Lola Diary of a Rescued Cat

Hi everyone! Today I have a review of Lola Diary of a Rescued Cat by Lola and Dawn White. Many of you have probably read it and follow Lola’s blog, but just in case someone doesn’t know about Lola I want to spread the word.

002 I was thrilled to get this for Christmas. Not surprised though, I requested it from my husband.

Lola tells her story of being abandoned in a dumpster as a kitten to the good life she lives now. It is told in an easy to read diary format. I don’t like to give out too many details, but if you haven’t read the book, you should.

I love that we hear Lola’s fears of what is happening to her and I hope that it makes people realize how scared a cat is to be tossed out. I also love how Lola was slowly introduced to Lexy which is so important for a happy household. So many people think they can just bring in a new pet with no introductions and then wonder why there are issues.

There are several other rescue stories at the end of the book, 26 to be exact. You will definitely get your money’s worth. You can get an autographed copy through her blog- click here . You can also find a copy on Amazon or Barnes and Noble.

Mattless Monday

Happy Monday everyone! Thank you to all of you who said kind things about my awful singing, I appreciate it. I was recently contacted by the Amazon company, GoPets. They offered me a product in exchange for adding their link to my blog.

I am so thrilled with their products that I am doing a review today and tomorrow. I chose the Best Dematting Comb for Cats and Dogs because Tallulah had a couple matts that I was unable to remove with a comb or brush. They came out with 2 passes of this tool.

Next is KaTwo, she can’t reach the middle of her back so there is always an excessive amount of fur built up. 019020 021This removed it with just a couple of strokes. Regular combs don’t remove that undercoat unless I comb in the opposite direction which really irritates KaTwo. This didn’t even upset her, she seemed to enjoy it.

If you are interested in getting one, here is the link. They are on sale and there is free shipping if you spend over $35 so why not buy one as a gift too?

They have several other products, I will tell you about another one tomorrow.

Basil the Bionic Cat

Happy Friday everyone! Today I have a long overdue book review. I won a copy of Basil The Bionic Cat by Cathrine Garnell back in September, but as you know, I haven’t been reading as much without my Lucy.

Lucy used to pose on my robe with the book, but now like Tiny Tim’s chair, it sits alone.

The book is for children aged 8-12, but I really enjoyed it so I think it should be for ages 8-adult. Basil is a cat that lives in a manor with Mr. And Mrs. Pilkington , their twin daughters and an Aunt. Mr. Pilkington is a bit of a mad scientist ( I envision Doc in Back to the Future) and Basil ends up stepping in the wrong thing leaking from the lab.

This book is full of suspense and mystery as the twins get kidnapped. Fortunately, Basil has developed some new powers from the substance he stepped in. As you know, I don’t like to give long reviews for fear of giving out too much information. I can assure you that this book won’t disappoint. I think it would be a great gift this holiday season for kids and cat loving adults.

Basil has his own blog:

You can purchase the book in the U.S. at Amazon The Kindle version is only $2.99 ( free for Kindle Unlimited)

and at Amazon UK

See you for hopping tomorrow.

Cats on the Job: 5o Fabulous Felines Who Purr, Mouse and Even Sing for Their Supper

Happy Friday everyone! It is sad to do a book review without my Lucy, but I got this book to review after she went to The Bridge. Cats on the Job: 50 Fabulous Felines Who Purr, Mouse and Even Sing for Their Supper by Lisa Rogak is an excellent book filled with all sorts of cats who “work”. In most cases, the word work is a bit of a stretch, but all these cats make life better for the people near them.

One cat lives in a bookstore that is named after him. Boswell’s Books is in Shelburne Falls, MA. Being that this is in my state, I hope to get their sometime soon ( hint, hint to Phoebe’s Grammie).

I also enjoyed reading about Roommate cats in Tokyo. A cat and all their essentials is included in an apartment rental. When the renter moves, they have the option to adopt the cat.

There were also some cats at sea that I am sure you will be hearing more about from our guest posters Cat Scouts Maggie and Felix. I could go on and on, but you get the idea. If you are interested you can get a copy at Amazon. Paperback and Kindle are $9.99.

See you for some hopping tomorrow.

Kitty Couch Sofa Cat Scratcher

Happy tummy and tortie Tuesday everyone! There will be a tortie and some tummies, but first we want to tell you about the great prize we won from Cat Chat with Caren and Cody :  They always have great giveaways, they are having one for Lola the Cat’s book right now.

We won the Kitty Couch Sofa Cat Scratcher by Feline Be Mine. Joanie claimed it before I could even get it out of the box and plastic it was wrapped in.010012She knew what to do with it right away.

027Sammy knew too- he has powerful paws and it did stood up to them quite well.

The others just like lounging and bathing on it. It is never empty, there is always a cat on it. Stinky was hogging it so I had to move her so Joanie could get it back, she was so happy she even showed her tummy.

