Hi everyone! Here are our selfies for this week.

We are joining The Cat on My Head’s Sunday Selfies.

Rusty and Rudy felt cheated that they weren’t featured last Wednesday so here they are today.

Tuffy was distracted by the woodpecker at the hummingbird feeder. He coexists with the hummingbirds, but we are going through a lot of sugar water. Has anyone else ever had a woodpecker drink from their hummingbird feeder?

    We sometimes see woodpeckers at the hummer feeders. Mostly the little Downy Woodpecker. The orioles drink there, too…when their jelly and oranges are all gobbled up. If you make your feeder orange you might attract them also.
    I have issues with the starlings, grackles and cowbirds…they are bullies and ‘pigs’.

        1. So far they leave them alone because so many others still feed suet which they love. XO

  6. Hey boys – looking good as a ginger should! Never seen a woodpecker at the hummingbird feeder but I reckon they get thirsty too!!!!!

  7. Three very beautiful orange cats today. And the only woodpecker I have ever caught on my hummingbird feeder are Downy woodpeckers. And they’re small enough they don’t seem to make the sugar go down and they don’t sway the jar too badly.

  8. I haven’t had a woodpecker have a drink at the hummingbird feeder but I DO have a very extremely unwelcome squirrel!

  10. Great selfies of the orangies. There is a tiny bird, other than a hummingbird, that drinks from our hummingbird feeder but we don’t know what kind of bird it is. I’m surprised the hummingbirds don’t pitch a fit since they are territorial birds.

    OMCs this is the first year in the 30+ years I have feed hummers that other birds are also at the feeder. I have ID’d to new species the Chicka-hummer and the Titmouse-hummer and honey bees. I have two styles of feeders 1 like yours with the flat feeder areas. I think when the chickadees and titmouse land on the flat feeder like yours they shake it up enough to spill some of the water out. They drink that and of course it attracts the bees.

    All of my introoders seem successful at getting something from the flat feeding areas.
    I put out another feeder the feeding areas not flat it is shaped like a flower with bee guards on it. None can get anything out of them…….YET….
    I hope this posts…but just in case I’m sending it to you via email. Next time I go to JoAnn’s I will walk down to the Wild Birds Unlimited store to ask about this behavior.

  15. Rusty and Rudy, you’re sure looking good. And Tuffy, we don’t blame you for being distracted … we have never seen a woodpecker who liked sugar water!

  17. It’s fun to see the Hooligans. I’m thinking I won’t be able to call them that what with Rusty calming down some. That is a great distraction for Tuffy. We did have woodpeckers visit our hummer feeders at the Tiny Ten. We had Orioles visit them too.

    1. They are not that calm, they just had the crazies so they are still hooligans. 🙂 XO
      PS: We had an oriole once when we first put it out in May.

  18. I’ve never heard of a woodpecker eating sugar water. Perhaps it was eating ants at the feeder. ??? Either way, what beautiful kitties and kudos to the photographer. Hugs, my dear.

    1. No ants as we have an ant trap that you add water to at the top. I looked it up and it happens often, we just never had one before. XO

  20. Rusty and Rudy, you are both handsome. Please remember, though, handsome is as handsome does, so sometimes you might have to share a day or let someone else have a day without getting jealous.

  22. o wood peckers in New Zealand but our Silvereyes love the nectar feeder we have. That’s a lovely photo, the light shows Tuffy up beautifully!!
