Selfie Sunday

Hi everyone! Thank you all for your kind words and purrs and prayers for my health. I am trying my best to be healthy. Mom thanks you all for the tips and product suggestions.

I scared the BeeGees out of my folks Saturday and  they schlepped me off to the vet. I was running back and forth to different litter boxes and meowing and trying to hide. The vet says mirtazapine wouldn’t cause that, but some of my friends that use it have acted funny too.

My folks keep begging me to eat. Dad brought a moth in for me to play with and I caught it-then he took it away- phooey! He thought it would upset my tummy. That I would have eaten.

My Grammie has a bad cold so I haven’t seen her since Wednesday. I love her so very much, I hope she comes to see me soon.

My purrince wrote me a fun poem:

Silly poe-em fur Phoebe
“While thee weather outside iss pawfull,
thee A/C iss so-o deelitefull…
An since wee have no place to go…..
let it snow, let it sn…oh wait it’ss not Winter…
An since wee have no place to go,
let thee A/C blow; let it blow!!!”

I want to thank PetFaves blog for featuring me on their Pet Blogger’s Showcase.

I am joining The Cat on my Head’s Sunday Selfie Blog Hop.

  1. Eat, Phoebe, eat! Inappetence is a terror to you and for your whole family! If you can’t eat your good food, your Mom can liquify it for you with water and feed it to you with a syringe! You need liquids too, so the syringe is really very efficient. Please, Phoebe, you need food and hydration.

    <3 <3 ^-.-^

    1. Thank you. I am on pepcid now which seems to help. I do drink a lot of water. XO

  2. Phoebe, I am glad you are getting so much good advice from everybody! All I have to offer is purrs, and I am sending you lots.

    1. I use to eat them often and they did upset my tummy. I like hunting them though.

  3. Oh, Phoebe! We had no idea you weren’t feeling well. There was a period where Kitty wasn’t eating (she had an inflamed fang removed and she developed hepatic lipidosis from not eating long term) and the vet showed me how to force feed her with a syringe. Before I attempted that though, I got the brilliant idea to open up a pouch of treats. She ate 5 … then 10 … then the whole bag!!! Just by getting something in her, she felt well enough to eat her regular food. I was embarrassed to admit to the vet what I’d done – but she said that for a few days – and with the favorable result – it was better that she got something even if it wasn’t nutritionally complete. I say that only because I know how much you like your party mix. My kitties love Whisker Lickens’ because they have a soft variety. We hope you’re back to your wonderful self soon, Phoebe. And thank you for linking up for the Showcase!

    1. Thank you. I did eat 15 party mixes today, some days I wouldn’t even eat those though. XO

  4. Phoebe, we don’t know how much mirtazapine you are taking, but you may be able to lower your does and have it still work for you with no strange side effects. We continue to purr, prayer and send POTP to you. Thanks for hopping. You were there for the 1st one, and we are so happy you continue to join us. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, angel Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo and Cooper Murphy

    1. I compared notes with Kali, and I was taking twice as much as her which must have been the problem. XO

  5. We’re rooting for you, Phoebe! You really should eat, eat, eat! My Angel Rosie took mirtazapine one time, and she got a little spazzed on it. She did a lot of running back and forth, too. Many, many, many purrs and prayers to you, Phoebe!

    1. I am not going to take that again, it was scary. Thank you for the purr and prayers. XO

  6. Mirtazapine?? Now our human is confused. She just googled to check on her lousy memory, but it’s indeed something she’s taken some years ago (didn’t work for her, but didn’t cause litter issues either 😉 ) . Is this supposed to increase your appetite / make you feel more comfortable?

P.S. We think you should have eaten the mot! Why not? Humans…

    1. Yes, it is the same thing. It does increase appetite. I am eating today without it, I have anti nausea meds and pepcid.

  7. Oh Angel Sammy used to LOVE to eat moths….I’ve not tried one yet but I have eaten a cricket or two and am finding that skinks are rather tasty too. Phoebe I am hoping that you are feeling better this morning……too much medication can make us a little wacky sometimes so maybe you’re just adjusting to yours???

    Love and Hugs, Teddy

    1. You are funny Teddy. I used to eat moths, but they do upset the tummy XO and love to you and your Mom too!

  8. Oh!! Phoebe we are so saddened at learning of your not feeling well. Please eat!! You need the strength. Your mom and Grammie need you–and so do we!! We love you so much. Please take care and know we are praying for you. Love, Toby and the Crew.

