Monday

Happy Monday Everyone! Today us fun and games day and I have a fun thing for those of you that buy Friskies canned food. I am sure that a lot of you buy higher quality and I wish I could, but with 15 cats, it isn’t affordable. I do think canned food is important for the moisture content as many cats don’t drink enough water.

We buy cans by the case, but when I am too lazy or in a hurry to get to the pet store, I just grab a box of cans at Walmart or the grocery store. The box of 24 has a cute little toy on the back that can be cut out. I had my hubby cut it out so it would be in one piece: 017Then you just fold it and tape it too so it won’t fall apart. There are 2 holes to add treats so I added a few and Joanie was like a pig rooting for truffles:019

Don’t forget to comment today or tomorrow for one last chance at those catnip turkey legs. I truly wish I could send one to every kitty that comments.

And a very special thank you to Nellie of http://catfromhell.wordpress.com/. She surprised us with a special Christmas graphic- I think I am going to get some cards made like this: nelliechristmasTHANK YOU!

  1. We feed Friskies too. Sophie and Sassy eat Wellness – Sophie has to have grain-free because of food allergies, and Sassy needs a high quality diet because of her FIV – but Delilah, Sampson, and Caster eat Friskies because I can’t afford Wellness for everyone. Maybe one day! I’ll have to look for that toy on the cases!
    Love the Christmas graphic!

    1. We have to feed 2 of our kitties prescription food so I understand. I am glad someone else buys Friskies too.

    1. Good luck, I will announce the winner on Wednesday. I am sure your grandcats would love them.

  2. Enjoy the fun treat toy, sweeties!…Pretty Christmas graphic…Happy week ahead, dear friends…xoxo…Calle, Halle, Sukki, Mommy Cat, Daddy Cat

  3. We love the new graphic and I, Madi, love stinky canned goodness too. I’m eating Purina NF now because one of my kidney enzymes was slightly elevated at my July Physical. Mom could have waited for 6 months for another blood panel before starting it but she wanted to nip it in the bud. It is really very tasty too…but then I’ve never met a can of food I didn’t like
    Hugs madi your bfff

    1. I don’t blame your mom for wanting you on special food, kidney disease is a bad thing and she wants you to be healthy.

  4. Raven eats Wellness canned but she also enjoys her dry food. With Squatty the Stray eating the same canned food, at least I can save a little bit by buying the 12 ounce cans instead of the smaller 5.5 ounce cans.
There’s a very long article by Lisa A. Pierson, DVM http://www.catinfo.org/?link=cannedfoods about feeding canned cat food. If you browse through it (it’s really long and detailed) you’ll find this:

“… I can’t help but wonder if Friskies, 9-Lives, etc. (all by-products, no muscle meat) may actually be better diets because many of these by-product foods are higher in protein and lower in fat than the more expensive diets that are free of by-products.”

So I wouldn’t be concerned about feeding Friskies, especially if your cats are doing well on it. And the kitties get a free toy!

Cute graphic. I wonder how many of us counted all 15 cats!

    1. Thank you, that made me feel better. I always feel guilty that I can’t buy the pricier food because of how many cats I have. I will read the article later today after I visit everyone’s blogs. Thank you!

  5. Wait, what? There’s a toy on the back of Friskies boxes? We’ll have to look for that!

That Nellie sure is sweet, isn’t she? That Christmas graphic is wonderful!

  6. That is a lovely graphic. Nellie and her mum are very talented. I only eat Gourmet Solitaire. Mum says I am very picky. I say I have discerning taste.

    1. I have never heard of that kind. It is OK to be picky when you are as handsome as you are Flynn.

  7. Those cardboard toys are great. We got some on a different food once and they were a hit here, too.

Love the Christmas graphic! All of you are represented!

  8. We had one of those Friskie treat toys too. We haven’t seen it in awhile…wonder where it went…

We love the graphic Nellie sent you. She does good work. 🙂

    1. Maybe you knocked it under some furniture, that is what my kitties do. Nellie is a great artist.
