Goodbye My Sweet Tallulah

We had to help our sweet Tallulah to the Rainbow Bridge today. Before Christmas, she was peeing out of the box. Tests showed an infection and the start of kidney disease. She had 2 weeks of antibiotics and then an antibiotic shot. She was down to 4 pounds despite her thyroid being in normal range ( on meds). She had  gained a little weight when checked at 2 other visits. The xray showed nothing and the ultrasound yesterday showed nothing. I knew when I was told she lost a pound in 9 days  that it was time and the vet agreed. I asked for one more day. My husband and I both gave her all our attention yesterday. She watched cat videos on my laptop, chased the laser, ate treats and whipped cream. We had a day that I will never forget.

Tallulah showed up in 2006, I thought Jinx had escaped because they looked similar. She was always sweet to us. She was especially close to Noel and Polar Bear. I brought her to say goodbye to them and they each gave her a head bump, they knew.

I won’t be posting for a few days. My Friendly Fill-In co-host will still be running the hop tomorrow so you can check Four-Legged Furballs for the fill-ins.

Goodbye Sweet Purrince

We are not joining any hops today. This post is dedicated to Phoebe’s Purrince. I never thought when she left for the Rainbow Bridge last year that he would be joining her so soon. Rest in peace sweet boy.

To visit his mom, click here.

My comments are shut off today because he was not mine to mourn although I still do mourn for him.

Here are the fill-ins for Friday. I came up with the first 2 and my co-host, Lorianne of Four-Legged Furballs came up with the second 2.

Mom is letting me write today because I didn’t get to yesterday. You know who is better than The Easter Bunny? Grammie!!! I love her so very much!

Look at all these goodies! They are for everyone except I got to pick one bag just for me. I picked the purple bag.

Mom planted some cat grass for me, but most of it just started to SPROUT ( #PMT phothunt)   @tonkstail

I even visited with The Great One. She seems to like me, she kept handing me toys. All the other kitties were hiding.

Today is the letter N for the A-Z Blogging Challenge.

We have a crocheted NIP tea bag.

We are joining Comedy Plus’ Awww… Mondays blog hop, we are skipping the reading one today because Mom is lazy.

Guest Post with Cat Scout Maggie

Hi everyone, we are lucky to have Cat Scout Maggie here today for a guest post.32-Maggie-Cougar-Hat Hello, everybody!  Happy New Year! We’re sure you all received lots of books for Christmas, and I’d like to tell you about two of my favorites.  I’m still reading another one, so that will be covered in a future post!

First, an oldie but timeless goodie: T.S.Eliot’s Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats was published in 1939 and has never been out of print.  It is a book of poetry that formed the basis for the hit musical “Cats,” and many editions have been illustrated.  Mine has great drawings by that wonderful fellow Edward Gorey.  The poems are humorous and serious, but all reflect the author’s great admiration for our feline world.  If you haven’t yet read it, I urge you to get a copy!TSEliot

Another wonderful book, just published by Thames and Hudson, is Cats Galore, created by artist Susan Herbert.  CatsGalore

Herbert takes famous artworks and replaces the principal figures with feline ones.  From Botticelli’s Birth of Venus to the Sistine Chapel, from medieval prayer books to impressionist masterworks, our feline counterparts offer a new slant on art appreciation!

The book includes Cats in Art, Cats on Stage (including famous theater posters) and Cats in the Movies.  Ben Hur, Casablanca and Lawrence of Arabia are but a few of the artist’s film interpretations using us as the stars!

HI everyone! I hope you all had a nice Christmas, I sure did. Grammie was here Christmas Eve and Day. I love her so very much. She brought us lots of presents, individually wrapped for each of us. And someone else did that for us too and it wasn’t Santa. It was our new Auntie, Peaches and Paprika’s Mom who joined us for Christmas dinner. We still have lots more gifts to open, but Mom was too tired to help us- phooey! Cat4-001

I got my Grammie a mug for Christmas with my photos all over it:

026I made a sign for my new pole so it would be safe with all the company we had. Someone even left me $1.

Sammy got to open his gift from his Secret Santa at Cat Scouts which was Oliver of Four Crazy Cats : He got a cool igloo, a laser and lots of other goodies.

004Oliver sent some yummy foods too and Sammy even shared with us.

You know how I always tell you my Mom sings bad? Well, Christmas Eve day her and Dad were in the kitchen cooking when she started singing- and he thought she cut herself and was crying out in pain- MOL!

I will write about more about our Christmas on Thursday and I am going to start a giveaway that day too.

The Rainbow Bridge has still been busy:

Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day

Today is Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day:RainbowBridgeRemembranceDay [500px]

Hosted by Deborah Barnes : http://zeezoey.com/ A special day to remember all our friends that have gone to the bridge to wait for us there. Over the years, I have lost many rabbits, dogs, cats, guinea pigs, fish and hermit crabs too. I felt a loss over each and every one of them, but one in particular truly broke my heart.

My KaChoo was my first official cat, I adopted her in 1994 when she was a kitten. I used to always tell her she had to give me 20 years, but it wasn’t to be, she went to the Bridge at 16 and a half. We were very bonded and I will always miss her.

KaChoo’s baby photo-my Mom kept the gray one and named her Sheba.( she survived KaChoo by a year).   KaChoo3

My hubby had a cat when we got married and she lived to be 19, her name was Patches, but he always called her Ratchie – I scanned a photo of her, but it is in an Adobe file and as you all know, I am technologically challenged.

We also lost Brina in 2011, she was a 3-legged tortie persian that I adopted from my sister when she was already older.

brina1and our cat-loving dog Katie also went to the bridge that year:

Katey

And beautiful Barney left us is 2013 . I pray we don’t have any more loss for a long time. I don’t know if there is an actual rainbow bridge or not, but I know all these pure souls would go to Heaven.

I am co-hosting the Feeling Beachie’s Follow Friday Fill-In Fun, but I didn’t want to interfere with this special day so I will post my fill-ins tomorrow.

At Home Test Kit for Cats

Saturday again already, its a long weekend here in the US for Labor Day. This has been another sad week in the blogging world. I was saddened to read about Jewel from:  http://fureverywhere.blogspot.com/  going to the Rainbow Bridge. Loving pets takes a strong heart because you know how it is going to end-too soon. But, I will take the pain any day to have enjoyed the love of a cat and I know that is how all of you feel too.

Today is product day and I haven’t purchased this yet, but I plan to. This is an at home test kit to check for 3 medical issues that are all to common in cats- diabetes, UTI and protein in urine. This kit can’t replace veterinary care, but it can be a good starting point. Here is the link : http://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BLNR0ZI/ref=smi_www_rcolv2_go_smi?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creativeASIN=B00BLNR0ZI&linkCode=xm2&redirect=true&tag=healhand-20 . For under $20, it is a great way to save your cat the torture of traveling to an appointment if one is not needed.

Next week is a special school themed week. I am thinking of starting “Kitty Kindergarten” similar to Cat Scouts. Kitties could attend online once a week and get a report card and a certificate to post on their blogs and other social media. Would anyone be interested?
