Ten Things of Thankful

Hi everyone. Before we get started, we want to say goodbye to Mr. Buttons of Timmy the Tomcat’s family. He was only 7, but lost a battle with kidney disease. Please visit his family, if you haven’t already.

We are joining Athena’s Caturday Art Blog Hop and Ten Things of Thankful Blog Hops.

For my art, I used Lunapic-cartoon and black and white effects on Emmy’s shopping cart photo.

Here are my thankfuls-

1. Someone calling me Miss instead of the dreadful Ma’am.
2. My great-niece’s growing vocabulary, she told my mom and I to calm down the other day 🙂
3. Nice and Easy hair color- why pay for a full color every 6 weeks when I can spend $6 on this?
4. Pedicure with my mom.
5. Chinese food lunch with my mom after the pedicures- even if we looked odd in flip flops when it was only 30 degrees.
6. Breakfast with a friend.
7. A bargain- found 2 long sleeved v-necks for only $3/each.
8. Joanie sleeps between us every night, not the whole night, but she is always there in the morning.
9. The Babies R Us closest to me is closing , I am not happy they filed bankruptcy, but I am sick of people registering there for baby showers when they are so expensive.
10. A warm home, it sure has been a cold winter.

  1. You had me at Chinese food. did you get a kitty bag for me? There are a lot of Latinos around here so everyone is always calling TW Mama. She hates it. Black and white cats look good in black and white.

  2. So adorable “The Great One” told you and her Mom to calm down. Tee Hee I would imagine flip flops WERE a little chilly after your pedicure BUT Chinese food warms us all up from head to toe right? We were very sad to learn of Mr. Buttons heading to the Bridge – he sure wanted to stay but when we’re called we must answer. Sending you Saturday Hugs.

    Love, Teddy and Mom too

  3. We were so sorry about Mr. Buttons. Your thankfuls were terrific. The Mom here does love Chinese food too. So, you all have a fantastic day.

  4. We haven’t visited our favorite Chinese place now for over four weeks… it is time! Breakfast with a friend sounds wonderful… I must be hungry. It is almost breakfast time. Joanie is a smart and lucky kitty! I did not know Mr. Buttons but I am so sorry. I have enjoyed your thankfuls!

  5. Mmm…Chinese food (that seems to have struck a chord with several other commenters too!). And yes, thank goodness for warm homes in this cold winter! Hope you have a great weekend 🙂

    1. I love it, but only get it on pedicure days. The msg makes me very itchy, I have to take Benadryl when I get home. I hope you have a good weekend too! XO

  6. A very happy list, although if i had a pedicure at the current temps, i would have to stay at the shop until i could get my regular shoes back on. They would probably get tired of me being there!

  7. You’ve a lot to be thankful for and this post lists many smiles.

Have a purrfect day and weekend. My best to your mom. ♥

  8. You have lots of nice things to be thankful for! Our mommy likes Chinese food too! She tortifies her hair at the day spa but she’d save a whole lot of our treat money if she was brave enough to do it herself.

  9. We so sorry to hear about Mr. Buttons. His last post was sweet but sad. I’m with you on Babies R Us. It doesn’t seem right to register at a place that is expensive. It’s always fun to listen to little ones’ growing vocabulary.

  10. This was such a fun list to read, Ellen! I know exactly what you mean about the “Ma’am” thing, even if it is meant to be polite, and even worse is when I’m called “Dearie” or “Sweetie” as if I was eighty and had lavender tinted hair!:-)

I loved your great-niece’s comment. Imagine the things she’ll say when she is a teenager!!!

I always colored my own hair back in the days when I was coloring it, too. Professional hair coloring is so very expensive, and there are other things I need and want to spend that kind of money on.

Pedicures are fun, feel good, and serve a necessary purpose. When I was working I was able to have one done fairly often. It is very relaxing, and even nicer when you have someone to share the experience with.

I love good Chinese food, we only have buffets in our city and they are passable but not wonderful. I miss some of the wonderful places I’ve eaten in the past. LOL at the flipflops. 🙂

It is sweet that Joanie likes to snuggle between you! A couple of our furkids have figured out that they can curl up on the armrest that separates Papa Bear’s half of the love seat recliner from mine, and this way they get pets and snuggles from both of us at the same time… great plan!

I agree with you totally about wedding and baby shower registry’s at high dollar places. For Heaven’s sake, also provide lists at places where people can afford to shop and purchase gifts within their budget. A gift certificate is usually my solution to expensive gift lists. Then they can put it toward what they want.

