Friendly Fill-Ins Week 154

Hi everyone! About the cat I was trying to rescue: Thank you to all who tried to help me with transportation. I got a call yesterday and was told a local home was found for him. It is better for him to stay local because he is afraid of people and it would be a long trip. I am thankful his life has been spared and he now has a forever home.

Time for the Friendly Fill-Ins. Please leave your link (at bottom of post) here or at my co-host’s Four-Legged Furballs. You can also answer in the comment section. Thank you to all who participate. Don’t forget to add your link to the hop so everyone can visit you.

1. I got my first cell phone in ____________.

2. I wish the word __________________ could be removed from the English language.

3. I’ll never outgrow _________.

4. _________ make(s) me feel old.
My answers:
1. I got my first cell phone in 1991. My hubby ( boyfriend at the time), got it for me. It was only for emergencies, service was very sparse and it came in a huge bag and plugged into the cigar lighter in the car. There was no charging a battery.
2. I wish the word ma’am could be removed from the English language. I am not a fan of hashtag either- it is a freakin’ pound sign. 🙂
3.I’ll never outgrow stuffed animals, games and needing my mommy.
4. Being called ma’am makes me feel old.
We are also joining Create With Joy’s Friendship Friday and Feline Friday currently hosted by Comedy Plus. We are also joining FiveSibes Flashback Friday.
For my flashback, I have a photo of Trouble on her first day with us last year, April 21st.
Yes, I forgot her Gotcha Day. Poor kitty.  Happy Belated Gotcha Day Trouble!
The A-Z Blogging Challenge, we are up to the letter W. W is for water. I want to remind you if you give your cat tap water to be careful.I am lucky to have a well, but if I had water from town, I would purchase bottled water for us and the cats. A lot of times there is rust in local water from cleaning fire hydrants, there is also a lot of chemicals to keep it free of bacteria.
This week is also the Pet Photo Fails Blog Hop hosted by Melissa’s Mochas, Mysteries and Meows in memory of Roby Sweet. Joanie wasn’t looking at me and Sammy’s eyes are lasers.

  1. And here i thought it was the number sign! Yes, that little symbol has several names, and hashtag is the one that’s irritating.

It’s great to hear the cat got a local home.

Trouble looks like there’s no way she could cause any trouble at all. That’s a funny photo fail.

    Thanks for hosting the fill-ins!

  2. 1. 1997 and it was for work
    2. tRump
    3. La mer (the sea) or felines
    4. Doing my taxes, there is no joy in it.

  3. Love this weeks fail, two in one! Mrs H gets lots of unintentional (possibly intentional) profile and back shots of me, MOL and occasionally some laser eyes, too.

  5. My Momma’s been gone for over seven years … and she was really sick for a good ten years before that … but still … there are times I want to scream for her …

  6. Meowser Mis. Ellen! Thank you and Ms. Lorianne for hosting this blog hop. I hope you’re having a wonderful week and think you had great answers.

  7. Oh what great fill-ins…..I’m not fond of “Ma’am” either although I tell myself it’s just someone being polite – makes me feel older than old. I’m really not “up” with most social media and that hashtag thing means zip to me. I do with they wouldn’t call it that though!!!

    Hugs, Pam

  8. I’m glad it worked out with the rescue cat. My first cell phone was around 92 or 93. We were part of an experiment where GTE replaced our home phone service with their new digital cell phones. They were actually small enough to fit in my pocket if I jammed it in there and let the top third hang out. 🙂

    1. I am glad it worked out too. That is cool you were part of that experiment.

  9. Great answers. I can’t remember my first cellphone but I know it was one of those flip top type…I think. Have a great weekend!

  10. Happy Gotcha Day Trouble. We enjoyed your fill-in answers too. I do wish that kitty would have made his way to you but we’re glad he got a forever home.

  11. Love your fill-ins. Thank you for co-hosting the fun.

I agree with you about the water. Better safe than sorry.

Thank you for joining the Feline Friday Blog Hop.

Have a purrfect Feline Friday and weekend, Ellen. Scritches to all the kitties. ♥

  12. Happy Belated Gotcha Day, Trouble!
    Hashtag is a good choice.
    My Fill-ins:
    1. I got my first cell phone in 1995.
    2. I wish the word cray-cray could be removed from the English language.
    3. I will never outgrow my love for the ocean. It brings me happiness and peace.
    4. My popping joints and misbehaving back make me feel old.
    Thanks Ellen!

