Friendly Fill-Ins Week 63

Hi everyone! Time for Friendly Fill-Ins. Please add your link at McGuffy’s Reader. You can also answer in the comment section. Thanks to all who participate

1. My favorite thing on my daily to-do list is ________________________.

2. My least favorite thing on my daily to-do list is ________________________
3. I could really do without                           .

4. I would love to have more                                    .

My answers:

1. My favorite thing on my daily to-do list is Blogging.

2, My least favorite thing on my daily to-do list is medicating cats. I feel bad making Millie swallow his thyroid pills and Phoebe squints when I put the thyroid meds on her ear. Polar Bear is the only easy one. I put his thyroid pill in cheese and he eats it right up.

3. I could really do without this humidity we have been having this summer.

4. I would love to have more willpower, I have none especially when it comes to junk food.

Before I go, I want to tell you about two things.

P.S. Annie is having a giveaway for Hartz Delectable Squeezable cats treats and cat toys , you just need to leave a comment on the post. Click here and scroll to the bottom of the post for details.

I also want to let you know that you can get a free Kindle version of Hilary Grossman’s book, Plan Cee. Hurry, this offer is only good until Sunday. Click here.

And be sure to comment on Wednesday’s post for your chance to win this kitty kick stick.

  1. Such purrfect answers! I know exactly what you mean with your answer to #2. Luckily, all of my furbabies are currently relatively young and healthy, and so medicating is not a daily occurrence around here. I remember trying to give Angel Rosie all of her meds every day, though, and she was such a fighter about it that it was like going to battle. And you and I are thinking a lot alike on #3. Bring on autumn! Thank you for hosting this challenge. I always enjoy it!

    1. Thank you. Some cats are extra tough to medicate. I am glad you participate weekly, I always enjoy your answers.

  2. Xerxes was always hard to give medicine to. I have given lots of medicine to lots of sick animals. He was the most difficult animal we have ever had to get to take his medicine. He was also well worth it. Have a great week.

    1. If only there was some way to explain to them that we are trying to help them. I hope you have a great week too.

  3. Pilling cats that don’t want meds is difficult. It used to be that the volunteers had to medicate all the cats at the shelter during their shifts, and when it was 20-30 cats needing pills, liquid meds, eye drops, nose drops, it was awful. Now i just have to deal with my own little terrors here, and i’m glad.

  4. #4 is a great answer. I don’t like medicating our cats either, but am thankful that Benny is such a good and patient boy for it.

  5. Hope it will be okay. We will do our Fill-Ins on Saturday. Come join our blogoversary celebration. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, angel Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo and Cooper Murphy

    1. Sorry we were late to the celebration. You can do the fill-ins anytime until Wednesday, the link is open until then.

  6. My favorite to-do each day is have breakfast and see what my CB furriends are doing.

My least favorite thing is grocery shopping. HOT HOT HOT after you find a parking place and crowded aisles.

I could really do without all the excess heat but most of all the humidity! OMC.

I would love to have another local area to live in. Here it is too noisy.

    1. Thank you for these great answers. I dislike grocery shopping too- I usually make my hubby do it unless I have too many unusual items on the list that he will have trouble finding. It seems like the humidity is getting everyone. Have a nice weekend! XO

    1. I am sorry about your A/C. I hope it gets fixed soon, I know how badly you need it with your asthma. XO

  7. That’s a lot of thyroid meds! My vets wanted me to try the ear ointment but I think Tilly is better with the pills. ~hugs~ I agree about hating humidity. I planned to sit outside to hear the rain on our tin patio roof but the wet air changed my mind. Meanwhile, I like the fill-in questions but need to fill in the blanks on a tragic love story I dreamed last night. ~grin~ My dream self actually stood sobbing (!) at one point watching (reading?) the events unfold. Should be fun writing.

    1. That sounds very interesting, I hope you share what you write. I prefer the pills as long as the kitty takes them willingly. Phoebe is an expert at pretending to swallow and then I would find pills all over.

  8. Will power is a tough one. Even tougher? Compassion for one’s self. I fought anorexia for 18 years (oddly enough, I’m an emotional eater – I use food as love … and when I hurt too badly and decided I didn’t need anything outside myself – denying myself that comfort was the crux of the issue – I essentially was proving over and over to myself that I didn’t have needs). Now that I’ve been in recovery for over 3 years … there are a couple things I learned and know intuitively – but still struggle with in practice … 1) Not dieting – and making sure I eat enough – decreases my urges to binge, 2) Sometimes, it’s okay to have another brownie or more than we absolutely need. Life is short and you might as well enjoy it. This is where the compassion comes in. Instead of hating yourself for not saying no – be thankful for the food you love so much. I’m still working on #2. I berate myself about willpower and what I don’t need … but then again, if I didn’t berate myself over that … I’d probably find something else to berate myself over. There’s always something 🙂

    1. Very wise words. I agree it is hard to have compassion for oneself. I feel like a lazy sloth most of the time. I am glad you got help for anorexia and are doing well. XO

  9. Happy Friday! Good fill-ins this week – you and Annie do a great job coming up with some goodies…….. You’re lucky that you have good luck medicating the cats who need it there – you have so many it would be AWFUL if it was a constant struggle! HAPPY FRIDAY!

