happy Thursday everyone! I can’t believe Thanksgiving is only 2 weeks away-I really need to buy a turkey. I love Thanksgiving, no gifts, just food and family. I love giving gifts, but I like to have a holiday where I just worry about perfecting the food. Plus almsot all the vegetables we will be having were home grown- I feel like a pilgrim. We did forget to grown butternut squash this year so I will have to purchase that.
Today is Behavior day and I am sure many of you have this problem. Cats like to scratch rugs. We don’t have many rugs, only a couple braided ones and Lucy loves to sink her claws into that. Every year, for about 5 years in a row, I would have to cut the outer braids off the rug before the holidays. It was getting smaller and smaller then about 6 years ago, the dog had an accident right in the middle of it on Christmas Eve. What a way to clear a room- all thanks to the guests slipping her snacks all evening. Eventually that rug got cleaned and ended up on the enclosed porch. We bought another rug from someone on Craigslist and luckily, Lucy isn’t as interested in it so I haven’t had to alter it.
Hope you have a nice day and don’t forget starting Saturday is the last chance to try for those catnip turkey legs.
As always we are hopping with Pepismartdog: I am thankful this week that Joanie’s dental went well ( no extractions) and her bump was removed. We won’t know for a while if it is cancerous or not, but even if it was, I am hopeful that they got it all. The photo is blurry, but this is where her stitches are. She is supposed to wear a cone, but she kept bumping into things and wouldn’t relax so I am just going to keep an eye on her to make sure she doesn’t scratch it.
Happy Thursday everyone! I had a different topic for today planned, but I figured I would save it for next week. Today I will tell you about my sticky P. I mean the P on the laptop keyboard-what were you thinking?
My laptop is about 4 years old and for the past 2 years it has had a sticky p. I first realized it when I asked my friend if she *assed her exam? She wrote back that yes, she did *ass it 🙂 I try to be careful, but sometimes when I am in a hurry, it slips ast me.
My editor (mom) called me to tell me that I wrote Ravelry has free atterns- oops, I meant patterns. I did go back and edit it, but I need to remember to check several times for errors.
So please accept my apology if I have called you a hoe. Many times I comment meaning to write I hope something works out or gets better and I miss that stinkin P. Now the P keeps falling off so I ut it in a safe lace.
Many thanks to everyone who gave me suggestions for Spooky’s arthritis medicine. I am going to try some of them and I will let you know when I find what is right for him. I am thankful for being part of such a caring communtiy of cat lovers always trying to help one another. Have a nice day everyone! Lucy and I will see you tomorrow for book review day.
Phoebe is busy planning her post for Sunday.
We are hopping today :
Happy Thursday-its Black Cat Awareness Day! I am a proud owner of 4 black kitties and they are all sweeties. All 4 are great with people and very sweet kitties.
I am a very superstitious person, but I don’t think black cats are bad luck. Or any color cat for that matter. I have so many superstitions ( thanks mom)–no birds in the house, don’t go in one door and out another, no shoes on the table( not that I would do that, but boxes of new ones), don’t go under a ladder, never count the cars in a funeral procession, its bad luck to whistle inside, etc….but I don’t believe black cats are bad luck. I actually think my luck is pretty good- I always say I am an even Steven- knock on wood-three times.
Here is one of our black cats, Tallulah posing as a Tribble and my hubby is Captain Kirk ( Star Trek fans will understand). Saturday, I will post a collage of all 4 cats as my art.
Please leave a comment today if you want to win a black cat pin with a cute little card that explains they are not bad luck- I will giveaway 2-winners will be announced tomorrow. Thanks for being loyal readers.
We are participating in PepiSmart Dog’s Thankful Thursday Blog Hop-I am thankful that I have 4 wonderful black cats. And thanks again to Nellie of Catfromhell for our Jack O’ Lanterns
Happy Thursday everyone! First off, a few days ago there was an email about a Christmas card swap and a secret Santa for bloggers. I can’t find it now in deleted or old mail so could someone please let me know where to send the information -my kitties want to join, especially Phoebe.
