My Answers:
- My favorite Christmas songs are Happy Christmas and Dominick the Donkey. but I could do without hearing Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer ever again ( it upsets Phoebe).
- My most meaningful Christmas decoration is a set of lights that my parents used on our Christmas tree when I was very young. They were missing for years and I found them when we were selling my childhood home in 2003. I don’t actually use them, I just display them in their box ( they are practically an antique).
3. My favourite holiday treat is Chex party mix with peanuts, pretzels and raisins coated in white chocolate, my friend makes it, I need to get the recipe.
4. A holiday tradition at my house is watching the Christmas episode of Dr. Who on Christmas Night with my hubby.
This photo is a few years old , my Angel Stinky is in front of the tree.
Phoebe will be sharing some of her art tomorrow.
We love Dominick the Donkey too. We play it every night during the holiday season and Mom dances with Allie. Mom is good at the hee-haw part! Dad doesn’t understand…..Mom says it’s an Italian thing!
The Florida Furkids
That is cute that your Mom dances with Allie. I am not even Italian, but I love the song 🙂
I love your lights. What a nice surprise to find them.
I don’t know Dominic The Donkey.
Nice answers.
ENJOY your Friday.
Elizabeth
Thank you 🙂
I enjoyed your fill in the blanks. The Christmas lights are great! ?
Thank you 🙂
Those lights are really cool! The Chex Party mix mix sounds divine 🙂
Thank you. 🙂
Our youngest is a big Dr. Who fan. I am surprised she has not added that episode to our holiday traditions.
You should watch it with her 🙂
Oh, what a great surprise to find your childhood’s Christmas ornaments when you sold the house! They must be very special to you.
They are very special.
One those days mom is going to get some of those Dr. Who DVDs from the library and see what all the fuss is about!!
She should, but don’t bother with the ones from the 1970’s.
I read The Cat on M Head’s Fill-ins before yours and Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer came to my mind too.
It is an annoying song.
Great answers, i’ll have to look up Dominic the Donkey. Those lights from your childhood are neat looking!
Thank you 🙂 You can find the song on youtube 🙂
Love those Christmas lights! Haven’t ever seen anything like them…..someone gave us some antique lights – those bubble ones AND some others that have a little thing that twirls around when the lights get warm……love the old fashioned ornaments!! Also love your fill-ins………we agree on our least favorite Christmas song…………..
Love, Pam
Bubble lights are very cool, we have a night light like that. Those other lights sound interesting. XO and love
Wouldn’t be Christmas without Doctor Who! Those lights are really neat and special–I happy for you that you found them.
Very true 🙂 Thank you.
I’m right with you on #1! Those lights are so neat. I’m so glad you found them! That Chex mix sounds so yummy. I bet it’s addictive. That’s a nice memory of Stinky in front of the tree.
Thank you 🙂 It is addictive, I could eat the whole bag when my friend brings it over.
We always love your fill-ins, and these are especially fantastic and festive! Although it drives my sister nuts when I listen to it, I also love Dominick the Donkey! And that party mix sounds delicious. Anything with white chocolate is a winner in my book. I have somehow never seen Dr. Who, but I love that you and husband have a tradition of watching the Christmas special each year. I love when shows have special episodes for Christmas. Purrs to all of you, and we’ll see you tomorrow!
That is too funny that you drive your sister crazy with that song 🙂 I like special Christmas episodes too 🙂
Ellen, Tell Phoebe to not get upset about Grandma Got Ran Over By a Reindeer. It’s just a song and Grandma is really quite alright. That Chex Party mix sounds kinda good. DH wouldn’t like the raisins, though. I would! You must be a big Dr. Who fan to have a Blue Box in your livingroom. lol We started watching this program sometime over the summer but haven’t completed the series yet. We’ll go back and forth between it and something else. I’m taking a blog break until after the first of the year, so let me say Merry Christmas and may God’s blessings be with you in the coming new year, my friend. Oh yeah, thanks for hosting all the Friday fun! 😉
I have seen the mix with m &m’s instead of raisins. The blue box is just a cardboard flat tat I put there for the photo- it isn’t there all the time. 🙂 I hope you have a wonderful Christmas and a happy, healthy 2017!
I enjoyed reading your answers. Both my daughters are Dr. Who fans. I keep thinking I should check it out and see what it’s all about!
I highly recommend you check it out 🙂
I think Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer has been a popular? choice for least favorite song… It has my vote! And we don’t want Phoebe to be upset. I need to google Dr. Who!
Thank you and Phoebe thanks you too.
Those are some great fill ins. Our favorite movie of course is Rudolph. But you have some good ones too. You all have a great week end.
I like Rudolph too. I hope you have a great weekend too.
Phoebe, I can understand how that song would be upsetting to you! I love the Christmas lights, and what a treasured memory! I love Chex Mix, too. Your version sounds delicious!
Thank you 🙂 It is yummy.
What unique ornaments. I have never seen anything like them. The things from our childhoods have the most meaning. Wow, we can imagine that song really would get Phoebe upset! Ellen, please forgive me for not visiting much. I am only getting to a few blogs each day. I really appreciate everything you did for us and Fiona. I know we got to have a few more weeks with her after she got the meds for the anemia. It perked her up s much. We do have two doses remaining and will pay it forward if we find anyone who needs it. If you hear of anyone, please let me know. You are a good friend, and we so appreciate that. Love and hugs, Janet and the gang
Thank you,no need to apologize for not visiting often. I know how hard it is to lose a beloved furbaby. I am thankful for your friendship. XO and love to you all.