    Love, Pam
p.s. Those Hartz Delectable Squeezables are DELICIOUS – at least Teddy thinks so!

    1. Good to know that Teddy likes those- you should enter the contest. Glad you like the fil-ins, I always enjoy your answers. XO

  10. I’ll be glad when the triple digit weather is over. Way too hot for most outdoor things.

Have a fabulous day and weekend. ☺

    1. We haven’t had triple digits, but in the 90’s with humidity stinks. Hope you have a great weekend too!

  11. Very cat centric answers: I love to brush the cat, I hate to clean the litter box which I could really do without. But the last answer, not more cats but I’d like to throw a few dogs into the daily mix.

    1. You could get a self-cleaning litter box, we have one and it is great.

  12. I agree…giving medicine to cats is not fun! Our dogs were easy, but the cats, oh my goodness…how can one little cat out maneuver 3 grown-ups trying to give them a pill! haha! Hope you have a wonderful weekend! 🙂

    1. There is a race car driver named Will Power? That is too funny. I know taking meds is tough, but it is for your own good. Phoebe sends her love, she is resting , but told me to write that. XO and paw kisses she sends too!

      1. Oh yes Phoebe!! hee iss Australian! Here iss a linky to him:

        1. Thank you for the link, we will check it out. I know when Mom puts powder in my food and I refuse to eat it-she tried that with a probiotic, but she didn’t fool me. XO and all my love and paw kisses.

  14. Isabella gets her Flovent treatment daily for her asthma and she purrs right through it. She’s weird.

    Purrs,
    Angel

  15. I watch The Hubby pill Chuck twice a day, and if it wasn’t for that, our kitty would have been long ago gone over The Rainbow Bridge. So, I am HAPPY that Chuck gets pills, and have lost that fear that we’re making him unhappy. He gets over it with a snuggle and smoochies, and he’s still here on earth. That’s the important thing.

    1. I agree, it is more important he gets his pill and is still here than getting a little upset over taking it.

  16. Thank you for the shout out for the kitty treats contest post, Ellen. I appreciate it!

Medicating kitties is a very difficult thing. Xerxes fought us pretty much every step of the way with his medicines. It was awful, adding that suffering to what he was already going through. 🙁

I agree with you about the humidity and the heat, too. It has been horrible here.

Junk food is my downfall when it comes to willpower, too. On some things I can be very strong-willed (read: stubborn!), but put a cheesecake in front of me and all semblance of willpower is out the window. haha

    Have a blessed weekend!

    1. You’re welcome. I hope you get more entries. Sounds like poor Xerxes had a tough time. I want cheesecake now 🙂 I hope you have a blessed weekend too. XO

  17. guyz……we total lee agreez with catz/dawgs N medz……faaaaaaaaaaaaa
N frank lee we due knot getz enuff junx food heer….donutz wood be a grate starter….just sayin ~~~~ 🙂 ♥♥

  18. Your kitty medicating time does sound stressful! I remember when Angel Tara had to have lots of medicine twice a day…it was a nightmare but she was so good about it.

    1. I always feel guilty because they don’t understand why I am torturing them.

  19. Our Barney loved getting his thyroid pill in a little ball of cheese.
To Do list….hmmm…I might make one of those some day.

  20. Giving medicine is one of my least favorite things to do also. As far as junk food willpower goes…I have zero! Now, where is the cake? LOL!

  21. 1. My favorite thing on my daily to-do list is listen to good music, mostly on the radio.

    2. My least favorite thing on my daily to-do list is housecleaning, esp the outside windows…ugh. I truly need to get out there, summertime brings on some kins of insect that makes webs and messes all over them:(
And Pipo spits on the inside of them when he chatters at the birds and critters outside.
    3. I could really do without summer heat…I do not lake being cold, but at least you can add a layer or two, MOL! .

    4. I would love to have more time to blog/comment…and to get into better gardening. .

    1. That should be I do not *like* being cold…

I didn’t have too much trouble giving Angel Minko his meds twice a day…open mouth, drop in pill way in the back, hold mouth closed until a swallow happens…bingo! Pipo gets his arthritis pill and heartworm prevention that way too…at least that is not evfurry day!

I also have zero will power for ice cream…

    2. Thank you for these great answers. I have to clean my windows too, they are long overdue. I like being cold because you can add more layers- when it is too hot, you can only remove so much 🙂 XO
