Friendly Fill-Ins Week 294

Hi everyone! Time for the fill-ins. I came up with the first two sentences and my co-host, Lorianne of Four-Legged Furballs came up with the second two. If you didn’t do a post for them, you can also answer in the comment section. Thank you to all who participate. Don’t forget to add your link to the hop so everyone can visit you. The link is open until Wednesday night.

1. When I run out of __________________, I use ________________as a substitute.
2. I don’t understand why________________.
3. _________ is the best time to _________.

4. It seems like I’m the only one who _______________________.
My answers:
1. When I run out of shave gel, I use conditioner as a substitute.  It works just as well.
2. I don’t understand why schools are still open, yet the bank is drive up only and I can’t go in the vet with my cat.  I want schools to close and do online learning so I can see The Great One more often. I guess that is a selfish reason.
3. January is the best time to order seeds for the garden.
4. It seems like I’m the only one who wants schools to close. My niece wasn’t thrilled when I told her I wanted them closed. 🙂
We are also joining Create With Joy’s Friendship Friday and Feline Friday currently hosted by Comedy Plus.

Today is National Dress Your Pet Day so my flashback is from July 2015. Angel Lucy was my top model for years. She loved to dress up and pose.

  1. 1. When I run out of cranberries, I use raisin as a substitute.
    2. I don’t understand why we seem to have made covid such a political issue. Since when do diseases make choices as to whom they make sick?
    3. Right NOW is the best time to start anything…

    4. It seems like I’m the only one in ‘my circles’ who appreciate classical music.

    1. Great answers. Yes, now is the best time for anything. Good point about #2. And yes, classical is an acquired taste- very classy. XO

  2. Opening schools is a biggie around here too. Parents want their kids to be in school and socializing with friends, but I can see your point of view too – you want more time with your nieces! Anyway, hopefully soon things will begin to be brighter with the pandemic and things will MAYBE get more normal all the way around. Love Angel Lucy’s beautiful hat and boa!

    Hugs, Pam

  3. Schools are all open here too and every day there are more getting Covid. The government has changed it’s mind so many times that there is no longer a clear plan to get through this mess.
Angel Lucy looks cute in her hat and boa.

    1. It is odd how rules for COVID are so different everywhere. Thank you. 🙂 Lucy was beautiful. xO

  4. To the best of my knowledge, Florida schools never closed… they modified schedules somewhat, and made online more available, but – at least in our county – schools never closed…. We’ve always gone into banks, etc. instead of the drive up, too.
I should point out that in Florida, our governor told every county to do what was best for their situation, so it might differ elsewhere. Our county has been humming along nicely during this supposed crisis.

  5. Interesting about the conditioner. I shave my legs when I take my bath and just use Dove soap. Hahaha… I understand your thoughts on schools closing so that you can be with The Great One. Angel Lucy♥
    My Fill=Ins…
    1. When I run out of spaghetti, I use shell pasta as a substitute.
    2. I don’t understand why nobody will send me some snow.
    3. December and January are the best times to live in Florida.
    4. It seems like I’m the only one who eats a spoonful of peanut butter with my bowl of chili.
Thank you for the Friday Fill-Ins!

    1. Glad you understand my reasoning. Thanks for these great answers. The pb in chili is unique. I like to dip corn chips in it. I can’t send you snow, but you can come visit us. 🙂 XO

  6. Many of our school’s teachers are out sick. A local middle school had 30% teachers out yesterday. They have gone virtual for 2 weeks. And many our the school bus drivers are sick. Parents are having to get their children to school.
    Hugs Cecilia

    1. My niece has had to drive The Great One to school too because 3 bus drivers just retired in their town. XO

  7. Angel Lucy was a great poser. She had it going on.

Love your fill-ins and now that I’m reading everyone’s fill-ins I can’t understand why my mind was blank. Oh well.

Thank you for joining the Feline Friday Blog Hop.

Have a purrfect Feline Friday and weekend, Ellen. Big hug to you and scritches to all the kitties. ♥

  8. What a wonderful hat. 😀 She wore it well. ~hugs~ I would have been thrilled to do home schooling! It seems I haven’t really changed all that much.

    lol

    ~hugs~

  9. Schools here have had online learning since first of January, but are reopening on Monday. I love the photo! Enjoy your day.

  10. Aww! @ Angel Lucy heheh!

Nice fill-ins some schools are closed here because of staff sickness or isolating because they didn’t close them

    Have aan excitinglytastic weekend 👍

  11. ‘angel’ Lucy lookss like Ta-lulu Bankhead THE actress……

    an {{huggiess}} BellaSita Mum

    1. I am glad your mum agrees about schools. 🙂 And it drives me crazy not to get to go into the vet. My angel Tallulah was named after Tallulah Bankhead. XO

  12. One reason schools are open is kids seem to lean better during in person lessons. The other reason as you found out the parents want those kids in school not at home underfoot all day long!

  13. Ellen, I love your fill-ins and no I don’t think it is selfish to care about the great one. My son’s step sister is a teacher and she is not at all thrilled about going back into the classroom with the major demographic is kids and specifically the age she is teaching! Angel Lucy was a top cat model! She really knew how to wear a hat!

  14. Va va voom for Angel Lucy all dolled up. I guess only people w/o kids want the schools remote. My peeps do too cos it seems to them that’s where the spread is coming from. NYC’s new mayor says the schools are the safest places for the kids and seeing all the grownups w/o masks today I can see why. In school everyone is masked up.

    1. Thank you. I think kids spread the most germs so schools should close- but really, I just want to see my great niece more. 🙂 XO

  15. Mom is in total agreement about the schools. She thinks they should not have gone back after the Christmas break for about three weeks and let this virus settle down. All the school districts here have very high absentee rates for both students and staff and are scrambling to find subs. It is just crazy.

Woos – Lightning, Misty, and Timber

  16. I certainly understand your reasoning for wanting the schools closed, and there’s nothing wrong with that! It seems to me that they should be closed too, maybe this thing would settle down quicker that way.
I’m ready to start ordering seeds too! I just need some time to sit down and inventory what we have left from last year.

    1. Thank you. I agree it may slow things down. Have fun with the seed orders. 🙂 XO
