Veteran’s Day

Hi everyone! We are joining Athena’s Caturday Art Blog Hop and Ten Things of Thankful. I am reusing my art from 2015. Lucy was posing with my father’s Air Force photo and his flag.

Here are my thankfuls:

  1. I am thankful to all who served and are currently serving. I have the utmost respect for anyone who is willing to give their life for people they have never met.
  2. For scoring a 21 pound turkey for $1.32. The grocery store in the next town had them for 39cents a pound and they accept the $7 off coupon from their competitor.
  3. Hubby and I got to finally go to his favorite restaurant for a long overdue birthday dinner ( his birthday is in January, but he had a blood clot and then Phoebe was sick, etc.).
  4. One of our friends that lives in the same town as the restaurant met us there for dinner, it was nice to catch up.
  5. Coffee with a different friend on Friday.
  6. Lots of leftover cake from the great one’s birthday party.
  7. Emmy finally sat on my lap and has done it more than once.

8. Going shopping today with my mom, niece and the great one.

9. The great one already loves books, she opened some at her party last week and sat right down to look at them instead of moving on to the next gift.

10. Lots of great books that I am currently reading.

  1. That is great about the turkey! Imagine if we could always be that lucky. It could be Thanksgiving every month. 🙂

I’m glad to hear that The Great One loves books. Reading is such a fun adventure.

I am glad that Emmy is sitting on your lap now. It takes awhile for them to trust, but it is so wonderful once they finally start to trust us.

    Have a blessed weekend!

  2. The Great One loving her books is a wonderful sign that she will be a READER as soon as she is old enough! YAY! My Mom’s Dad was also in the Air Force and we are thankful for ALL those who serve their country wherever and whenever.

    Hugs, Teddy

  3. Lots of great things to be thankful for. We are so thankful for all the veterans that fought for our country. You all have a good Saturday.

  4. We are very thankful for all veterans, too.

Leftover cake and a child who reads are beautiful things.

  5. Beautiful art for Veteran’s Day. And, as always, I truly enjoy reading your Thankfuls. Hooray for that deal on the 21 lb turkey! You’re all set for Thanksgiving!

  6. Perfect that The Great One loves books! Yay you on the turkey purchase… 21 pound turkey! HAPPY on the leftover CAKE! Agree on #1. Love all of your thankfuls… glad you husband finally celebrated his birthday.

  7. I always enjoy your thankful posts. All of us have so much to be thankful for if we just take the time to notice all the wonderful things around us.

    Happy Veterans Day. ♥

  8. It is Remembrance Day here in Canada. I am off to the War Memorial downtown for the commemoration. I hope it does not rain

  9. Your Veteran’s Day art is wonderful! Sounds like you have a lot of great things to be thankful for. A whole turkey for under two dollars–wow! 🙂

  11. We are thankful for the sacrifice of our veterans.
You have so many things to be thankful for =)

  12. What a score on the turkey! The peeps are working on spending $400 at ShopRite to get a free bird. TW is still waiting for me to sit on her lap. Pop is too.

  13. So much lovely things to be thankful for, miss Ellen. Glad you finally could go to dinner together..and that Emmy sat on your lap, that’s so cool 😀 Great Veterans Artwork too 🙂 Pawkisses for a wonderful day 🙂 <3

  14. That is a great piece of artwork that you shared from 2015.

Settling down to reading your books, with possibly a cat snuggled on your lap, sounds like a great way to spend a winter evening.

A child’s favorite book is soon memorized by the person reading to the child. 🙂
I have fond memories of reading to my children when they were young.

  15. Oh MeOW Can we come fur Fanksgivin’ turkey? Okay, so matbe you could just have a bite fur each of us. Good job. big hugs

  16. oddly enough, I enjoyed #6! I don’t eat much in the way of deserts and such, but there is something about left-over birthday cake that, by virtue of it not being a common item in the pantry that makes it fun.

  17. Wow, that’s an awesome steal on a turkey! 🙂

I like that you are honoring our veterans here, my son is one! Amen to them being amazing.

Delighted that your hubby finally got to celebrate his birthday in style, and with friends, that makes it even nicer! I like that you had left over birthday cake to indulge in from the Great One’s party, too. I could live on birthday cake I think! 🙂 How wonderful that she is learning to love books at a young age, she will be a reader for life!

I am delighted that Emmy now feels safe on your lap. One of our outside ferals, Smokey, has finally decided it feels very nice to be petted and scritched and has stopped backing away. Love and patience always win, don’t they?

I hope you’re having a good week, I am finally starting to catch up here! XOXO

    1. It is so rewarding when strays and ferals finally trust us. Thank you to your son for his service. XO
