#JHC Halloween Challenge

Hi everyone! Today we are joining a new challenge for October- JNW’s Halloween Challenge. I love Halloween, I started decorating yesterday, it usually takes several days.

Today’s word is pumpkin.

NOEL This photo is a few years old, but I think Noel looks great with this pumpkin.

imageedit_4_5027970425 For Athena’s Caturday Art Blog Hop, I used Lunapic to edit a recent photo of Noel. I cropped it to an oval shape and used the cartoon effect. I think it makes the checkered chair look like city lights in buildings behind Noel.

Phoebe will be starting a giveaway tomorrow.

  1. Unfortunately Halloween is the least fave of the petcretary’s ‘holidays’…so we will not be pawticipawting in this challenge, though there are a few old piccies of us dressed up for this time of the year…long time ago, she didn’t mind it so much but in the recent past she finds this type of thing with all the gruesomeness quite disturbing and not within her views of life.
No offense intended…we hope you have fun! Maybe we will post our oldies later on through the season. Noel looks good with her pumpkin. And yes that chair does look like a city scape with your art effects on the whole image:)

    1. I hope she shows us the ones of you all dressed up. I like the fun, whimsical stuff, not the scary stuff. I do like eyeballs though, I am always buying the bag of plastic ones at the dollar store- the cats love them and I put some in jars for decorations.

  2. TBT has decided that we are going to carve 2 pumpkins really fancy this year. One will say “Mark’s Mews” and the other will have a cat face.

He is even saving cardboard to make fake gravestones. We ren’t sure what has gotten into him. Maybe it was wearing that costume a few days ago.

    1. Halloween is a lot of fun. I can’t wait to see the carved pumpkins 🙂 Gravestones are fun too, I have used styrofoam for them in the past. I don’t put much outside anymore though because it is always windy this time of year and the stuff blows away.

  3. I agree with you about the edit of the photo. It does look like lights in buildings. How cool and what a beautiful kitty. 🙂

I think that I will give this Halloween challenge a try on PS Annie! I may miss some days, but I am going to give it a try. Thanks for letting me know about it.

    Have a great weekend!

    1. Thank you. I saw your first post for the challenge- good job 🙂 Hope you have a nice weekend too.

  4. Noel looks so good next to the pumpkin!!! And the chair does look like a cityscape!! Noel is the perfect Halloween kitty!!! We’re joining later. Right now I having my post-breakfast nap on mom’s submission!

  5. Our Mom luffs Halloween! Her second fav holiday, she says. But she doesn’t like the gross or scary stuff, just the pretty or cute stuff. She bought this year Mr and Mrs Owlinginton from Pier One, an owl couple dressed up for the ball. That’s the kind of thing she likes. Happy Caturday.

    1. Same here, I love Halloween. Te Owls sound very cute. I don’t do anything gory, but I do like eyeballs 🙂

  6. Noel looks like he is wondering why the pumpkin is taking up all the room in the chair. The art is a good effect.

  7. HAPPY OCTOBER! We love Halloween here too…….I guess my Mom will be getting all her stuff out for decorating soon. I think you’re right about the photo effects on Noel’s picture – – – it DOES look like buildings with lights in the windows, etc. behind him! COOLIO!

    Hugs, Sammy

    1. Thank you, I was pleased with the photo effect because I love the city 🙂
I can’t wait to see your decorations and your pumpkin you carve every year. XO

  8. What a purrfect way to start off October, with a beautiful black cat like Noel. We’re participating in JNW’s Halloween Challenge as well. We learned about it here on your fantastic blog, and we were so happy to find out about it. And we, too, are decorating for Halloween this weekend! We are beyond excited. Purrs, and happy October!

    1. Thank you, I am glad you are doing the challenge- you are really making it a challenge to do a drawing a day. I love your drawings and Halloween so I can’t wait to see all of them. Happy decorating!

  9. M has never gone in for much of the holiday decorating stuff and never for pumpkin day!!! But she enjoys looking at everyone else’s decoration. We love your piece of art work – it does look like city lights! Good job.

    1. Thank you 🙂 It is fun to see what everyone comes up with for decorating.

  10. It does look like city lights–that’s what I thought it was until I actually read the post. Really neat effect, and I love the muted colors!

  11. Good luck with the challenge, Mom Ellen. Our Mom checked it out, and she thinks it really would be a challenge for her. We look forward to seeing your entries. Noel’s art came out very well, and Mom agrees that it does appear as a cityscape. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo

    1. Thank you 🙂 There are a few days that will be more of a challenge, but I will figure it out -I love Halloween! XO

  12. We’ve already gotten started on our Halloween decorating with a button pumpkin card which was sent to us by a very special lady. You might know her.

  15. Halloween, in its fun, let’s give out candy and be silly form, is big here. Noel and the pumpkin could be the poster for the season!

  16. Oh wow, Halloween is our favouritist holiday too, but here in the U.K. it’s not as big as in the US sadly, but we will have a pumpkin all of our furry own! MOL

    Can’t wait to see more…

    Spooky purrs

    1. Thank you 🙂 She is a pretty girl. She is very sweet to me, but she growls and hisses a lot at the other cats.

    1. Probably on a different editing site, but I use idiot proof ones. That would have been a great idea.

    1. Noel thanks you sweet boy, she is a girl though- MOL! We didn’t name her, I adopted her when I was tutoring in 2006, a girl in high school had a baby so they got rid of poor Noel.Sure she scratched the baby, but I am sure they could have worked things out. XO

  17. We’re going to check out that challenge….Mom loves Halloween. She wants to decorate but we’re kind of watching Hurricane Matthew right now. That’s pretty scary to us!!

  18. What a fun challenge! Too bad TW doesn’t feel up to it. Pop decorated for Halloween today. We just have to put the Halloween tablecloth and decorate outside the door.

The Rump and The Hill did not get even ONE vote (Kong did though! and mes was expecting somebody to give Phoebe a vote, but that’s not happened yet)
