We Will Miss You Drake

We had to say goodbye to Drake this morning. He has had a lot of health problems for months, was deaf, blind  and his arthritis was really bad. He had been able to get around despite walking a little sideways until Sunday when his back legs didn’t want to work. Monday morning , I had to leave to bring David to his colonoscopy and we feared coming home to find him gone, but he waited. He seemed to perk up a little last night and was eating well and could walk a little but would flop over after a short time. We couldn’t allow him to suffer so we made the difficult decision this morning to let him go.

We have had him for 5 years, but he was older when he came to us so I am not sure of his age. I am sure that we miss him terribly.

I loved those white whiskers against his black fur.

I will be here for the fill-ins Friday. Blogging is the only thing keeping me sane right now with all this loss in my life.

  18. Sending comforting purrz. Poor Drake had very little quality of life and you were right to let him go. I know it hurts but you saved him from pain and suffering two things cats don’t like to show in front of their humans.
