Hi everyone! I have some Easter tips for you this week. As you already know, that plastic grass to fill Easter baskets is dangerous to kitties. If you are making a basket for your kitties, tissue paper is a great filler- and lots of fun to play with. I have an even better idea though. How about planting some cat grass to line kitty’s Easter basket. If you plant it within the next few days it will be ready in time for Easter.
Mom started this one a bit early. You can buy grass seed labeled oat grass or cat grass and plant it in potting soil inside a shallow container. My Dad bought a plastic container at the pet store that had everything needed except water and it fit perfectly inside our Easter basket. You can do this for kids’ baskets too, but they probably won’t be as appreciative.
And if you are looking for a cheap inexpensive gift for your cat, Target has fabric carrots for only $1. They are decorative, but mom marinated ours in some catnip and now it is a cat toy.
Well, that’s all folks.

Great idea! I just wish my cats showed more interest in the catnip growing in our backyard. Even when it is dried, they just don’t care.:( Maybe grass is the way to go….
Yes, try the grass. Or maybe some silvervine.
I think the toys they love are the silvervine. What we have in our backyard is quite prolific and is now in the yards of the houses around us. Too bad it isn’t what the cats prefer. I’ll look into the grass. I know just which window to put it in!
We have a lot in our yard too and luckily most of my cats love it. 🙂
Thanks for the great tips Penny! 🙂 <3
You’re welcome. 🙂 XO
Cool tips, Penny! Cat grass and carrots treated with catnip are real treats! XO
Thank you. 🙂 XO
We love the Easter basket idea. Mom has some cat grass in the cupboard. And what a good idea to create a cat toy at a supper low price. Thanks for your tips, Penny. I love the idea of cat grass in the easter basket, Penny!
Thank you. 🙂
If we still had kitty furblings, we think *she* would make a basket just like that! Its way cool!!
Maybe you could open one of the seams in that carrot a wee bit and add some catnip to the stuffing??
That is a great idea- thank you. XO
The real grass in the Easter basket is a much better idea. The carrot looks like good fun too.
Thank you. 🙂 XO
Brilliant ideas! I love the marinated carrot idea and kitty grass in a basket – ALSO brilliant!
Hugs, Pam
Thank you. 🙂 XO
I bought one of those oat grass kits and managed to kill the cat grass. Oops. Poor Bear.
My mom does that too. 🙂 XO
Love all the ideas here and marinating stuffs are our thing around here.
Thank you. 🙂 XO

Great Easter tips Penny. I love that idea. You deserve a good long catnap after all that.
Thank you. 🙂 Good idea, I shall nap. XO
I knew about the Easter basket filled being dangerous to kitties. Glad to mentioned it again.
I always love Penny’s tips. I learn so much and most important how to do thing frugally.
Thank you for joining the Happy Tuesday Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Happy Tuesday, Ellen. Scritches to all the kitties. ♥
Thank you. 🙂 XO
As always, excellent tips. I especially like the $1 carrots from Target. I’ll have to check those out.
Thank you. 🙂 XO
Mom doesn’t like that grass either – it gets everywhere and then snags around the vacuum roller. Tissue paper – great idea!!! Enjoy those marinated carrots:)

Thank you. 🙂
TBT sometimes collects NIP leafs and crushes them a bit before enclosing a few toys in a tupperware. After a week THOSE are really GREAT!
That is a good idea. XO
Such creative ideas!
Thank you. 🙂
What a great way to have grass without the dangers of plastic stuff. Thanks for the great tip!
You’re welcome. 🙂
Those are both great tips!
Thank you. 🙂
Terrific idea Penny. We need a new pot of cat grass! And Mom puts loads of our toys in catnip to marinade it! They are so much fun when they come out! We will get Mom on the grass tonight! Have a marvellously happy day!
Thank you. 🙂 XO
I used to plant cat grass for the kitties – one ignored it completely (Sam would eat any other plants though!), and the other (Conrad) couldn’t keep it down!
Mosy of my cats are not interested in it, but Penny likes it. 🙂 XO
