Happy Saturday everyone! Today is product day and being that Halloween is on the way, I thought the Trick or Treat cat toy would be appropriate. I actually bought mine months ago and finally got hubby to hang it for me.
I was hoping it would be a great new toy to dispense treats like a wobbly egg and ball we have. I was wrong . I wish I would have read the reviews on the Foster and Smith website before I ordered it. Some of the kitties have played with it, but when they hit the ball, all the treats come out at once which is great for them, but not what I had in mind.
If you think your cat may like it, here is the link: http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=25991&utm_campaign=bazaarvoice&utm_medium=SearchVoice&utm_source=RatingsAndReviews&utm_content=Default
I am also having a giveaway for Breast Cancer awareness month. I never got to meet my hubby’s mother because she passed away from this disease when he was in college. A couple months back, I went to the Vera Bradley Outlets and got this great purse that has pink in it and the proceeds go to Breast Cancer research. I also made a catnip mat with pink kitties for the winner’s cat(s). Just leave a comment today or tomorrow and I will announce the winner Monday morning.
Marshwood Cottage won a mat from us and those cats loved it- check out her post from yesterday : http://marshwoodcottage.blogspot.com/. Angus even picked it up in his mouth and took off with it.
Phoebe will be writing tomorrow’s post- unless one of the other kitties figures out her scheme to earn a dollar. One year Phoebe was Little Red Riding Hood and Joanie was the Wolf as Grannie. Have a nice day everyone!
Happy Saturday everyone! I am not going to recommend a product today as I am still under the weather. My first medicine didn’t agree with me so I hope the new one the ER prescribed will work. Until then, my posts will be really short. I will catch up on all my fellow bloggers soon.
I did want to announce the winner of the Vera Bradley pencil set and catnip apples though. The winner is…….Meowers from Missouri. Congratualations !
Have a great day everyone!
Happy Wednesday everyone! Don’t forget it is back to school week and we are having a contest to win the Vera Bradley pencils: Pardon Sammy, he wanted to make sure I wasn’t giving away something he may want.
Today is ROAR day and I wanted to do the mice bucket challenge. I recorded Lucy on my camera, but when I uploaded it, I only get the sound. I will have to figure that out by next week’s ROAR.
I had started doing some Fall cleaning/decluttering and saw a sign for a local shelter needing tag sale donations. PALS is one of my favorite local charities, it is also the one I crochet toys for them to sell. They are small and don’t get the grant funding like bigger places, but they are always willing to help when other places won’t For anyone in Massachusetts, if you have anything to donate, here is the link: http://www.people4animals.org/events.htm . I am actually running out of stuff to donate, I am always decluttering- I wish hubby would do the same. Whenever I mention it though, he suggest getting rid of me or some cats- LOL. I think he is kidding.
Have a nice day everyone!
Happy Tuesday everyone. First off, if there were a Florence Nightingale award for cats, the award would go to my Joanie: .
I have been under the weather all weekend and she has stayed by my side in bed, on the couch and even in the bathroom ( that is dedication).
Today is Medical today and I am going to continue KaTwo’s story. She has a rare disease called Feline Hyperesthesia Syndrome. Here is a link that describes it in greater detail: http://www.vet.cornell.edu/FHC/health_resources/HyperesthesiaSyndrome.cfm. The main issue is she attacks her tail, not just playing like some cats do, she really injures herself. She also lets out awful screech noises when she is doing this. It is a medical/behavioral issue. When I first adopted KaTwo, she came with a bottle of kitty prozac- there was no way to get it into her though.
After several trips to the vet and many tests later to rule out other illnesses, she was officially diagnosed with Hyperesthesia and given a different medicine. The medicine was in drops and I was able to get them into her, but it did nothing to change her behavior. She doesn’t like to be with other cats and she likes peace and quiet. As long as she can be alone ( with company from me) then she is fine. Well, mostly, I think about once a week she screeches and it is always on a day that I don’t get to give her enough attention. Luckily, she doesn’t need the meds now.I am sure she displayed this often at the shelter because there was so much noise from the dogs and it was a stressful situation. Look at her now: .
Have a nice day everyone and don’t forget to enter to comment to be entered to win the Vera Bradley pencils in our Back to School week giveaway.
Happy Labor Day to my U.S. readers and Happy Labour Day to my Canadian readers- Happy Monday to everyone else! Its a holiday, but I am starting my ” Back to School ” theme week today. Here are the kitties waiting for the bus: Looks like only one can fit on the bus.
Actually today is fun and games day so here is a pattern for an apple to crochet: http://thecraftfrog.com/2010/08/10/apple/ . Just add catnip and it will be a great toy for your kitty. I aplogize to those of you that don’t crochet. I did find a cute pencil to knit, I wish I knew how. Here it is: http://flutterbypatch.blogspot.com/2009/01/woolly-pencils.html . I would cute the yarn off at the tip though for safety.
And for Back to School week , we have a contest. Last week at the Vera Bradley outlet, I got this great package of pencils in the Barcelona print: I will also make some crocheted catnip apples for the kitties. Just make a comment this week sometime to be entered. I will pick a winner Saturday. Thanks for reading everyone and enjoy the rest of your day.
Hi everyone! I have another contest to announce at the end of this post. First off, today is medical day and I want to write about bad breath- not ours, our kitties. Unless you brush your cat’s teeth everyday and even if you do, there will be some odor. You will know what I am talking about if your cat has really bad breath.
Bad breath can be a sign of many medical issues so it is best to get a veterinary check up. Some issues can be bad teeth, kidney disease and tummy troubles. Here is a good article to read about it in more detail: http://pets.webmd.com/cats/guide/bad-breath-cats.
I wish I could brush all my cats’ teeth, but that would take all day. Lucy has bad breath ( don’t tell her that I told you) and I have had her teeth cleaned recently as well as labwork. She eats only canned food so I think that has something to do with it.
Now for the contest…this one is not cat oriented, but I thought some of our readers may be interested. I subscribe to Country Living Magazine and I just got a renewal to buy one get one free. If you want a year’s subscription for free from me then please comment today and I will announce the winner tomorrow. Sorry that this is only for U.S. residents.
Thank you for reading and have a nice day. I am off to the outlets with my mom and niece. I am hoping to find something at the Vera Bradley Outlet to have as a contest prize for next week.I wonder why Vera Bradley doesn’t have a cat print? They have birds, snails and elephants…
