Thankful Thursday

Hi everyone! We are joining Brian’s Thankful Thursday Blog Hop

Sammy is thankful for a cone break. He always washes his little face when the cone comes off. I am thankful I was able to get him a vet appointment. As you all know, our vet is closed forever. I had taken Sammy to the vet in our town and was happy with them until I called for an appointment and was told the soonest they could see him was May 22nd. I ended up back at my original vet place as they took him at 9:15 that morning. They have had a lot of staff changes and Sammy had a new vet so we may stay at this place again. He is on a 3 week course of antibiotics and an anti-itch pill ( apoquel, used off label for cats).

I am also thankful my sister wanted to adopt the cat I was fostering. I delivered him on Monday and he is doing well and has made friends with some of her kitties already. I knew he was going to a good home, but it was still hard for me to part with him- I almost turned around and came back home with him. The lady is still trying to trap 5 others that will need homes though so maybe I will adopt one of them.

We are joining their poetry day named after Teddy’s angel brother Sammy ‘s Poetry Day. Here is the photo prompt provided:

someone needs to move her along with a quack.

Today is Y day in The A-Z Blogging Challenge. Y is for yes. Say yes to things you usually say no to like dessert. Life is too short to deny yourself.

Here are the Friendly Fill-Ins for tomorrow. I came up with the first two and my co-host, Lorianne of Four-Legged Furballs came up with second two. The linky stays open until Wednesday night.

  1. Yay for Sammy being cone free! We’re glad your original vet place is working out again. May 22 sounds awful! We’re also happy your foster will be adopted by your sister.

    Fun poem!

  2. Purring for Sammy, and thank you for fostering…it’s got to be hard, but it’s such a vital service.
When Angel was spayed, I had no idea that she would have to wear a cone for a week afterward, and I cried to see her so unhappy. I removed the cone every night, and slept on the futon with her to monitor that she didn’t mess with her stitches. That was a long time ago now.

    1. Thank you. I truly admire people who foster all the time. that would kill me. That was so kind of you to do for Angel. XO

  3. I am glad you were able to get Sammy to a vet. Nearly a month away is far too long to have to wait.
That is a cute poem about the ducks.
I can never say no to dessert!

    1. Thank you. I am sure it would have been infected by then. Same here with dessert. XO

  4. HA! That’s the best poem we’ve read today! We were wondering what people would think about that last duck in the row….HAHA We’re happy the orange kitty is in a nice home but perhaps one of the others who is yet to be trapped will make their way into the BEST POSSIBLE home – yours! Poor Sammy can’t get a break with his itchies can he. We have our paws and fingers crossed that his meds will work and he can have more cone-free time.

    Hugs, Teddy and Mom

  5. Sammy, I wish you didn’t have to go through that. The cone must be hard to bear but without it you could cause your skin and furs more problems. Here’s a smooch on you sweet face.

  6. Good to hear you found a vet that could see Sammy sooner. I bet he loves the breaks from the cone. Hoping the new three week treatment helps. Glad to hear you found a great home for the Ginger. I like the way you think about saying YES!

  7. Poor Sammy, sure hope the meds work this time. So glad the cat has a good home with your sister. I would find it hard to let go too. .

  8. We hope that medicine helps you sweet Sammy and we hope you have a good Vet now. Thanks for joining our Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!

  9. Wonderful thankful things and especially your kitty. A huge thankful. You’re such a good kitty mom. I know it’s hard to give up one of your fosters, but you sure did give him a great home. You can also check on him too.

Passing on Friendly Fill-ins this week, it’s our anniversary today and we’re going on a cruise.

Have a fabulous Thankful Thursday, Ellen. Scritches to all the kitties. ♥

  10. I’m glad Sammy gets a break from wearing the cone. I hope he’s feeling better.

That’s great that your sister adopted the kitten. I’m sure it was difficult to give him up, but he’s in the family and you’ll have a chance to visit.

  11. What a cute picture of Sammy! I know it must have been hard to part with the new kitty, but the bright side is that you can visit because he’s with your sister! XO

  12. We hope the new regimen works well for Sammy and that your original vet place stays on track this time.

  13. We sure love your thankful and know our pal Sammy is feeling great now. Yeah Sammy those vets are no fun but we need them now and then. So glad kitty got a good home and love your poem too

  14. We can understand wanting a cone break! Or at least Kozmo can. And we are glad that you found a home for your foster…we are sure that one of the others will fit purrfectly into your family! We are actually going to do the Fill-ins tomorrow! Yeah! I got back from the big city early enough to post (after a nap of course) I find 6 hours of driving sandwiching 3 hours of shopping difficult these days…I must be getting old!

  15. The whole vet issue is such a problem these days! My human said I am not allowed to be sick until things get back to normal.

  16. I’m glad the cat is doing well, and another kitty found a good home. Yay for saying yes.

It’s hard to believe the blogging challenge is almost over for 2021. Then the after survey, reflections, and the road trip sign-up.
Plus, I’m taking part in the Bout of Books read-a-thon in May. So much excitement!

  17. I’d imagine having a cone is an aggravating thing, so glad it’s now off, though.

I’m all for say yes to dessert! Last night, I baked two store-bought frozen apple pies for us to compare. I need to practice up on making home-made pie but when it’s not convenient, it’s nice to pull one out of the freezer. 🙂
