It’s Monday! What Are YOU Reading?

Hi everyone! It’s Monday! What Are YOU Reading? I am entering both reading hops today, the regular one and the one for kiddy lit. 100_9720  For Teacher Mentor Texts and Unleashing Readers Hop we have a book we won from Three Chatty Cats. Love Me Gently by Lisa Wienebrink and Illustrated by Eleanor Harbinson is an adorable book that teaches kids to be gentle with pets. I am giving it to “The Great One” because she has a dog and 2 cats. One page explains how the puppy could get sick if he eats people food, the funny part is she has already discovered her dog will eat anything she pushes off from the high chair.

KaTwo is showing you 2 of the books I just finished. This is our photo for Book Date’s Hop and Comedy Plus’ Awww….Mondays hop too.

I can’t even put into words how amazing Please Enjoy Your Happiness by Paul Brinkley- Rogers was.  In his memoir, he tells of a friendship he had with an older ( he was 19, she was 31) Japanese woman . He was a U.S. sailor serving in Japan in 1959 when this happened. Through their mutual interests of reading and music they became friends and were in love, but never consummated their relationship. The memoir included letters she had written to him as well as poetry. After all this time, he still remembers their time together vividly and even attempts to find her.

And today’s word for the #JHC is treats:

dscf2668 This is Phoebe’s idea of treats 🙂 Don’t forget to comment on yesterday’s post to be entered in the eyeball giveaway- Phoebe will announce the winner on Wednesday. 100_9687

  1. I’m reading about small and local railways in England. Not exciting but enjoyable. Most of what I read tends not to be found on best-seller lists…

  2. What amazing books you always find. Love Me Gently sounds so sweetly educational, and it’s wonderful that “The Great One” will have this to read as she grows up. Phoebe, we think you idea of treats is simply purrfect! And we still think those eyeballs are pretty darn cool! Purrs!

    1. It is a cute book, the Great One is too young to understand it, but I will read it to her. We do always tell her to be nice to the kitties and dog. 🙂

  3. MOL! Petcretary is tired…she took a look at your eye-mat and thought how it looked like polkadots on top of bigger polkadots, MOL!!

Those books look to be good reads and the kids book is adorable judging by its cover:)

  4. We love captions like ‘Love me Gently’ and ‘Please enoy your happiness’ and CEot Furred Kind…they all sound like a must have for us, Phoebe. We like the eye-balls too…MOL 😀 Pawkisses for a Happy Day 🙂 <3

Ps Phoebe can you tell your mom that her avatar links us always to Katzenworld, instead of here…very strange, don't you think 😀

  5. Phoebe has good taste in treats 😉
I’m going to have to check out Enjoy Your Happiness for me, and Love Me Gently for my niece who is begging for a kitty of her own 🙂

  6. A book to help children learn to be gentle with pets — we need to give that one to every family that adopts from the shelter!

  7. We always like your book recommendations. Our Mommy just ordered Lawyer for the Cat from another review and she is going to order Please Enjoy Your Happiness. She goes through 2 to 3 books a week. Always looking for new reads.

  8. You find so many cat books we’re not aware of! Way to hoard the treats Phoebe! Ha ha! I am reading an older book, The Thorn Birds. I’m enjoying it so far.

  9. There’s a lot of Awww in this post. Lots of good books too. I’m currently reading Home by Harlan Coben.

Have a purrfect Awww Monday. ☺

    1. Thank you for reading our blog 🙂 Mom has that on order at the library- trainable cat- MOL 🙂

  10. Eyeballs?!? Well, that eyeball mat would look great under Chucky’s big black-furred body, so I’m in! I’m reading two different books and listening to another in my car…am I weird?

    1. Chuck would look good on that mat. I read 5 books at a time so we are both weird 🙂

  13. Phoebe, we have one of those treat containers too! It doesn’t last as long as I thought it would. 🙂 I like the title “Please Enjoy Your Happiness,” and the book sounds good too. I’m reading “In a Dark, Dark Wood,” by Ruth ware, a scary mystery. My kitties are reading it with me so I don’t get too frightened.

    1. A scary mystery is especially good this time of year. Our treats don’t last long either 🙂

  14. Awesome books! Our Mom is finishing up her icky Carver books before November 1st when she works on her own novel for National Novel Writing Month. She does this every year and though you might think we then have to fight for her attention, she writes on her old laptop that doubles as the greatest warming bed ever!

  15. Glad you enjoyed da books. Our idea of treats is freeze dried chicky breasts. MOL Big hugs fur all of ya’. Have a pawsum day.

    Luv ya’

  16. I’m currently reading a couple books: The Terran Debacle, which should be available by 12-1-16 (actually, I’m helping proof read it). It’s a story about what happened when Thryon, my favorite-ever sentient alien plant, was at Area 51 in the 70s. LOVE this book!.
I’m also reading Going Underground because I was asked to give an honest review about this dark futuristic novel…

  17. Well you’re always reading interesting books – these both sound super, especially the memoir. Those are two BIG jars of treats Phoebe is guarding – does she share??????

    Hugs, Sammy
