Hi everyone! Did you miss me? My mean mom keeps pushing me off for silly things like reviews and Halloween.

My tip today is to use a penny to replace a missing checker. My folks have this apple checker board and the apples are fun to roll around so they do need to use this tip sometimes. I thinks they should give me all the apples to play with and they can use pennies.

  4. Those apples DO look like fun to bat around. TBT asks: Have you considered adhesive magnetic strips under the board and spray-painted red and black streel washers that would be held lightly in place?

    1. That is a good idea, but I am too lazy to do that. I usually keep it safe in the dining room so the cats can’t get it 🙂

  5. I’m amazed that you have any apples left! They look just the right size to bat around or carry away. If we had the set, all the apples would be under a couch somewhere or in the back yard with teethmarks in them! Good job hanging on to those, and for the tip to use a penny while one is missing!

  11. Hmmm, you couldn’t have nothing but pennies, you’d get mixed up with whose pieces were whose. If you lost all the pieces, i guess you could use pennies for one side and nickels for the other, tails up until you need to be “kinged” and then you could flip it heads side up.

    Using a penny to sub for a piece is a great tip!

  21. We think that apple checker board is pretty cool! Perhaps your mom should get you a catnip apple instead. That’s much more fun.

  24. Penny, I haven’t played a game of checkers in, like, a bazillion years! I play lots of solitaire (on my phone), crosswords (in the newspaper), and sudoku (I almost never solve them!). Oh, and jigsaw puzzles…online, of course!

  28. Penny! You have come up with the perfect solution. Hide…err I mean put away the apples and slide a few pennies over as a hint. I think they may be able to take the hint and forget about the apples.

Those apples reminded petcretary of some little ‘tops’ she had and wow, they would spin…and if yours could spin, they would go on the floor where they are prey for whomevfur can catch them…and then your wish for more pennies as checkers would work! MOL! Penny, you are brilliant like a shiny new penny!!
