Penny’s Tips Volume 83

Hi everyone! It is almost Halloween. Time to carve a jack-o’-lantern. I apologize for posing with this fake one, but dad didn’t grow pumpkins this year and my folks are too cheap to buy me a pumpkin. Actually, if you are going to put all that time into carving, I suggest a fake pumpkin that will last for years.

I found some free template patterns so you can carve your own pumpkin into a cat.

Better Homes and Gardens has links to 14 different cat breed patterns-click here.

For something more simple, try a cat silhouette pattern-click here.

This is Mom’s Grumpy Cat one.  No, she didn’t make it, she is not that skilled. If you want to make your own though, there is a free template- click here.

If Hello Kitty is more your speed, click here.

Hope you all have a safe and happy Halloween!

See you next week with ideas for Thanksgiving.

I do have a question for you. When I started writing my tips, I wrote about things to do with pennies then I added in how to save money.  And now I have been writing about crafts.  I would like to know what my readers want more of so please tell me.

We are joining  Comedy Plus’ Happy Tuesday Blog Hop.

  1. Holiday/seasonal themed craft ideas and crochet patterns are always welcome here…so that when *she* has time…sigh…

Those are great pumpkin ideas, Penny!
Imagine having a Grumpy Cat on your porch….would the goblins run away?? (Afterall, she is an Angel now…)

    MOL!

  2. We don’t expect trick or treaters this year. Haven’t had any for years. But TBT does have some Lindor Truffles in case any come by. And he will be wearing his Wizard costume “in case”. With a mask of course.

    1. Those are the best. We would go to your door if we lived near you. Cool that TBT dresses up. XO

  3. I love that Grumpy Cat design!
Whatever sort of tips or crafts you want to do is good, Penny.

  4. Halloween decorating is always fun……no trick or treat this year so less outside decorating but we have inside fixed up……the fake pumpkin we usually have on the porch is inside brightening things up!

    Hugs, Teddy

  5. I like all of the tips … and changing up is good I think you should shre whatever tips you have!

  6. We don’t have a real pumpkin either, Penny, as much as I adore toasted pumpkin seeds to snack on!
I’m not a crafty person, but post whatever you’d like to; we enjoy them!

  7. Your tips are always so wise, Penny. And fun too.

Thank you for joining the Happy Tuesday Blog Hop.

Have a fabulous Happy Tuesday. Scritches to all the kitties and a hug to the mom. ♥

  8. Dad has not let us carve a pumpkin in years. Ah well we enjoy the fun patterns. Penny we like your crafts a lot and your money saving ideas too. Maybe a 50/50 split would be right

  9. Cute! Every year here, a local insurance agent gives away pumpkins one Saturday in October and we missed out, I’m sure. Oops. We especially like roasting the seeds!

  10. I always enjoy your crafty side and it is nice to have penny pincers to help us save for more crafts
    Hugs Ceiclia

  11. We love the silhouette pumpkins, but Mom says she was never very good at carving traditional pumpkin faces, never mind all that fancy stuff. She prefers the fake ones too:)

We always enjoy your tips, penny ones or craft ones. It is always fun seeing a new idea.

  12. Love the Grumpy cat pumpkin. The other pumpkins are great too. Just think, if you have a fake pumpkin then after Halloween then you can turn it around so you have the orange part for rest of Harvest time.

  13. I’ve never carved a fake pumpkin but I hear they are easier to carve than the real ones (and much less messy). Whatever tips you care to share are great. Even random tips can be fun.

  14. I like you’re pumpkin, Penny. Mom bought a small one like that for our house this year. She also plans to carve a pumpkin, as she does every year at All Hallows Eve. She’s not speedy at carving, but the pumpkins usually turn out pretty good. A few years ago she used that Grumpy Cat face template, ’cause we’re big fans.

  16. WOW, no reply needed —you have so many comments! But mama made a soup out of our pumpkin, haha, so I never got to carve it. Someone gave us a butternut squash, too big to eat, past it’s prime, so mama and I may carve IT! Love from us.

  17. We think all tips are good, but out mom is partial to crafting tips, especially as your mom is a talented crafter. Mom did get a couple of pumpkins and gourds for the front porch, but we don’t think she is planning on doing any carving! 18. Perfect tips and no pumpkin carving here either- I’ll buy a pumpkin and make some pies instead! Cheers!

  19. Yoor tips came just in time Momma bought a pumpkin yesterday. I’m ready to model, but my fursibs all think they should be the face on the pumpkin. Sore loozerz.