    1. Trouble thanks you. And I thank you for these great answers. I don’t like that word either. I am glad you live near the ocean so you can always be happy. My hubby has a lot of popping joints too. Have a nice weekend! XO

  13. Happy Gotchaversary, Trouble! A year, already?!?
Seems to me, that Dave Letterman used to say ‘hashbrown’ instead of hashtag or pound sign, so maybe that’s a way to make fun if it?
And, on another light note, I say ‘mayhem’ instead of ma’am…again, it’s a way to turn it into a chuckle! Sure, people may think that I’m crackers, but so what? Maybe I am…

    1. Trouble thanks you. THose are good ways to change the words 🙂 I am crackers too .

  14. I added your book – I am not a Skunk – to my Kindle enjoyment! I haven’t been able to read it yet but I will, soon.

My first cell was one of those big clunky ones – don’t remember when I got it. I don’t like the word ma’am either unless it’s “yes ma’am”! 🙂 I love stuffed animals and own a few teddy bears. I lost my mom in 1968 and will always miss her. I don’t like anything that makes me feel old! So, I’ve learned to move on from it. Rock on!

    1. Thank you for buying Emmy’s book. I am sorry you didn’t have more time with your mom. XO

  15. Trouble sure has grown ! Happy belated Gptcha Day sweetie !

Glad things worked out for that other kitty !

  16. Great news for that little boy! And happy belated gotcha day, Trouble!

Our mom has gotten used to “ma’am” (a common expression here with really no regard to age) but is seriously offended by some cutesy 12-year-old clerk calling her “young lady.”

  17. I’m so glad that kitteh found a local home. Trouble, you are such a lovely cat.

I too love stuffies. I have a few small ones here. Since I’m Southern, ma’am is just a way of life here.

  18. Okay, I accept your challenge. ~hehehe~ I think that’s what it is.
    1. Now I’m not sure when I got my cell phone, but I think it was in 1992. I know this cuz when I met my hubby all I had was my pager & he taught me the alphabet phrasing was cool. You know 1 is A, 2 is B, etc. and you can make words. We got quite good at it. hahahaha
    2. I wish the 4 letter word could be removed. It’s vile and disgusting & especially when a woman uses it. Very trampy I think. A woman sounds like a tramp (well, to me).
    3. I guess I could say I’ll never out grow my husband, but especially my babies. I love my babies and my pup too for that matter. Now even though my babies are now 38 in June & 39 in the same month & also December has a 47 coming up and my oldest shall be 50 in July, but she refuses. She’ll be staying 49 for a very long time. ~snicker~ Been there done that!!! Sorry honey, but it cannot be done. All my children look like babies though.
    4. Oh darn, well when my husband plays (he’s in a band/plays guitar). I get up to dance with my friend they dance today’s dance, but I’m still dancing 70’s to 90’s pending on the song. Of course I’ve tried to blend in, but sometimes they stop & look at me and snicker so I snicker right back… I love dancing, but at the moment I cannot due to back surgery. It’ll be a while before I can dance again. It’s a shame…. it made me happy. Have a great weekend my friend! hugs

    1. Thank you for these great answers. I am going to be 50 in July too 🙂 I have accepted it being there is nothing to do about it.
I don’t like that 4 letter word either. And I think it is great that you get up and dance. I have always been to shy. Have a wonderful weekend. XO

  19. Happy belated Gotcha Day Trouble! Your photo fail i still super cute. We have a whole house filter for our water and the kitties have fountains with filters. Good tip for others though. XOCK, angel Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, angel Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo, Cooper Murphy and Sawyer

  20. Mom agrees with your 2 and 4!
And I shall sing the song for Trouble!

  21. Over here they call women of a certain age “Madam” and now that my mum gets called this a lot instead of “Miss” it makes her feel old and sad. I just tell her that she’s older and wiser now, which is so true!

    Happy Gotcha Day Trouble!

  22. OMC I think you’re in big trouble now, miss Ellen…I still may call you miss Ellen, can’t I, I mean, it’s not ma’am and you can call me miss Binky in return… MOL 😀 but I can manage to call you Ellen. I will do that 😉
Pawkisses for a Happy Gotcha Day Trouble🎉🎉🎉🐾😽💞

  23. Happy Gotcha Day Trouble! And Joanie, you look so girlish in your skirt!

  24. We had one of those “bag phones” too. We got it to take to our camp. We had to climb the small mountain at the back of the campground in order to get it to work! LOL

  25. Your tapwater sounds a little harsh. When I lived in Oakland, I’d have to let the water run every once in a while to get the rust out. You made me laugh when you said a hashtag is a pound sign. that’s how I think of it too.

    1. I am happy to have a well. Glad I am not the only one who thinks it is a pound sign.

  26. Oh, you brought back some memories when you mentioned “ma’am”. I remember the first time I was called “ma’am”, and I was not all that happy about it. I was a freshman in college, 18 years old, and an elderly gentleman thought I worked at the store where I was shopping and started asking me for help, all while calling me “ma’am”. And I can very much so relate to your #3. I will also never outgrow needing my mom’s help while trying to navigate life. And hello to adorable Trouble, Joanie, Sammy, and Sammy’s laser eyes!
