Thankful Thursday

Hi everyone! We are joining Brian’s Thankful Thursday Blog Hop.

I am thankful that my mom, niece and I are taking The Great One and Typhoid Mary to see The Nutcracker on Saturday. I wanted to be with them the first time they saw it. I got these nutcrackers and I am going to write the date on the bottom so we will each have a souvenir from the day.

We are also joining Angel Sammy’s Poetry Day.  And here is the photo prompt provided:

One year Santa’s reindeer were sick,
he needed to find some help quick.
Who could follow his long course?
Only the dependable US Air Force.
Here are the Friendly Fill-Ins for tomorrow. I came up with the first two and my co-host, Lorianne of Four-Legged Furballs came up with second two.
1. A Christmas pet peeve I have is ______________________.
2. I don’t like spending money on _______________.
3. I eat my fair share of _________ this time of the year.
4. I _________ when wrapping Christmas gifts.

  1. Oh, going to see the Nutcracker, that will be so much fun! Adorable souvenirs too! Ha, love the photo and your poem this week too! XO

  2. The Nutcracker is a great way to introduce children to Classical Music and ballet, so is Peter and the Wolf, and A Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra.

I think that is a great idea to give out those nutcrackers…I am partial to the one with a drum…LOL! Have fun when you go!

That was a great poem to go with the picture prompt.

  3. Oh, those lucky kids. Mama LOVED The Nutcracker and knows all the words to Spike Jone’s version that was written decades ago when she was (then) able to remember lyrics, haha. I wish all kids could see The Nutcracker, but we are not sure today’s older kids would have the attention span to enjoy it haha. Maybe ditch phones at the entrance…

  4. Have fun at the Nutcracker! What a great idea to have a souvenir of the event too. I’m sure everyone will always remember being together for The Nutcracker ballet. Your poem for the Poetic Thursday challenge made us giggle but YAY for the Air Force saving the day!!!

    Hugs, Teddy and Mom Pam

  5. You did so good on the poem, I’m chuckling over it. Glad all of you had a good time at The Nutcracker Suite. It’s definitely a ballet that should be seen by all girls.

  8. I haven’t been to the Nutcracker in years. I hope they have fun. And, I’ve never seen pink nutcrackers! Very cute. I giggled at your Santa poem.

  9. We are thankful for the wonderful card we got from you today! It was so nice to see ALL of your clowder ! What a job it must have been for you and Cat Daddy to get all the pictures and put them together.

    1. Thank you. I am glad you like the card. It is hard to get any of them to wear clothes except Joanie who enjoys it. XO

  12. You remind me of my dear departed mother, who wrote dates on cards and gifts which still bring joyful memories. Blessings and hugs to you and yours.

  13. Yes, we do have similar poems again this week. I love the nutcrackers. What a great way to mark a memorable event. Two of my friends have daughters who danced several times in The Nutcracker, and I always enjoyed seeing that ballet each year at Christmastime. Have fun!