Oh yes, I agree about a warm home. We put in a new furnace last fall, not because we wanted to but because our old one died, literally burned up wires! It was an expensive purchase but has made such a difference in how our house heats and cools, it was well worth it and I’m glad we were able to. I’m glad you are staying nice and warm too. Winter will soon be just a memory… at least for awhile! 🙂

Thank you for joining us at Ten Things of Thankful! Have a blessed week ahead!

    1. Thank you for always commenting on each thankful. A gift certificate is a good idea for showers. 🙂 XO

  11. We are sending our purrs and prayers to Mr. Buttons’ family.

And your art and Thankfuls are wonderful! Even before I hit 20, I’d have people calling me “ma’am” instead of “miss”. I always try to not let the judgment of others get me down, but that one does sting a bit. Wishing you all a warm and wonderful Saturday!

    1. That must have been very frustrating to be ma’amed so young. I hope you had a nice Saturday too. XO

  12. We were very sad to hear about Mr Buttons. He was too young. We LOVE your list of 10 and #2 is priceless!
And your Art is SPECTACULAR!!! Black and White looks good on you Emmy!

  13. Emmy’s shopping cart photo is so cute! It really looks like an illustration. I can see it as a children’s book…
We’re happy that you have such a good list of thankfuls!
    xxoo

  14. Making note of your Nice and Easy hair coloring recommendation since I’m starting to find a few too many strands of gray hair lately 🙁

I had no idea Mr Buttons was only 7…that makes it even sadder.

    1. I waited until I was 40 to start coloring. I used to pluck, but I got to the point where I would have a giant bald spot if I continued 🙂
      Very sad about Mr. Buttons.

  15. We were very sorry to hear of Mr Buttons. Joanie, that is so sweet of you! But do you bring Gremmie with you? Oh, and kids… they say the craziest things.

  16. I’m so sorry to hear about Mr Buttons.
Those are great list of thankful. Kitty in bed with you is always the best 🙂

  17. hello 15 and meowing its dennis the vizsla dog hay that is a grayt list of thinks to be thankful for but the last wun is my fayvrit!!! i do luv beeing nice and warm!!! ok bye

  18. So sorry about the loss of another sweet creature. And so young! ~sigh~ I don’t mind if folks register somewhere expensive. I set a limit and that’s the item they get. ~grin~ Hope all is well!

  19. Lovely art and thankfuls!

My mum hates being called Madam and it happened recently and she wasn’t pleased!

She says she feels too young to be called madam and she isn’t even married so she is a miss 🙂

    Purrs xx

  20. Love you used the shopping cart photo for your art. It came out great. And your thankfuls were terrific this week. That’s how our mom declutters…just moves things from one room to another. MOL! XOCK, angel Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, angel Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo, Cooper Murphy and Sawyer

  21. I’m almost at the point where I don’t cringe when I’m informed that its’ ‘no problem’.
;p I know, they really mean, ‘you’re welcome’ and they’re young and so want their own way of talking (as I did at that age)…. lol boy do I sound old!

  22. I was prematurely gray. After 25 years of my own Nice and Easy experiences, I began to wonder what those strong chemicals that close to my head for a quarter of a century might be doing to my brain and just went cold turkey. I love my gray now— much more than I did at 25! Although, I would love to see it all white. I think that is gorgeous.

  23. I had a good giggle about what your great nice said! MOL! When my nieces were little they often said things far beyond their years, the little ones of course, are mimicking what they hear the grown ups say!
It sure was sad about dear Mr Buttons.

Where I work we are not allowed to call the residents other than by their names unless they request otherwise. It riles me when I hear young gals refer to the little old ladies they are helping as grandma or honey, etc. Would only be good if the person *was* their grandma…I find it disrespectful and demeaning.

    1. My great niece always gives us a chuckle. Very sad about Mr. Buttons. That is disrespectful to call someone grandma that is not your grandma.

  24. Great list of fankfuls. Fankfully, we don’t know nuffin’ ’bout no babies ’round here. MOL Ya’ll stay warm. Big hugs

    Luv ya’

    Dezi and Raena

  25. Kids come up with the comments sometimes that surprise us, and then you find yourself wondering where they heard that. 🙂
Miss and the dreadful Ma’am made me laugh.
It is nice that you and your Mom can enjoy doing some things together.
I hadn’t heard about Babies R Us closing because of bankruptcy. So many stores, big and small have had to close.
I hope you have a great week.

    1. Ma’am sure is dreadful. All their stores are not closing, just some. I hope you have a great week too.
