#Remember Me Thursday

Hi everyone! I know it is Wordless Wednesday, but last Thursday I missed a most important day. #Remember Me Thursday is a special day to bring attention to cats in shelters waiting for their forever homes. Many cats never leave the shelter.

Our friend Dawn, mom to Lola and Lexy is hosting the hop for #Remember Me Thursday so be sure to visit all the participants.

Joanie and Sammy were only at the shelter for a few months. It breaks my heart that they had another sibling that was adopted separately before I adopted them. They were 4 at the time so I am sure they would have liked to all stay together.

My Angel Snowball and KaTwo also came from a shelter. They were both their for 2 years before being adopted. Someday I hope to rescue another cat that has been in a shelter for years. Every cat ( and dog) deserves a forever home. All my cats have brought me great joy and continue to every day.

  1. All of my cats and dogs have been rescues from the shelter. I volunteered for years until I had Wyatt. I have my three rescue kitties still but my Penny dog passed away a few years ago. 🙁 Marlow was left behind when his owners moved, my Himalayan Miso was rescued from a hoarder house, and Maggie was a street kitten that all ended up with me by way of the shelter.

  2. It makes me sad when kitties spend their lives in a shelter without finding a home. Even no kill shelters aren’t home, and every cat deserves a family.

  3. We totally wish that every kitty and pup had a forever home to enjoy. It’s heartbreaking so many NEVER know the security of their own home but languish in shelters or out in the world on their own never knowing that kind of love. Joanie and Sammy were SO LUCKY that you gave them that!

    Hugs, Teddy

  4. Thank you for adopting those loved kitties. They were so happy with you. I like that you adopted those who had been there a long time. XX

  5. Joanie, Sammy, Angel Snowball, and KaTwo… all fortunate to have found a wonderful home with you and to have been found at a shelter. Lucky the kitty who finds a home with the Meowing Crew and is rescued from a shelter. Their very own forever home with people that will always be theirs and home is truly home! ♥

  6. I’ve always gotten my babies at the shelter. They have all been wonderful and loving family members.

Thank you for joining the Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop.

Have a fabulous Wordless Wednesday. Big hug, Ellen. ♥

  7. What beautiful cats Joanie and Sammy are! Good for you for giving a loving home to shelter cats. I too wish they would all find homes.

  8. Four kitties (2 for each daughter) came from a shelter. Three were from the same litter and one was “adopted into the litter after finding her in a dumpster. Two of the four are still with us and going on 14 1/2 years old. Bless all those people who adopt from shelters and give furver homes.

  9. All of our cats have been rescues, and I too hope one day to walk into a shelter and ask for the longest resident, and take that cat home with me!

  10. Sooooooooo am I writing for Wednesday or Thursday? Well, it’s WW for me so HI GIRLFRIEND, how’s goin? The last two days were like summer and today is kinda cool, but meeeee well I’m ready for the cooler weather…. not winter mind you, but autumn. Autumn is my favorite time of year. The bugs go to sleep and I start taking more walks and longer ones. It’s so beautiful out too with the leaves changing! Well, you have a great day and speaking of walks…. later!!! You’re kitty with the hat is a hoot! Oh and my Charlie came from a shelter too! We gave him his forever home. We’ve never had a male dog and we always had a black labrador.. Charlie is brown… and beautiful! Have a great day! HUGS

  11. It would be so lovely If all shelter pets found homes. It’s heartbreaking to know that many don’t.

Thanks for sharing your rescue pet story 🙂

  12. Our shelter is blessed, every kitty eventually finds a home. We have had some that were cranky and bitey cats that took a long time to find that special someone willing to love them anyway, but every one gets a home unless they are too sick to adopt out. Then they become special office kitties and everyone takes care of them together.

  13. Ellen, they were all lucky to have been able to remain in shelters for such a long time, but they were even more fortunate to be adopted and loved by you. XOCK, angel Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, angel Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo, Cooper Murphy and Sawyer

  14. We love that all of your cats have been rescues. And thank you for remembering all the kitties who are still waiting to find their forever homes.

  15. What a beautiful post for Remember Me Thursday. Your kitties are all so blessed to have you, and I am so glad they get to know the love and happiness of a forever home because of you. It is also a dream of mine to adopt more animals who have been at a shelter for a long time, as well as specially abled furbabies who are less likely to be adopted. As of right now, the only furbaby I’ve ever actually adopted from a shelter or rescue is Eddy. All of my other kitties and my pup were abandoned strays or ferals found by family members or myself. Purrs to you and your kitties, Ellen!

  16. You are not late, you are ahead of the game for next yer and you are wonderful.

    Happy Remember Me Thursday!
