Phoebe and Spooky

Hi everyone! My Mom spoke to soon the other day when she said we were all doing well. Spooky could use some prayers. He lost his appetite Tuesday afternoon so Mom took him to the vet yesterday. He also had diarrhea and nausea. The vet is doing blood work, but we won’t know the results until later today. He got some fluids, but he is still not feeling well.

005

Mom bought me a bulletin board to put all the photos of my purrince on:

004I wanted a pink one- Phoooey! Mom said this was on sale at Michael’s and if I want a different one then I have to pay for it- this one is kind of cute, I like polka dots.

006Isn’t my purrince a handsome boy? I am very lucky that he loves me. I still need to get an album or book to put his poems in.

Make sure you visit us on Saturday for our first Blogoversary- Mom has been crocheting a bunch of stuff to give away. And Grammie is helping her with some of the stuff too. I love my Grammie so very much.

  1. I’m getting the healing purrs ramped up right now for Spooky. We hope he feels better soon and starts eating again. We’ll try to come back this weekend for your party. I really liked the two toys you sent to me and still play with them.

    1. Thank you for the healing purrs. He is eating, but still has diarrhea- hopefully it will clear up. I am glad you still play with your toys you won from us 🙂

    1. Thank you, I will. He is eating a little, but still has diarrhea. I hope the vet gets the results soon. They used to do them right there, but now they send them out.

  2. I sure hope Spooky gets good news from the vet and is feeling better soon.
Your bulletin board is very cute. The pink ties “pop” on that background.

    1. Thank you, I hope to hear about the test results soon. He did start eating a little. Phoebe says thank you, she managed to get a little pink in there.

  3. Hope Spooky feels better soon 🙁 I love your bulletin board. Especially those tiny little clothes pins – very cute!

  4. Oh I quite like the polka dot bulletin board ! Nice to be able to put all of your Prince’s “stuff” in one spot too. We sure do hope that Spooky is alright – we’ll be sending lots of POTP that there’s nothing serious wrong and it’s just a bit of a tummy bug!

    Hugs, Sammy

    1. Spooky is a little better. His blood work wasn’t too bad aside from hyperthyroid ( I already have 2 other boys with that). I will look into pumpkin, but I thought it was for constipation. We are glad to be your friends too.

  8. Pretty Phoebe we are certainly purring for Spooky and hope he feels all better. That first anniversary is always special! WE posted more photos today about the crocheted toys! Thank you again they are a huge hit!

    1. Spooky is a little better- thank you 🙂 I can’t wait to see some photos of you enjoying your toys- I will head over to your blog 🙂

    1. Thank you, he is a little better and was diagnosed with hyperthyroid which is easy to deal with.

            xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

          2. I wonder if the thyroid problem is from something in food? It is odd how many cats have it now. –Phoebe’s turn:
Hi my sweet purrince, I can’t wait for new tissue paper that smells like my sweet purrince. Love and paw kisses XO

  10. Oh Dpooky we ate so very sorry you have felt poorly. I had a tummy issue in Feb and March. Turned out after lots vet trips and MEDS and if fluids got me back to functioning level after a bout w diarrhea. Then it was decided I needed to change my food…it took most of April but we finally figured out grain free was what I needed. I am good now. Whew
    Hugs Madi your bfff

    1. I am sorry you had to go through so much to figure out the problem. I may get some grain free, I am wondering if there is a problem with the food or something going around because I have been cleaning up a lot of vomit- lots more than usual and not just Spooky.

  11. Prayers for sweet Spooky, looks like a handsome fellow.
I love your polka dot card holder thingy. Your prince is a handsome black boy.

    Love and hugs from Belgium

    1. Thank you Billy 🙂 Love and hugs to you too. Phoebe says thank you too.

  12. You know Ellen I DO wonder about that? I have always made sure to have my cat eat high quality kibble because they always want to eat Friskies or Fancy Feast wet food, lol…
I am using Performatrim kibble & for beef & whitefish Siddhartha Henry is getting Performatrim brand also. Not taking any chances 😉 S-E.
    Over to Siddhartha Henry now:
Mee deerest Rainbow Gurl who iss thee lite of mee life mee wil make sure to rub all over thee tisshue papurr befur mee sendss it to you!!!
Mee sendss all mee <3 LUV <3 to you Purrincess <3
***paw kissess*** Siddhartha Henry yur 'littul' Purrince xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

    1. That is smart of you to get good food for the sweet purrince. I do feed the wet food of Friskies to most, but I do a little dry and it was purina pro plan, several of the kitties were vomiting and I blame that. Spooky seems to have a lot going on including a broken tooth that must be hurting.
Phoebe sends her love XO and paw kisses.

