Friendly Fill-Ins Week 153

Hi everyone! Time for the Friendly Fill-Ins. Please leave your link (at bottom of post) here or at my co-host’s Four-Legged Furballs. You can also answer in the comment section. Thank you to all who participate. Don’t forget to add your link to the hop so everyone can visit you.

1. An Easter ( or Passover) memory that  I have is ________________________.

2. I hope to purchase ________________ this year.

3. When the days are warm, I _________.

4. If the Easter Bunny visited my house, _________.

My answers:

1. An Easter memory that I have is the priest coming to my grandparents’ house to bless the Easter food when I was very young. Now we have to bring the food to the church hall to get it blessed which we do every year. It is a beautiful tradition.

2. I hope to purchase a sleepypod this year to use for bringing my cats to the vet.

3.When the days are warm, I open the windows to let in some fresh air and give the kitties window whiffies.

4. If the Easter Bunny visited my house, he would think another Easter Bunny had already been here. I am stockpiled for Easter with bags of Dove chocolate and white chocolate m&m’s.

We are also joining Create With Joy’s Friendship Friday and Feline Friday currently hosted by Comedy Plus. We are also joining FiveSibes Flashback Friday.
We want to wish all our Jewish friends a Happy Passover. Here are some Passover photos of Angel Phoebe
The A-Z Blogging Challenge, we are up to the letter Q. Q is for questions. Always question why the vet is recommending vaccines and treatments. For example, a cat doesn’t need a FELV vaccine if he/she is indoor only and doesn’t live with a FELV positive cat. Some places just want to make money.
And don’t forget to get your free Kindle version of I Am Not a Skunk, it is free until Saturday. click here

  1. Asking questions is a great idea. Sometimes it can get a good discussion going about best practices.

Being prepared already for the holiday is a great idea, i am still trying to get it together.

Thanks so much for hosting the fill ins, have a great Friday!

  2. I stalked contests for a SleepyPod for YEARS and I finally won one last year – right after I’d bought another carrier (NOT SleepyPod). The round beds are a bit awkward to lug around but I love it and so does the vet we take the cats to!

  3. Hi Ellen,

David wasn’t able to post this week, either. He is having a hard time of it right now. I’m sorry. Hopefully he can be back to the fill-ins soon.

I agree wholeheartedly about questioning the vet on things. I question everything and not just with the vet.

    Angel Phoebe is adorable. 🙂

I think the food blessings is a wonderful tradition, too.

I wish that we could open our windows here, but the cigarette smoke would kill us all.

I might disguise myself as the Easter Bunny, now that I know you have all that chocolate up there at your house. haha

Have a blessed weekend and Easter!

    1. I am sorry David is not doing well this week. He is in my prayers. I am sorry you can’t enjoy fresh air 🙁
      Have a blessed Easter. XO

  4. Great filling in today and adorable photos of Angel Phoebe celebrating the season too. I bet your house looks like the “inside” of an Easter basket – I’m sure The Great One will be there!! Hope you all have a wonderful Easter.

    Hugs, Pam and Teddy too

  5. Ellen,

We always ask God to bless our food before we eat. We also thank Him for giving it to us. It’s hard to imagine in our world that they are people who do not have enough to eat but there are folks out there suffering. I think on the days when I was a kid, my parents didn’t have a lot of money and our dinners very basic – pinto beans and cornbread, often times sliced white bread and I felt blessed with what was placed in front of me. Although I wished things were different, I don’t think that I ever complained about it. I did secretly vow to never have pinto beans when I was an adult. Guess what? I love pinto beans and find great comfort in a hot bowl with cornbread. 🙂

I love feeling the gentle breeze of spring come into the home and am very much looking forward to our next home having well-insulated windows where we can raise them without fear of bugs getting inside. I remember raising my bedroom window as a kid and I never thought about bugs or anything coming in, all I cared about was the fresh soothing breeze. That was so nice, too.

You have the goodies at your house. I’m coming over now! I love Easter candy! Who am I kidding, I love candy no matter what the occasion is and who needs one to eat chocolate? Not me. 😉

I’m linking up today and my A2Z post is ready along with my fill-in responses. Have a Good Friday!