Joanie’s little bump got checked at the vet, but I still don’t have a definite answer. The vet tried 4 times and said it wouldn’t “exfoliate” to get cells to test it. That is good because mast cell tumors usually do. She said I could watch it, but Joanie is due for a teeth cleaning so I will have it removed on November 7th while she is under. She travels well with just a couple meows.
Today is behavior day and I am not sure if this counts as behavior, but it is my topic for today. We have an old chair that I put out on the enclosed porch about 4 years ago. My mom wanted it, but didn’t take it in time. Millie decided it was for him and has since decorated it. I hate having it out there, but I don’t want to break his heart so I let it stay.
This is Millie and Penny sharing the chair.
The costume of the day is Jinxy as Batman, my hubby had to help:
Have a nice day everyone! We are hopping for Thankful Thursday:
Happy Thrusday everyone! Thank you to everyone who donated to J.Lo, shared her story and porayed- everything helps. We are joining pepismartdog’s Thankful Thursday blog hop: I am thankful that there is such a wonderful community of pet lovers that all help each other out. This time last year, I didn’t even know about all these pet blogs.
Today is behavior day and I thought I would continue to tell you about a typical day with 15 cats. Last week, I told you about breakfast. After breakfast, I wash our dishes and theirs ( not together). Then I do a full litter box change on some of the boxes, I do that every 3 days because we use the plain clay, not the scented or clumping. Then I get a break until noon.
When we have lunch, they do too- first, of course. They actually just get a small bit of dry food to tide them over until 7pm dinner. Lucy and Snowball get to split a small can of Sheba brand though because Lucy is elderly and Snowball doesn’t have many teeth even though she is young. If I am not home, hubby will deal with this and take Lucy to the bathroom.
They are supposed to wait until 7 pm for dinner, but at 3 pm Phoebe begs her dad for a snack.. He always gives her one and when the others hear the containers rattling, they come running. We actually eat our dinner at 6 pm and make them wait- I probably shouldn’t do that because they drive us crazy at dinner especially when chicken is involved.
Somehow they have suckered us into a 10 pm snack as well – exact same one as at noon. And Phoebe will pester me again when I go to bed at 11 or 11:30. I guess we feed them too often, but I try not to make any meal too big. Sammy is the biggest at 20 pounds, but he is a large cat ( should probably weigh 17 though). Have a nice day, I am tired just thinking about my day.
Starting Saturday, I will be posting this year’s costumes: Here are some from a couple years ago: Phoebe is Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz and Stinky was the tin man:
Happy Thursday everyone. Today is Behavior Day, but it is also Thankful Thursday and I have a lot to be thankful for. I am thankful to have a loving family ( hubby, mom and niece) as well as 15 (mostly) loving cats. I am also thankful for all my loyal readers and for getting to be a part of The Cat Blogosphere among so many caring cat lovers.
And a big thank you to Gracie in the Sewing Room of Cat Scouts. Sammy got his uniform and he sure looks handsome in it, he is always handsome though:
For behavior, I thought I would tell you about mornings at our house. I usually get up somewhere between 5 and 6AM to use the bathroom so I take Lucy in with me to get her to pee. If she has already come to visit me before that, it means I am too late and will be cleaning the bathroom floor. Then I go back to bed until 7 when the alarm goes off and hit snooze until 7:30 when my official wakeup service calls ( that would be my Mom). Hubby usually gets up at 7 and scoops the litter boxes, but by the time I get up there is more scooping to do.
I feed everyone breakfast before we have ours. It takes a while to get the food ready- Prancie and Stinky have an allergy food, Lucy and Snowball must have chicken or something on top of the wet food or they don’t want it, Spooky needs his glucosamine mixed into his- you get the idea. Hubby polices them while I get our breakfast ready. At least 3 days a week he comes into the kitchen for supplies to clean up vomit ( Joanie eats too fast).
