Awww…Monday

Hi everyone! We are joining Comedy Plus’ Awww….Monday.

Joanie and Gremmie are posing with two of the books I am currently reading.

Magic Words : What to Say to Get Your Way by Jonah Berger is really interesting. Kids learn at a young age the magic word of please gets them what they want. There are many other magic words as well. The author writes about many studies that prove how rephrasing something with a verb instead of a noun can get someone to do something. I am hoping I can use some of this advice to get the hubby to finish decluttering. 🙂

And All the Beauty in the World: The Metropolitan Museum of Art and Me by Patrick Bringley is a good read too. The author gave up a career to work as a guard at a museum after his brother passed away in his 20’s .  He had grown up going to museums with his mom so he felt a call to work there. If you are an art lover, you will appreciate the sketches and explanations of a lot of the art. And even if you don’t know much about art like me, you will still enjoy the story.

Rosie will be here tomorrow with all the latest news including a photo of Gremmie and his new friend. And some baby photos of Rusty and Rudy.

  1. Those sound like really interesting books! Especially the one about the art museum guard. For awhile while in college I wanted to work at an art museum while making art in my off hours. XO

  2. Mama is reading Michael Mewshaw’s book on Graham Greene, “My Man in Antibes; Getting to Know Graham Greene” and it’s funny and lively. Michael has written many, many books and novels and is a very good author. We’ll take a look at the first one, as words are so important and how the are strung together. De-cluttering makes room for new, exciting items and experiences to begin cluttering again, haha.

  3. Your Mom always reads the most interesting books…..! We’re anxious to hear the “scoop” from Rosie tomorrow – she SEES everything that goes on there and it’s always interesting.

    Hugs, Teddy

  4. Your second book sounds like a story that I truly would enjoy reading. Currently I’m reading a book about Great Britain in 1944. There are so many things to learn about the world through a book.

  5. Nice to see Joanie and Gremmie helping to introduce your books on Monday. Joanie is Aww Worthy… Gremmie too. Looking forward to Rosie and the latest news. A new friend for Gremmie?! Baby photos of Rudy and Rusty. That will be fun!

  6. Let me know if this book of magic words works. LOL There is power in the way words are phrased and having the right attitude to go along with what you say is a huge boost.

  7. Joanie is so cute. Sounds like a couple of great reads.

Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.

Have a fabulous Awww Monday and week, Ellen. Scritches to all the kitties. XO ♥

  8. Both books sound interesting, especially the one about the art. I can’t wait to get the scoop from Rosie.

  9. Still aren’t un-de-cluttered … remember that with “my hubs” … hey, if I can still find it will send you LINK to article from Washington Post on “the clutter thing”, maybe it will have a few ideas to prod him forward!

  10. Charlee: “Ooh, a book of magic words? Nice! Let me know if you find anything in there I can use to get Chaplin to be less of a jerk.”
    Chaplin: “A jerk? Moi?”
Charlee: “Vous. Why do you think Oona runs up and tackles you all the time?”
Chaplin: “Because I’m the fun one.”
    Charlee: “Riiiiight.”
Oona: *RUNS UP AND TACKLES CHAPLIN*

  11. I know the “Met” very well, going there a lot as a kid and then visiting for specific exhibitions as an adult. Definitely sounds like a book I would enjoy.

  12. I enjoyed “All the Beauty in the World: The Metropolitan Museum of Art and Me” by Patrick Bringley; listened to the audiobook.
An homage to his brother, and to everyone who was on one path, but found another.

  14. Joanie and Gremmie look so so smart and sassy with their books. I am a fan of RaeAnne Thayne and read most everything she writes. My stack of nooks was dwindlng now it is back up to at least a dozen waiting to read. With the heat moving in here is where I will be with a cold drink and good book in my hand.

  15. I’m still so very sorry about the loss of your sister. ~hugs~ I’m a giant child, too. lol At the farmer’s market a few weeks ago my husband bought me a tiny knitted octopus for my dashboard.

    1. Thank you. I am glad there are other giant children out there. 🙂 I hope we get to see a photo of the octopus. XO