    1. I love candy every day 🙂 I realize how fortunate we are to have plenty to eat. XO

  6. Angel Phoebe’s Passover photos are very sweet. I am happy you shared them. I love the tradition of the blessing of the food for Easter. I googled the sleepypod… very nice. I like the yurts I see on kitten rescue sites, the kittens and cats seem to love them!
    My Fill-ins…
    1. My Easter (or Passover memory) that I have is my last Easter with my Mom. I just didn’t know how special it would be. She loved Easter and always did Easter baskets for CH and me even though we were BIG kids. My last Easter with her she gave me Suds Bunny. He got blogged about fairly often. I still have him, he made the trip to Florida and sits at the top of the couch in the office where I am right now… 🙂
    2. I hope to purchase tile for the lanai this year.
    3. When the days are warm, I like to walk the beach… feet in the ocean.
    4. If the Easter Bunny visited my house, I would think my Mom had something to do with it!

    1. Thank you for your fill-in answers. I enjoyed them. It sounds like your mom was very sweet. I can see why you treasure Suds Bunny.
I had to look up lanai 🙂 I hope you have a wonderful Easter. XO

  7. I love your fill-ins and especially the Priest coming to bless the food. What a wonderful tradition that is.

Love the shots of Angel Phoebe.

Thank you for co-hosting Friendly Fill-ins.

Thank you for joining the Feline Friday Blog Hop.

Have a purrfect Feline Friday and weekend, Ellen. Scritches to all the kitties. ♥

  8. TW was raised CATholic and never heard of a priest coming to the house to bless food. We’ve always wanted a Sleepypod too but I prolly wouldn’t use it. TW loves to open the windows to let fresh air in after the long winter. And, yes, the peeps bought some Dove eggs even though they rarely if ever buy Dove. We always question the vet too. I don’t get no more vaccines after a bad reaction and I’m an indoor kitty.

  9. Mom loves it when she can open the windows and have the screens in the doors. But Dad’s allergies make that almost impossible to do when he is home:(

We bet your family is going to be thrilled with all that stockpile of chocolate.

Woos – Lightning, Misty, and Timber

  10. Opening the window and letting in spring or summer air always is wonderful.
Blessing food sounds like a wonderful easter tradition.
    Have a nice easter weekend!

  11. An Easter memory that I have is getting out our pretty Easter dresses and hats for church. I remember a yellow straw hat with a ribbon hanging down the back with yellow daisies on it. 🙂

  12. Awww, we loved seeing Angel Phoebe. We hope you get a Sleepypod. Lexy just loves her and it makes it easy for Mommy to get her to the vet. I can’t go in it because I pee. Don’t tell anyone, though.

    1. Thank you 🙂 Millie always poops in the carrier so he would not be able to use it either. 🙂

  13. I love those sweet photos of Passover kitties. I enjoy seeing them every year here. Happy Easter dear furriends. On Sunday, He is Risen and we rejoice.

  14. 1. An Easter ( or Passover) memory that I have is _Easter Sunrise Service at an Eastern Orthodox Church in Glendora Ca. as a child…and a return visit, a few years ago, as an adult.

    2. I hope to purchase bus tickets to cities outside Houston, a few times, for some walking/writing, adventures, this year.

    3. When the days are warm, I like to take walks or bike rides.

    4. If the Easter Bunny visited my house, the cats response would definitely make things interesting.

    1. Thank you for your answers. I enjoyed them. I hope you get to travel outside of Houston soon.

  15. Our Mama’s fink alike cause her hopes to purchase a sleepy pod fur me too and her has had da window open all day cause of da beautful weather.

Hope you have a very blessed weekend 🙂

    xoxo,
    Matt & Matilda

  16. A Sleepypod is definitely something I would like to purchase as well. I wonder if my anti-carrier, anti-vet girl Eddy would do better using one of those. We’ve finally been having us some window whiffies these days. The kitties and pup Astrid love it. We hope you all get some window whiffies weather, too! What an adorable angel Phoebe was and always will be! And there is most certainly nothing wrong with questioning anything that makes you feel uncertain at the vet. None of my kitties get FeLV vaccines. Purrs!

  17. You have an Easter meal? And you have to take it to church to be blest? What is an Easter meal??? Never mind, hope ya’ll enjoyued it. Big hugs

    Luv ya’

    Dezi and Raena

    1. Yes, we have ham ( I don’t eat ham though) plus traditional Polish soup that you add kielbasa, eggs, mushrooms and potatoes too. XO
