How Do You Like Them Apples?

Hi everyone! We are joining Athena’s Caturday Art Blog Hop and Ten Things of Thankful too.

My art this week is my finished book apples.

I ended up making 17, most are going to be centerpieces at the senior center’s birthday party then they will be given away. I ended up giving them all a worm 🙂

I also started playing with buttons again. Can you tell what this is? It is a gift for my friend’s daughter. I have so many buttons and I am out of ideas. I have made cats, pumpkins, ghosts, skulls, a TARDIS, a shark,  and an elephant. Any ideas of something else I can make?

Here are my Ten Things of Thankful:

  1. Phoebe eating well all week ( knock on wood, 3 times)
  2. Coffee with a friend on Labor Day
  3. voice activated remote control with the cable
  4. new improved cable boxes ( for same price)
  5. time to do some art projects
  6. my great-niece, not even 2, enjoys looking at the IKEA catalog
  7. my niece and her husband celebrated their 4 yr. wedding anniversary
  8. Phoebe getting a surprise package in the mail
  9. winning a cat coloring book from Sweet Purrfections
  10. winning a necklace from Cat Chat with Caren and Cody, it will be made using ashes of my 5 angel kitties.

We are praying for all of you that live in the path of Irma. Be safe.

  1. Wow, lovely pile of apples you made! Bigger than in a bushel:)

It was nice to put a friendly worm in all of them, I think the seniors would love that.

    Your thankful list is pawsome!

    Is that a button Guitar??

Maybe you could try a Christmas tree, some colorful odd buttons would make super decorations, and maybe some other animals, a giraffe would be fun. Or initials of all your friends or relatives you want to give a gift to. Some of our residents at my work did their initials , in a button script and them added glitter, and some other embellishments and framed them They look great!

    1. Thank you, glad you like the apples. And yes, it is a guitar. Those are all great ideas. When my great-niece was born, she got a big R for her room by my niece’s friend that makes button art ( she is where I got my inspiration from). XO

  2. You are such a warm & wonderful person. Great list of thankful things. It makes me reflect on my own. So, thank you!

I love the apples. What a sweet thing to do. I am sure they will be appreciated! Book ideas for the future…How about a nut, like an acorn? With Halloween coming up, there are ghosts or spiders. For Winter, how about a snowman head? You are so creative, I know you will make something great!

I love the guitar! Button ideas…sports themes, like football. Or, Autumn/Halloween things, like scarecrows, witches, etc. How about awards for the Emmys and Oscars? I look forward to your crafts. You are creative! HUGS!

    1. Thank you for all these great ideas. A scarecrow would be fun, I collect scarecrows. And I will try a snowman on the books 🙂 XO

  3. Wow, Ellen, you always have great ideas! We also saw an electric guitar on the picture.

Hm. I’m not so into decoration, so I’d try to use the bottoms for something useful. Like some sort of curtain (for exampel to divide a room in small apartments where the bed is in the living room).

    1. Thank you 🙂 That is a good idea for the buttons, but I don’t have quite that many, that would take a lot 🙂 The cats would love that though- a giant cat toy.

  4. Those apple centerpieces are FABULOUS – what a wonderful giveaway for the senior center to use! Love the worms…….you are SO CLEVER! So you have extra buttons huh? How about flowers/plants? I like your ten thankfuls too – especially that Phoebe is eating well.

    Happy weekend!
    Love, Pam

    1. Thank you, I am thrilled about Phoebe. And thanks for the ideas, I might do a sunflower next-or a field of them 🙂 XO and love to you and Teddy.

  5. I just love the arts and crafts you create! The apples are so fun and festive. And your button guitar is perfect! I was happy to see that you have started creating button art again, as I really enjoyed seeing all of your past ones. There are so many options for what you could create! You could do more autumn ones, like leaves, acorns, maybe even a pumpkin pie? And you could make other animals, like a rabbit, a bear, or any little critters you like. You are so talented, no matter what you create it will look lovely.

And, as always, I just love your Ten Things of Thankful! I am starting a journal with things for which I am thankful, which you inspired me to do. Purrs and happy Saturday to all of you!

    1. Those are all great ideas, I want to try them all now 🙂 I love your art too. And I am glad you are writing your thankfuls down.

  6. We love the look of the “Book Apples” It’s a really cool idea and way to repurpose used books. Your button picture looks like an electric guitar.

    1. Great list of thankfuls. I am glad you like the apple and mat 🙂 I will check out your guest post.

  8. Your button art looks fun to do and fun to display.

The thankful list makes me smile, especially a two-year-old looking at an IKEA catalog.

  9. I absolutely love your apple party favors complete with worms! 🙂 I know there are going to be many smiles because of them and it’s such a sweet thing to do! The guitar made out of buttons is extra-clever too. Maybe you could make a button cornucopia for Thanksgiving!

I am so glad Phoebe is eating well, we worry so much when they don’t. Having coffee with a friend is always a great spirit-lifter!

We recently got new satellite tv boxes and I am amazed at how much improved they are, along with the HD images. Now if they controls were just a bit simpler for old brains to use. Maybe they need to develop senior remotes! 🙂 I like the idea of voice activated cable. I sure love voice texting on my phone too, even if it comes up with some crazy things at times that are nothing like what I said!

Your great-niece sounds like such a delight and you are blessed to have her in your lives. It is nice to hear about couples making their marriages work, we know it isn’t easy, but it’s worth it!

Surprise packages are always fun, and so are coloring books. You had a great winning week. The necklace sounds purrrfect! Have a blessed week ahead! XO

    1. Thank you for responding to each thankful every week, you are so sweet to do that. I am thrilled about Phoebe. A cornucopia is a good idea and would certainly be a challenge 🙂 Have a great week! XO
