Hopping Monday

Hi everyone! We are joining Comedy Plus’ Awww…Mondays, McGuffy’s Reader’s Sparks and Mewsic Moves Me ( hosted by Curious as a Cathy, Xmas Dolly, JAmerican Spice and Stacy Uncorked.) Book Date’s It’s Monday! What Are YOU Reading? And it is day 8 of the  A-Z Blogging Challenge.

For the letter H, I made a hedgehog, but you need to use your imagination because it didn’t come out exactly as I had hoped it would.

My spark is a quote from William Arthur Ward. “Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it. ” Remember to always express gratitude.

I have been reading the memoirs of Reynold Price. I started with A Whole New Life: An Illness and a Healing which was his third memoir. He was a fiction author that survived cancer of his spinal cord that left him a parapalegic. This memoir was about that ordeal, I enjoyed his writing so much that I got his other 3 memoirs out of the library. Ardent Spirits was about his time at Oxford University which was also interesting. Once I get through the other 2, I may look into his fiction. Has anyone ever read his books?

This week for Mewsic Moves Me has Easter songs for a theme.

  1. From The Passion of the Christ Film, Brad Paisley and Sara Evans-New Again.

2. Cat Stevens -Morning Has Broken (1976)-Not an Easter song, but I think it is appropriate.

3. Gene Autry- Here Comes Peter Cottontail

Sorry this was such a long post.

  1. I’m not familiar with Price, but they sound like amazing memoirs. He clearly went through a lot! Love the quote about gratitude as well…

  2. Morning Has Broken…perfect song for the 4M’s them today!

I love your hedgehog but I don’t think your cat is impressed. lol

    1. There is nip in it 🙂 Penny only posed then I took it away because I am having a giveaway at the end of the month with everything. 🙂 XO

  3. Good-morning, Ellen! I like your ‘SPARKS” quote for today. Ward penned the purrfect words to express gratitude. “New Again” sung by Paisley and Evans is just beautiful. It really moved me with the accompanying video from the movie. It’s heartbreaking to think what Christ endured for us. There has never been or is a love like Jesus has for you and me. Thanks for sharing the dance floor with the 4M gang, my friend.

  4. Goodness – I’m not familiar with Price, but that has to be a very inspirational set of memoirs to read. Talk about a challenge….. love your music selections too – “Morning Has Broken” has always been a reminder that we have a new start every day and not to waste it. Love your hedgehog!

    Hugs, Pam (and Teddy too)

    1. Thank you. I think you would like his books, he was from your area. That is a beautiful song. XO

  5. That sure does sound like an interesting book to read. Thanks for that great review. Wonderful spark too. That is so true. You have a great day Ellen and crew.

  6. I think your hedgehog is adorable! It looks like Penny thinks so, too. And what a wonderful Sparks you chose. I love the comparison of unexpressed gratitude being like an unopened gift. Have a beautiful Monday!

  7. Sounds like an amazing man! And I like your hedgehog. ~grin~ I seem to recall that Cat Stephen’s song played every morning over the loud speakers at my Christian summer camp. There was a similar night time ritual, too. I’m thinking they played The Beatles and Simon and Garfunkle but the song titles elude me for the moment. Thanks for triggering those neat memories. Be well!

  8. Love the kitty and love your Spark. It’s very true.

I’ve not ready any books written by this author.

Have a purrfect Awww Monday. My best to your mom. ♥

  9. Hi Ellen, thank you for the quote today – I needed that. Your post today really uplifted my heart. I am going through some things that need prayer. Even though Easter / Passover was weekend before last… I am so glad you posted songs about Easter today. Those songs were just what I needed to get through the day and this week. -Katie.

  10. LOL still looks good to me heheh! the kitty looks very interested that is for sure.

I used to absolutely love Morning Has Broken that will be in my head now for the rest of the day LOL

    Have a tanfastic day 🙂

  11. I’m with Steve – kitty looks very interested in your hedgehog! 😉

GREAT song choices, my friend! Loved every one of them! Thanks for the dance! 🙂

  12. Cute hedgehog! I’m sure it’s appreciated! I’ve not read any of Price’s books. They sound interesting. Love the music you posted. We’ve never been able to watch that movie due to the realism. All I know is how grateful I am for my Lord and Savior and all he suffered for me/us. Words can’t express. I’ve always been a big fan of Cat Stevens’ music! This is one of my favorites! And your Gene Autry’s Peter Cottontail sure brought back some memories. I do believe I actually had that record when I was a kid! HA! A beautiful post! 😀

  13. guyz….we haz never seen a hog in de hedge round heer… sew we think ya did an awesum job with H !!!! N de cat stevenz song total lee ROCKS !!!! 🙂 ♥♥

  14. What a wonderful quote…..you know the art of handwritten ‘thank you’ notes is slipping away. But alas there are those who still remember to be grateful via email,
    or texting.
    Hugs madi and mom

    1. It seems like all handwritten things like letter and thank yous are almost extinct- sadly. XO

  15. Well, we think your hedgehog came out very well. You are very creative with your yarn and hook.

Woos – Lightning, Misty, and Timber

  16. Awww what inspiring and a couple of cute songs too. I cannot thank you enough for playing along with us today! I’m a little off kilter today so I do apologize. I’m sure I’ll be my old silly self next week. hahaha~ Have a rocking week my friend! hugs Oh and your hedge hog is just fine… the only one that counts right now is Kitty and it looks like this cutie pie kitty is very curious… hahaha

  17. That is such a great quote! Something we should all remember to do.

I am not familiar with that author. I’ll have to check out his work.

  18. It would never even occur to me to try to make a hedgehog, i think even if it didn’t turn out as you liked you get an A+ for doing it!

  19. My first time to hear “Here Comes Peter Cottontail” by Gene Autry and I loved it! “Morning Has Broken” is my favorite, I love folk songs like these because they remind me of Baguio City, Philippines. Cat Stevens’ music often played there up to this very day, it’s a classic. Happy 4Ms!

  20. Oh “hedgehog” is a good idea for “H.” And yours has quite the fancy blue pom tail! I don’t have any of those critters in my backyard or in my toy box. I do have squirrelygigs, but that would have to wait for “S.” Tee hee hee.

  21. Looks like the hedgehog is wearing a nice dress, or a boa on the back 😀 I think it’s cute. Cat Stevens’ song is one of Granny favourites…so was he…MOL 😀 Double Pawkiss for the day 🙂 <3

    1. You are such a good detective my little nephew. I have never read Christopher Reeves autobiographies, I will see if the library has them. XO

  23. I don’t know this author but I applaud him for all he went through and still wrote when many people just curl up. Mr. Hedgehog is nice and blue and the pussy cat seems interested so all is good.

  24. I don’t know about Reynold Price but I am always open to new authors/books to read. My reading list has gotten pretty long. Morning Has Broken has always been a favorite of mine. I think of it almost every time I see a sunrise, which is more often now… 🙂 I think the hedgehog is pretty darn cute!

  25. I am very happy that you made a hedgehog. There are not enough of us in the blogosphere. I think you did a very nice job. Horatio Hedgehog