Sammy is 20 pounds and can nap on it so it is a generous size. You can get your own on sale with free shipping on Amazon by clicking here : cat scratcher

002Penny wants to remind everyone to get their free coffee at McDonald’s today ( and many other places too) for National Coffee Day. She also wants to say hello to Toby ( .

The Good Luck Cat

Happy Friday everyone! Lucy is such a trooper that she is going to help me with a book review even though she still doesn’t feel well. The blood work was all good except her white blood cell count was elevated a little. She will still need the ultrasound to tell if it is inflammation or infection causing the rise. She ate better Wednesday than Thursday, but as long as she eats something I will be happy. Thank you all again for the purrs and prayers.

The Good Luck Cat: How a Cat Saved a Family, and a Family Saved a Cat by Lisa Warren. 003

Lucy and I loved this book, well I did and Lucy enjoyed cuddling with me while I was reading it. I love cats and memoirs so a memoir that includes a cat is an ideal combination for me. Lisa Warren writes about her life with her parents and the love they all had for their cat named Ping.

Like every family, they have some heartbreak and sweet Ping helps them through it. I won’t go into too many details as I like to keep reviews short because as my hubby says, I have the attention span of a fruit fly. I will tell you that when something happens to Ping they treat her as they would one another. I wish all people treated their cats as members of the family, I know many do, but I wish everyone did. I recommend this book to everyone that loves cats and treats them as family members. It is available on Amazon:

I actually read a copy from the library. 🙂 See you tomorrow for lots of hopping and Phoebe will be back on Sunday. Have a great Labor Day weekend!

Frolicat Pounce

Happy Monday everyone! Today is fun and games day and we have something fun that we won from our friends Dezi and Lexi ( The Frolicat Pounce!

010It came in a nice big box 011 012Joanie and Stinky really had some fun 019Prancie did too! So I decided to make a video but,you know how cats are:

Some of my kitties were not interested, but I still think it is a great toy. There are 4 playing levels and it will stop automatically which is a nice feature. Most of my kitties are older so I can see why they were not interested, it would be like giving a rattle to a teenager. The link is here if you are looking to buy one:

My kitties also partied with our friend Billy the Time Cat this weekend- that kitty knows how to throw a party- you should visit him:

And Sammy is back from his Cat Scouts trip to The Grand Canyon:

groupcanyonHere he is with lots of his friends on their elegant plane. He was exhausted when he got home:

Phoebe will announce the winner of the #selfie socks and some catnip toys tomorrow – she will also announce another giveaway for The Perseid Meteor shower August 11-13th. I have my fingers crossed for rain on Wednesday night or my hubby is going to make me go outside with him from 1-3AM.

A Monday Book Review

Happy Monday everyone! Today is usually fun and games day, but in reality every day is fun and games day here for my kitties. I wish all kitties were so lucky, but as you all know many are in need.

I was thrilled when I won a copy of the children’s book The Perfect Place for Toodles from Melissa’s Mochas Mysteries and Meows ( )

I was excited to read it because the author supposedly wanted to promote responsible pet ownership. It starts off great, a family with 2 children adopt a kitten and give him lots of love. They even dress him up for the holidays like I do to my kitties.

Then they have to move to a place where they can’t have pets. It sounds like they are going to leave him behind until the kids ask the parents to have a neighbor take him. In the end he takes one last trip to the beach with the family and runs away. His kitty friends at the beach welcome him and that is the end. I loved the photos and the start, but this book took a horrible turn. I do not think it promotes responsibility at all.

I was also upset that the author, a former Elementary School teacher, thinks this is a happy ending. I am torn between just tossing the book so this bad message is not spread or selling it on Amazon and donating the proceeds to a shelter. I welcome your opinions and will do what the majority votes.

I do plan to write reviews on Amazon, Barnes and Noble and Goodreads to let people know this is not the book they should get for their children.

Here is the Amazon link, hopefully my review will be listed there soon:

Dangled Carat

Happy Friday everyone! Today is book day and Lucy and I are both recommending Dangled Carat by Hilary Grossman. Many of you know Hilary from her blog Feeling Beachie (  ) . I enjoy her Friday Fun fill-ins and stories of her cat, Lucy. One week, she was offering her book Dangled Carat on the Kindle for 99cents so I decided to give it a try. I am kicking myself for not ordering it sooner because it was such an excellent story.

I love memoirs and books with cats so this was the perfect blend for me. In the book, Hilary meets a wonderful, kind and handsome man that wantd to date her. Everything starts out well until she realizes he has some commitment issues. He wasn’t a cheater or anything like that, but he wasn’t getting down on one knee in a normal timespan. If I had read this when I was younger, I would have been thinking she should jusy dump him if he didn’t want to be married. Now that I am older, I can understand why she stayed with him for so long – I am not going to tell you much more because I don’t want to ruin the ending for you. I will say that her boyfriend did have a pet cat named Alex and anyone that takes good care of their cat has to be good. Here is the Amazon link: .

PS: For anyone that doesn’t already know, Hilary has a cat named Lucy now. That makes her wonderful as far as my Lucy is concerned.

See you tomorrow for all our hops.