Love the antique set of lights. I remember things like that from my childhood.
I’ll await the forthcoming art. Way cool.
Have a fabulous day. Scritches to the kitties. ☺
Thank you 🙂
How wonderful you found those missing lights. They are beautiful!
Thank you 🙂
Christmas is all about tradition and memories. I’m glad you found the lights!
May all your memories be sweet.
Now I need to find out what Dominick the Donkey sounds like.
xxoo
Thank you 🙂 I think you will like Dominick 🙂 XO
Yum, that Chex mix sounds good!
It is 🙂
My Mom makes the party mix every year too, it sure smells good!
It is good 🙂
The ornaments from your childhood are a treasure to have.
hugs Madi and mom
Thank you 🙂
OH how mom wishes she had ornaments from her childhood. Even as a teenager…she’s love to see them again.
That would be nice.
Those are really cool ornaments. We don’t have any this year. Dat stinker Raena won’t leave nuffin’ alone. We’re lucky we got lights. Anyways, great answers. Big hugs to all.
Luv ya’
Dezi and Raena
Thank you 🙂 I am still waiting for lights, my hubby needs to replace a strand. It takes forever because it is a prelit and has all clips holding them on. XO
I haven’t heard the donkey song in years…must go looking for it! And I must admit, I love Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer…
MOL! 🙂
Oh! Oh! Oh! Oh! Oh! I love my spit balls! They were such a wonderful surprise! Come see our post with a little MOVIE!!!
Meanwhile:
1. My favorite Christmas Song(s) is/are Feliz Navidad, O Holy Night, The Holly and the Ivy, but I could do without hearing Little Drummer Boyever again.
2.My most meaningful Christmas ornament/decoration is an old old Santa, from the early 1900s because it’s from the Human’s grandma’s house.
3. My favourite holiday treat is peppermint ice cream. Well, for the Human. Mine is Gerber’s chick-hen. .
4. A holiday tradition in my house is the Human’s annual New Year’s Eve Party, decorating, turning on all the tree lights and other decoration lights and turning off all the other lights and enjoying all the pretty colors. Oh, and the Christmas Story movie with the freezing tongue and the leg-lamp and the BB gun.
But again, THANK YOU SOOOOOOO MUCH for my toys. It’s all I’ve played with last night and today! .
I am so glad you liked them 🙂 I wondered if it was the yarn or the color when you liked the other one I sent. Thank you for answering the fill-ins. I hope you get your Gerber’s and your human gets her peppermint ice cream 🙂 XO
1. My favorite Christmas Song(s) is/are Happy XMas, I Wish It Could be Christmas Every Day, and Bruce Springsteen’s SC is Coming to Town, but I could do without hearing The Waitresses Christmas Wrapping ever again.
2.My most meaningful Christmas ornament/decoration is obviously is the CK ornament cos it’s ME but TW’s fave is an antique Santa, because it was on her parent’s tree from the time she was a little girl. She also has one of Gramma’s SC decorations that someone made.
3. My favourite holiday treat is egg nip. The peeps look forward to those German pfeffernusse and marzipan stollen.
4. A holiday tradition in my house is overeating. Heh. Open presents Christmas morning and then have milk and cookies for breakfast. MY Christmas tradition is DJing Catmus Eve on Twitter for Black Cat Rescue.
Thank you for your answers. I love Happy Christmas too. I have never heard of Waitresses Christmas Wrapping. Those all sound like nice ornaments.Egg nip must be good 🙂 Have a nice weekend!
Those Little Red Riding Hood lights are cool. I especially love the little house. 🙂
I love Chex mix, too, and yours sounds great.
Angel Stinky is a beautiful kitty.
Have a blessed weekend and a very Merry Christmas!
Thank you. I hope you have a blessed weekend and Christmas too.
The lights are so nice! Can you believe I still have one working strand of lights that my mom used to put on our tree when I was younger?? I had to replace bulbs – because it’s the kind where if one bulb blows, the whole strand goes out. But I don’t put them on the tree anymore because boy do they get hot!!!
I am amazed you still have it and it works. Good idea not to use it if it gets hot.
I have never seen Dr. Who. I know, I am unique.
I love the lights; that is special. Bill has some very old keepsakes like that. My childhood did not do that. HUGS!
If it weren’t for my hubby, I wouldn’t know about Dr Who either and I really like it. I am sorry you don’t have any keepsakes like that. XO
My goodness we missed commenting in a lot of your blog posts…shall we fire the petcretary?? Shucks, then who would clean out our boxes…MOL!
We used to have bubble lights when we were growing up…no idea what happened to those:(
Petcretary has some really old candles; never burned and they are little choir boys. So cute. Goodness knows those are of the same vintage as the bubble lights…almost as old as petcretary.
I love stollen, a German Christmas cake, but its really not on our way of eating anymore…so we have had to make new treats to enjoy. I have been making various paleo friendly cranberry loaves. Mmmm!
A tradition we have in our family since as far as I can remember is going to Church on Christmas morning, even if its not on a Sunday like this year.
While I collect drummers, I detest that song about the drummer boy because I heard it a bazillion times one season when I was working in the mall…
You can cut her some slack being that it was the holidays 🙂 We still have some bubble lights, but we never use them.
I have never had stollen. The cranberries loaves sound good.
