Sparks and a Review from Joanie

Hi everyone! We are joining Comedy Plus’ Awww…. Mondays and McGuffy’s Reader’s Sparks blog hops.

Joanie finally had time to do some reading not that the furbies are hibernating.

Henry the Christmas Cat by Mary Calhoun is a children’s picture book about a Siamese cat named Henry. He follows his family to church where the kid is in a Christmas pageant and he ends up rescuing the sheep. It was cute story and there are many other books about his adventures.

And for my Spark, I am continuing with ideas to spread joy this holiday season. This may seem like an odd one, but you should give a tip or a gift to your garbage man. We give ours a Dunkin Donuts gift card and a bottle of the hubby’s homemade wine. I know this is a tough time of year for many , but it is the thought that counts. If you can’t afford to give  tip or gift, you could make cookies or candy. I am sure they appreciate being though of. I know my delivery people are enjoying our snacks, especially the ones that work late.

  1. MeOW we wish we could dump your trash awnty Ellen. We could do without the wine, but mommy’s been cravin’ donuts. And, it sounds like we’d live close enuff to a donut store she might could have one now and again. Big hugs

    Luv ya’

  2. It is a blessing to those who work so hard that they be remembered. Thanks for the idea, i am going to work on something for them.

  3. Ellen,

I think giving a tip or gift is a lovely idea. I’ve done this in years’ past and sometimes when I have appointments scheduled during the holiday season I’ll bake something for my doctor’s office. It really does make a person’s day a little brighter. Thanks for sharing!

  4. I have been in the mood to read lots of festive books lately, and I will definitely have to check this cute one out! I also love the festive ideas your are giving. This is so thoughtful, and I will definitely have to do this.

  5. Great ideas! We always try to come up with a little something for our garbage man and our paper delivery couple. I imagine they’re often forgotten and they do provide a great service! 🙂

  6. That is such a good suggestion to give the people that serve you a nice Christmas gift. We always give our mail lady something. You all have a fantastic Monday.

    1. Thank you. I could go for a donut too- I just watched the show Superior Donuts and they always have donuts in the background 🙂

  7. That’s a great idea about tipping the garbage man. Unfortunately, we don’t know who that is…or how to leave something for him/them. We do tip our newspaper carrier.

  8. Lovely idea to tip the garbage man… he does a lot of hard work and could use a smile or two… Our garbage man used to also be our neighbor!

The Mom loves reading children’s books to us! Henry sounds like a very kind cat to help sheep in a Christmas pageant.

Purrz from Chiquita who loves helping Mom type by holding her arm down (MOL)

  9. Awww on Joanie. So cute.

I love your idea. We need to do more too. We have so many that work so hard and sometimes you remember some, but not others. I’ll work on that.

Have a purrfect Awww Monday. My best to your peeps. ♥

  10. When my daughters were younger, we tied candy canes with a thank you note to the bags for our garage collectors. The look of surprise on their faces was fun to see. Now that my daughters are grown and gone, I still continue to do this every year. And, I hope Joanie enjoyed her book. It looks like a cute story.

  11. We tried to give our garbage collectors gifts for two years, but they never took the gifts and left them behind. Perhaps they aren’t allowed to accept gifts? It saddened us.

  12. Oh I bet your garbage guy loves you! Same with all the delivery peeps with the basket of snacks. You are SOOOOOOOOO thoughtful!

    Hugs, Teddy

  13. That’s such a great idea – I hadn’t even thought of the garbage men. I love how many great things you’re doing to keep the real spirit of Christmas alive. Have a really lovely week.

  14. Ohhh we think Dunkin’ Donuts is purrfect this time of year, warm coffee and a yummy donut on a cold morning