      1. Both Doc Dave & Doc Melissa told me NOT to feed Purina ‘anything’! Easy for them to say as they have more $$$ than I do. The other thing is when rescues a cat (whether feral or abandoned pet) one feeds what the animal accepts. Changing a cat’s food is NOT easy. I was lucky to switch from Purina All CAt Care to Performatrim Kitten because of the same shaped kibbles. (I took out the <3 shaped kibble from Purina mix). Once Siddhartha Henry hit 9 months I combined Performatrim Kitten kibble with Adult formula. Thankfully ALL Performatrim kibbles are the SAME shape! That makes transitioning easier. As S H was in a barn situation with 22 other cats he got Fancy Feast…..they all did & the ones there still do. Who can afford $2. for a wee can for one cat let alone a whole group of cats????
I have NO idea why Purina has gone up in price…because of the demand I expect….
I am sorry Spooky has a broken tooth; that must hurt alot!
Please give him a *kiss* from me…..
Here is the Purrince S H for his girl:
Mee-you Beekeeni Phoebe mee just wantss to send mee <3 LUV <3 an admirashun to you mee Purrincess!!!
        ********paw kissess********
        Siddhartha Henry yur littul Purrince
        xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

        1. I wonder why Purina has such a bad rep. I was getting the better kind at the pet store, not the grocery store. I think Spooky will go back to the vet Tuesday ( tomorrow is a holiday). For now, I will force feed him some baby food. I am glad sweet purrince was able to make the change to better food. Phoebe sends her love and kisses. She even had an upset tummy for a couple days before I changed foods. XO

  13. Purring that the thyroid meds will help a lot to make Spooky feel lots netter…soon!

Minko is going to the (new)vet on Wed, the earliest this one could see him. He knows a lot, he even has a radio show:)

    1. I hope the new vet can figure out why Minko doesn’t want to eat. Please keep me posted. Thank you for the purrs for Spooky.

  14. Unfortunately the quality of Purina has declined over the years! There are by-products & fillers that were not there 20 yrs ago. That helped open up the market for ‘better’ quality foods for pets.
I used to swear by Purina 25-35 yrs ago.
Now I prefer Science Diet; Performatrim & Royal Canin. There is also Weruva but that stuff is so expensive!
Alot of these fancy brands are not compatible for multi-cat households tho’.
I am sorry Spooky has to be force fed! That must not be easy. I wish i were there to help you!
Please let Phoebe know her ‘Purrince’ is doing well. He just had his supper & is reclining in his Condo cleaning & primping himself!! He is such a character!
    ((hugs)) Sherri-Ellen

    1. I buy Royal Canin prescription from the vet for 2 of the kitties with allergies and I do get Hills Hairball, I should get another kind of Hills too. I never heard of Weruva Spooky seems to like the baby food so that makes it easier. I hope they can put him under to deal with his teeth. Phoebe sends her love to her sweet purrince. I bet he looks adorable XO.

  15. It is not easy is it Ellen with multiple cats to feed?? Mind you one finicky cat feels like 15, hahahaha!!!
Her eis the link to Weruva cat food.
    http://www.weruva.com/
I do not think they have kibble just canned. Nylablue took one sniff an walked away stiff legged, lol. I tasted it & it was delicious…like people food but with no saltiness. In the end one of my Ferals ate it….
It was a royal bust for us. Siddhartha Henry likes Pate & was first fed Fancy Feast…..so that is why he eats it. Getting the Performatrim Pate helps with variety & gives him a bit more proper nutrition than Fancy Feast alone….
We are such GREAT cat slaves I mean parents……lol…
    ((hugs)) Sherri-Ellen

    1. Thank you for the link to the cat food, I will check it out. I agree we are wonderful kitty slaves 🙂 XO Ellen

      1. Kitty attendants…..not slaves…right?? 😉
Ok we are slaves…I admit it….
There are ALOT of new companies catering to cat owners with meat & vegggies. I have only had 1 cat who liked peas. None of my other cats liked ANY veggies. After all cats are carnivores.
Having only one cat I can afford to experiment; I am sure it is not so feasible for you with 15 mouths looking for food…
That is another reason I wonder about all these companies offering such fancy cat food…most ‘regular’ folk can not afford it!!!
If you DO try Weruva on some of your kitties plz let me know if they like it!
        {{{hugs}}} Sherri-Ellen