    1. Thank you,you are very sweet. I did eat today, the pepcid and ant nausea must be helping. XO

  9. Oh Phoebe, we so hope you feel better really soon. We sure send lots of purrs and prayers too. And some strong hee Haws too. We will all cross our paws for you. Have a good Sunday.

  10. Oh heck Phoebe, please eat something if only treats, that will sure help. Fortiflora is also really nice too. My peep has mirtazapine and is one of the reasons we are all on a diet. It also causes sleepiness in humans, a lot.
Sending lots of purrs for your appetite to come back very very soon.
    ERin

    1. Thank you, I am no longer taking it. I get pepcid and anti nausea meds now instead. XO

  11. Oh, Phoebe, I am so sorry you are having such a hard time. Grizelda eats bugs, too. She especially likes spiders. That freaks me out.

Side effects of Mirtazapine in cats can include restlessness, agitation, and vocalization. You are right to keep an eye on her, with her age and other issues. Any unusual behaviour should be reported.

    Prayers and love.

    1. We reported it , we rushed her right over to the vet. She is not going to take that for now, unless she completely stops eating again. I can’t believe the vet said they never have problems with this medicine. XO and love to you too!

  12. I’ve been thinking about you and sending you good kitty vibes. I hope you feel better soon and that you eat so your peeps will be happy.

Have a purrfect Selfie Sunday. My best to your wonderful mom and dad. ☺

  13. That truly is a cute poem your purrince wrote for you! I hope your parents can find you something that you’ll eat! I know how distressing it is for them to see you not eat and trying lots of food. Please, sweet Phoebe, eat!

  15. glad your feeling some better. Remember to eat and drink, Nice of Purrince to write you a fun poem. Like Brian’s idea but would smashed up sardines really work?

  16. Oh Phoebe, we’re so sorry you had to go to the VET, but we’re so glad you’re fightin’ to stay healthy. Those moths aren’t very tasty, so you purrobably wouldn’t have eaten it. But, ya’ don’t want anythin’ to upset an empty tummy, so your daddy did good. We’re sendin’ hugs and purrayers. Ifin ya’ll need anythin’, just holler. big hugs

    Luv ya’

  17. Phoebe, if the mirtazapine is making you real crazy (it’s referred to as “meow”zapine), tell your mom to ask the vet about using cyproheptadine. It’s an appetite stimulant too and it doesn’t have some of the side effects that mirtz does. You do have to take it every day, though, not every 3 days like mirtz. Wally seems to do better on cypro, not as crazy.

Running to boxes like that makes us think you might have a uti. We send you a ton of purrs and hope you’re feeling better.

    1. Thank you, Mom asked for that first and the vet said it is hard to get, but if the mirt didn’t work they would try. Thankfully, she is eating with a combo of anti nausea meds and pepcid. SHe also had an antibiotic shot yesterday in case it is a UTI.Thank you 🙂

  18. Dear Ms Phoebe,
My brother Kozmo tells me that you are a wonderful lady cat and that you have a most incredible sense of humor. He is sad that you are not feeling well, and that he is sending purrayers, I am sending purrayers you are better too!

  19. That medicine made Minko all crazy too…so it was d/c’d and petcretary force fed him by hand for about three years. Quite a chore, but he accepted it and it did keep him going for a long time. He also was on Pepcid…and Prilosec.
She found really tiny spoons, put about 1/8 – 1/4 tsp on the back of that spoon, opened his mouth with one hand and put in the food to the back of his mouth with the otherhand…then she would gently hold his mouth until he swallowed it. Sort of like giving a pill. Only tastier! She had him up on the counter for this, A three ounce can, twice a day, sometimes three of them. (Grain-free, chicken pate.) Every once in a while he would eat on his own a few bites. Of course his issues were not the same as Phoebe’s…

I hope your Grammie feels better soon.

    1. That is amazing that you were able to keep him eating like that for 3 years I didn’t know about prilosec, I will ask the vet about it if we have more problems, but thankfully, she is eating now. XO

  20. I’m so sorry you aren’t feeling well. I do hope you have recovered and started eating again. Humans always worry when furry loves won’t eat.