Once we get to finally eat, they are usually done and this is what I see: Butter Boy ( Spooky ) and his sidekick Butter Girl ( Joanie). They won’t quit until I am done with my waffles or toast even if I do give them butter.Another time I will fill you in on more happenings here. Have a nice day!
This is Millie as The White Rabbit from Alice in Wonderland. There was no way he was posing without a little help though.
I will be announcing another contest Saturday!
And we are participating in PepiSmartdog’s Thankful Thursday Hop:
Happy Thursday everyone! This week is flying by, but I guess every week does. Today is behavior day and my Sammy is a sweet guy, but he has a bad habit. Please don’t tell anyone at Scouts though- I don’t want to embarass Sammy.
Sammy likes to pee in the tub, in his defense, he does use the drain side. No, this isn’t an episode of Seinfeld ( remember when George was “the urinator”). Sammy is a big boned tall guy and likes a lot of room to spread out so I guess he figures the tub is best. I don’t know how to break him of this and there are a lot of worst places like catnip mats ( thanks Lucy). I just make sure I clean the tub before I shower every day.
Does anyone else have a cat that does this?
This is Sammy’s costume from last year, he won first place at the local pet store. He was Harry Pawter, I crocheted the scarf and the glasses were made with a pipe cleaner. :
PS:Did everyone get their Fall newsetter? There is a contest in it and no one has even tried to guess at the question. If you know the answer please write it in the comment section.
Happy Thursday everyone! I hope you are all having a nice week. I am enjoying the nice cool Fall weather. I think the kitties are too as they seem to be playing and chasing each other more now than they were when it was hot and humid.
Today is behavior day and I want to continue on my rant about declawing. I am talking about human behavior here. I really don’t understand why anyone would want to live with a cat if they were going to declaw it. They are making it into something it is not by doing that. When one is in a relationship and wants to change the other that means they shouldn’t be together to begin with.
Last week when my mom and I went for pedicures, I asked the lady about her cat. It is bad enough that she overfeeds it and jokes she won’t put it on a diet. Now I find out that she had her declawed when she found her years ago. I explained the procedure and she said no, it is just removing the nail. I gave up trying to explain because it was a hopeless cause, but I did decide that I will NEVER go to her again.
Enough of my rant for now, sorry I get so passionate about kitty issues. Have a great day!
PS: Today is Thankful Thursday and I am thankful to be a part of the blogging community and got a reminder to join Pepismartdog’s hop:
Happy Thursday everyone, this week is flying by like every other week. Today is behavior day and as I always say, I am never out of topics to write about with 15 cats. Mealtime at our house can be a challenge, not kitty meals, our meals. Well, their meals are too as we need to police them from stealing from one another.
I love to have waffles with butter for breakfast and many of the cats know I have butter and love to have a taste. I call Spooky, butter boy because he is always the first one waiting. This was breakfast yesterday morning as I was sitting on the couch:Spooky and Joanie were at my right, Lucy was at my left and Stinky was on the floor. And this was supper: Prancie helps David and grabs his hand with her little paw.
I guess we could eat in the diningroom ( the one no cat area because of plants in there), but that wouldn’t be much fun now would it?
Have a great day everyone! And thanks for reading this blog.
Hi everyone! Today is 9/11, a sad day in the U.S. My thoughts are with those that perished that day and their loved ones. I took this photo in 2008 in Brooklyn:
Today is behavior day and as I have written before, I am never at a loss for behavior problems/issues.
Poor Phoebe takes a fright whenever it rains or when the evil vacuum comes out. She always hides under the covers on the bed, she is the only kitty that does that. I don’t understand why my other cats step on her when she is hiding. They see the lump on the bed and go over and step on it or try to sit on her. Does anyone else have cats that do that? I am just wondering if they don’t realize the bump is her or if my cats are just meanies.
Who would want to squish this cutie?
I will be having another contest next week. Thanks for reading everyone!