        1. Kitty attendants does sound better 🙂 I have been seeing a lot of food with veggies too and it didn’t make sense. It is hard to get a good quality at a reasonable price that they will eat regularly and not get sick of. I will let you know about Weruva- thanks for the info. XO

  16. 😉 I think ‘kitty attendant’ has a ring to it Ellen, hahaha….
We KNOW we are slvaes but we do not have to admit that to the Felines!!!
There are so many brands popping up with veggies for cats & the spin on it that cats need greens or pumpkin or peas is so odd!
I ‘get it’ with dogs as they are Omnivores….
It is amazing how many people are on the ‘cats needs veggies’ bandwagon. I figure if a cat likes peas or something great but if not that is fine…it is the meat or fish we need to focus on.
Have you ever fed any of our cats ‘duck’? i tried actual duck years ago for Mingflower….I boiled & then roasted it…it was delicious…..I had duck for a week!!! Mingflower snubbed it…gave a piece a lick & walked away….
Once of my fond memories of her…
    ((hugs)) Sherri-Ellen

    1. I never knew about Mingflower, I had only recently started following when Nylablue when she got so sick. I am sure they were both sweeties.
I never cooked duck, but I bought duck in canned food and the kitties that ate it got diarrhea, it could be because I didn’t change gradually.

      1. Mingflower was an amazing kitty girl Ellen! Despite head trauma & limited eyesight she was intelligent & fun loving. She was healthy til Dec. 2004 when she got very ill. That is when Kidney Disease started. I started blogging Aug. 2005 about her (on Yahoo 360). She lived until Mar. 23rd, 2006. She went into Renal Failure & I made the decision to let her go with Dr Dave’s help. I KNOW I did the right thing!
Nylablue came to me 3 ths later with so many helath issues but she fought to live & thrive…
I was already blogging as her on Multiply site & then came over to WP Aug. 2012. Nylablue got the Bowel Disease not too long after that….
I am so glad we have met & become friends.
And Siddhartha Henry is VERY happy!!! He found his ‘true love’……
        ((hugs)) Sherri-Ellen
P.S.: I think duck is greasey no matter how one cooks it! I never met a cat who actually eats duck cat food 😉

        1. I am glad we have become friends too. I do wish I had known all about kitty blogs sooner, I really missed out on a lot, but I am glad I do it now. DO you know how Mingflower got her head trauma? Kidney disease is awful , some kitties can get fluids and go on for some time. KaChoo was diagnosed with it and only lived a few months, but I think something else was going on that they never figured out. Sadly, she died at Tufts. She had been improving and they wanted to keep her one more night so I had visited her that day ( every day she was there). I called and checked that night and was told she was the same then I get a call 2 hours later saying she had a heart attack and they couldn’t save her.

  17. I am so sorry about KaChoo; that must have been heart wrenching! I am sure there was something else going on besides the Kidney Disease….Mingflower lived for a 2 years with Kidney Disease. She fought tooth & claw to live..she was a 7 lb warrior! LOL….I could not make her suffer tho’ when the Renal Failure hit….she fought going tho’. Bit my right thumb…blood everywhere. I had to take Antibiotics. Talk about a ‘lasting’ memory!
When I first started blogging it was not a ‘cat’ blog per se; I jsut started writing about Mingflower’s life & her fight with Kidney Disease. I had a friend who blogged as her rabbit & I thought I would try it once I adopted Nylablue. I really enjoyed it & it brought us closer together. Now with Siddhartha Henry it is also building a bridge….as I look thru’ his eyes…..
As for Mingflower’s head trauma: she was the result of Inbreeding in a puppy/kitten mill. She had Arresting Nystagmus (bouncing eyeballs) & that did not help her. When she was with my foster Cousin he would drop kick her off his cowboy boots. When the other foster Cousin told me about this I went & took Mingflower. She had brain trauma & the only way to describe her was Autistic…she bonded to me 150% & I had to teach her everything from eating to litter to playing toys. She was so fragile as a kitten however she grew into a beautiful cat & she was my soul cat!!

    1. That is so awful- I think the person that did that to her should have gone to jail. I know what you mean about soul cats, KaChoo was mine. I had her as a kitten in 1994- 2010.
