Thankful Thursday

We are joining Brian’s Thankful Thursday Blog Hop.

Emmy is thankful for all her toys. She ran out of room on her bedroom chair so she has started a new hoarding collection in the living room.

I am thankful that I realized the pharmacy made an error with her pills. I get Emmy’s heart meds from a local pharmacy (the same one I get my meds from) and when I went to cut them into quarters, I noticed the pill was bigger than usual. I checked the bottle and realized it said 50 mg. instead of 25mg, but it still said to give her 1/4 of a pill. I am glad that I noticed and realize I need to be more cautious. If the pill had looked exactly the same, I would have ended up giving it to her.

My brain is still not in poetry mode- hopefully next week.

Here are the Friendly Fill-Ins for tomorrow. I came up with the first two and my co-host, Lorianne of Four-Legged Furballs came up with second two.

1. I would rather smell a skunk than smell _______________________.
2. Every March I look forward to ____________________.
3. I knew _________ the moment that _________.
4. _________ is currently my silver lining.
And don’t forget to enter Penny’s Dr. Seuss giveaway. It is open until Thursday night 9pm ( EST). Winner will be announced on Friday.

  1. That’s a huge something to be thankful for. As for Emmy, well we’re thankful she has another room to hoard her toys in.

  2. Emmy does have a lot of toys. It was lucky that you spotted that she had the wrong strength pills. At our pharmacy a second person always checks them before giving them out.

  3. Emmy treats her toys like they are her “babies”….I think that’s sweet! It’s a good thing you discovered an error in her meds – we always have to check our HUMAN meds too….just in case!

    Hugs, Teddy and Mom Pam

  4. YOu know it’s always scary to find an error like that in their meds…or ours as well. Always look even though it’s the same bottle..it is good to form a habit of looking at the bottle before opening and swallowing.

    1. Yes, I am glad I did. I will be sure to check the labels every time. XO

  5. That was a good catch on the meds. I hope you get to fill another chair with toys soon sweet Emmy. Thanks for joining our Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!

  6. I always check the pills too. We can’t be to careful where our babies are concerned. Good catch, Ellen.

I’m all ready for the friendly fill-ins. Thank you for co-hosting the fun.

Have a fabulous Thankful Thursday, Ellen. Scritches to all the kitties. ♥

    1. Emmy has a basket for some of the toys on her bedroom chair. 🙂 XO

    1. Emmy thanks you. Maybe we will both want to write poems next week. XO

  8. Good for you on the meds ! Every so often the pharmacy gives me the right pills but they look different (from a different maker or just a fashion statement?) My thyroid pills have been pink and oblong and are now tiny and white. The pharmacy notes that when they hand over the RX. You can’t be too careful ! Purrs to all !

  9. Whew, good catch on your part. The pharmacy should not have made that error. Mom had a similar situation with one of Dad’s eyedrops for glaucoma. They gave her a bottle that was twice the strength of what he was supposed to get. That could have brought his eye pressure dangerously low. Mom noticed the difference in the bottle and wondered what was up. Good for you and your good instinct to question.

Woos – Lightning, Misty, and Timber

  10. We always read the bottle for that very reason. Sweetie cannot have steroid medication because it raises the pressure in his eyes, and one time he went to get his glaucoma med and they’d given him steroid drops. Had he used them, he might be blind now.

    Good catch!

    1. Emmy agrees about hoarding. 🙂 I did call the pharmacy and they apologized and had me return the large size for the smaller.

  11. So, Emmy and Mr. Peters, my cousin, are on the same pills and I can’t remember a single one..
Twice a day, he got them, but he was really cool about it. Both kitties are so brave! I get eye drops
and go nuts! – Meow! (Good thing you caught the pill size..that’s freaky!)

  12. Oh I m sorry the pharmacy made such an error. I am happy you caught it. You;re such a good mom to all your sweet babies. Always sweet to see photos and hear stories. Blog world is a wonderful place. HUGS and I like these sentences for Friendly Fill In’s.

  13. Hi there Ellen! So glad you’ve noticed. Mistakes can happen so quickly and sometimes with dreadful consequences.

I miss Friendly Fill-Ins! Will try my best to join in again next week.

    Have a good weekend!

    1. Thank you. I miss your joining in and hope you so next week. Have a nice weekend too. XO

  14. Good you found the error. Too bad vets phone the prescriptions in so you can see if they changed her dose. There’s a certain chain that’s apparently famous for getting meds and prescriptions wrong altho we’ve never had a problem.

  15. Charlee: “As long as you have room to expand your hoard, then your hoard is not a problem, am I right?”
Chaplin: “Good job catching the problem with those pills! It sure seems like you have to keep an eye on those pharmacies ― I remember one time they filled one of Dennis’s medications wrong, too! Fortunately Dada noticed that the pills were shaped a little bit differently from normal and didn’t give them to him.”

  16. Good catch! Those kinds of medications happen sometimes, and I am so glad that you were observant — and a good Cat Mom.
