Thankful Thursday and Joanie Update

Happy Thursday everyone! I can’t believe Thanksgiving is only 2 weeks away-I really need to buy a turkey. I love Thanksgiving, no gifts, just food and family. I love giving gifts, but I like to have a holiday where I just worry about perfecting the food. Plus almsot all the vegetables we will be having were home grown- I feel like a pilgrim. We did forget to grown butternut squash this year so I will have to purchase that.

Today is Behavior day and I am sure many of you have this problem. Cats like to scratch rugs. We don’t have many rugs, only a couple braided ones and Lucy loves to sink her claws into that. Every year, for about 5 years in a row, I would have to cut the outer braids off the rug before the holidays. It was getting smaller and smaller then about 6 years ago, the dog had an accident right in the middle of it on Christmas Eve. What a way to clear a room- all thanks to the guests slipping her snacks all evening. Eventually that rug got cleaned and ended up on the enclosed porch. We bought another rug from someone on Craigslist and luckily, Lucy isn’t as interested in it so I haven’t had to alter it.

Hope you have a nice day and don’t forget starting Saturday is the last chance to try for those catnip turkey legs.

As always we are hopping with Pepismartdog: www.PepiSmartDog.com, Thankful Thursday Weekly Blog Hop, pet centric I am thankful this week that Joanie’s dental went well ( no extractions) and her bump was removed. We won’t know for a while if it is cancerous or not, but even if it was, I am hopeful that they got it all. 009The photo is blurry, but this is where her stitches are. She is supposed to wear a cone, but she kept bumping into things and wouldn’t relax so I am just going to keep an eye on her to make sure she doesn’t scratch it.

  1. “What a way to clear a room…” Okay, you HAVE to admit, it IS kinda funny. Made me chuckle. Hehehehee… Of course, Peep #1 says it’s not so funny for the peep who had to clean it up but that peep wasn’t me on account of my bein’ a cat so… I’m still snickerin’ over here. Sorry ’bout that.

  3. Raven occasionally digs her claws into the wall-to-wall carpet, but it’s never destructive. She prefers her cardboard scratchers.
Hopefully Joanie’s bump is nothing to be too concerned about. Paws crossed that you get good biopsy results.

    1. Raven is a good kitty, you are lucky. Thank you, I will let everyone know as soon as the results are in.

  4. Joanie, we know how your mommy feels and how YOU feel too, me and my human brovver. Prayers for you. xxoox

  5. I hope the results from Joanie’s bump are good. Flynn occasionally scratches his claws on the carpet but usually uses the cat tree.
You said there are pills to help with his appetite. He takes Mirtazapine and had got down to only needing one every 7-10 days but has had to go back to having them every other day. I had hoped we had got past the point of needing them but then his appetite disappeared again. I am sure it is another after effect of the convenia injection. I just wish I knew before he had the injection what I know now.

    1. That was an awful reaction he had to that. Mirtazapine is the one I was thinking of, maybe there is another that would work better for Flynn. I will keep him in my prayers.

  6. That rug sounds like it WAS pretty special. 😉

Purring and praying for Joanie — and especially that the bump was nothing to worry about.

    1. It was a nice rug, but nothing is as important as our pets. Thank you for the prayers and purrs.

  7. Glad to read that all went well! Keeping fingers and paws crossed that her bump isn’t cancer. Had 3 removed off of Mazie last week and got the good news yesterday that they were benign. Thank goodness!

  8. Hi, glad Joannie is doing well. :=o)
    Loved your rug story. ROCLMAO
Years ago I (Pepi) had a gas-accident when ‘She’ was entertaining and everyone started running around groaning and holding their face!
‘She’ called me by my Latin name: “Pepius Gasius Maximus!” Hee Hee!
Thank you for joining our Thankful Thursday Weekly Blog Hop.

    1. That is a funny name 🙂 Dogs to seem to be gassy, but one of our cats is too. We are happy to hop with you.
