#RememberMeThursday

Hi everyone! We are joining Brian’s Thankful Thursday Blog Hop.

I am thankful for Joanie and all my rescue cats. I have only had four cats from shelters and all the rest showed up, were part of TNR ( I only did the TN part) or adopted after their owner passed away. I love them all.

Joanie and her angel brother, Sammy came from a shelter. I had seen Sammy on Petfinder and went to get him only to find out he had a sister in the cage with him. They were four and a half at the time.  The shelter said it didn’t matter if they stayed together, but there was no way I was leaving her behind. The minute I held her, she purred.

Every night she purrs me to sleep and every morning she licks my face to wake me.

If you have a rescue pet, please share his/her story on FB today or Instagram with the tag #RememberMeThursday and #ShineALight!

We are also joining Angel Sammy’s Poetry Day.  And here is the photo prompt provided:

Mom said no screentime for me
unless I eat all of my broccoli.
Even the dog won’t give it a chew.
I guess I need to stuff it in my shoe.
Here are the Friendly Fill-Ins for tomorrow. I came up with the first two and my co-host, Lorianne of Four-Legged Furballs came up with second two.
1. I find ________________________ annoying.
2. _______________ is a favorite charity of mine.
3. I often have to explain _________ to others.
4. There’s a lot of _________ in my life these days.

  1. Awww, most of our kitties showed up at the door or were found on roads or in neighborhoods too. I won’t be able to do a new post, but I can repost my 2021 Remember Me Thursday on Facebook. XO

  2. Oh, we adore your kitties, too, and Joanie is a love. How wonderful to wake up to her litle tongue. What a treasure. Thank you for fill-ins each Friday.

  3. Most of the cats we had here in the earlier days were strays that turned up and stayed. Years ago there was a naval estate 3 fields away from us. When the families were posted elsewhere they very often left their pets behind, but they soon found their way to us. The naval housing was sold off in the late 90s and became private housing. Now we never get any strays here, although I sometimes wish we would.

  4. You have given so many homeless or helpless cats a wonderful home – and that’s the spirit of REMEMBER ME THURSDAY for sure. We think that poem of yours is FABULOUS and we give it an A+ !!!!!

Love and Hugs, Teddy and Mom Pam

  5. Joanie and Angel Sammy couldn’t have asked for a better human mom and a greater place to live. I like to think Precious feels that way here. If everybody would try to just a bit harder than there wouldn’t have to be so many cats running loose and so many cats waiting in the Humane Society.

  6. 1. I find deliberately ear blasting loud mufflers on little 4 cylinder cars very annoying.
    2. Blind Cat Rescue is a favorite charity of mine.
    3. I often have to explain my voice tone to others . Meaning it sounds somewhat stern, but I am not in the least. It is just my voice one eventually gets used to.
    4. There is a lot of things to get through in my life these days.

    1. Thank you for these great answers. I find those cars annoying too. And I picture your voice as very sweet. XO

    1. Thank you. I kept Sammy’s name, but Joanie’s was Megan so I changed it and named her after my mom. 🙂 XO

  7. Our Callie came from the Humane Society. She was sent back by her first adoptive parents because they couldn’t handle her. She’s a little high strung but a very sweet cat. Your poem is cute and reminds me of my hubbies stories. When he was a child he hated broccoli and fed it to the dog and got caught by his mom. He still won’t eat broccoli but I love it.

  8. You are so kind. I adopted Mollie who was a mom cat with one kitten in her cage with her. I went home after filling out the paperwork, then immediately called back to say I’d take the kitten too. It was already adopted. My heart would have broke to take the mama and see the kitty (who was already about 3 or 4 months old) stay in the cage. Fortunately when I came to pick up Mollie, the family had already picked up the young one. This was back in the day when they adopted out non-neutered pets. I had to sign papers promising I would spay Mollie (and I did). Today all pets are neutered before they adopt out.

    1. I am glad they are all spayed/neutered prior to adoption now. Mollie is blessed as all your kitties are.

  9. Charlee: “The same thing happened to me! Our Mama saw Chaplin in a big cage at the shelter and he went right up to her meowing and she sent a picture of him to our Dada and Dada was like, ‘Yes, he’s very cute, but I want the kitten in the background with the beard and the mustache’. And here we both are!”

  10. Oh what a delightful adoption story ~ you are so loving and giving ~ sweet kitties ~ Xo

Wishing you good health, laughter and love in your days,

  11. Such a sweet Remember Me Thursday story. Of course you weren’t going to leave Joanie behind… no way was she going to be left there if it was up to you! I love that she purrs you to sleep every night♥
That’s a great poem! Why is it that I think it is possible that little Ellen would have stuffed the offending vegetable in her shoe?!
    Hugs!

    1. Thank you. Funny story- when I was in 1st grade, we had to try coconut to get a piece of cake and I remember stuffing it in my shoe and the hard shell hurting my foot. 🙂 XO

  13. That is just the sweetest adoption story and it was totally meant to be. Thanks for joining our Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!

  14. You truly are a light in this world. ~hugs~ Separating siblings always makes me sad, though it’s better than declawing. ~shudder~ Blessings, my dear.

  15. I’m so glad you have Joanie.

    Your poem is funny.

None of my kids ever tried to put broccoli (or any other food I know of) in a shoe, I gave them broccoli and other strong-tasting veggies as soon as they started eating and they have continued eating them all their lives.

    1. I will admit that Joanie is truly my most favorite of all the names of the babies. It always has been. n As such, I tend to favor her. (don’t tell the others) (well, Penny too).

      1. Awww..thank you. It is my favorite name. My mom’s name is Joan, my middle name is and Typhoid Mary’s is too. XO
