My answers:

1. My favorite Dr. Seuss book is The Cat in the Hat. ( I am sure you all could have guessed that).

2. The most interesting person that I have ever met is my husband’s father, he was an inventor of hydraulic construction equipment with several patents.In addition, he was an avid gardener and a great cribbage player. I wish I had more time with him, he passed away in 1999 at the age of 91.

3. Besides books by Dr. Seuss,my favorite book as a child was Dolly Madison’s Surprise. It was my mom’s book as a child and I still have it.

4. Lately, I have been working on crochet projects for the A-Z Challenge in April.

  1. Well, I am not surprised by your two book choices. You and your mon are close, so it is wonderful that you have her book! Your father-in-law sounds like my brother-in-law: smart, industrious, and creative. We miss him. Your A-Z sounds fun! I need to get mine going! HUGS!

  2. Love cribbage…used to play with my dad, and now Tom and I play. Never read Seuss books as a kid. Seems unimaginable doesn’t it? What will you be reading today.   4. Not familiar with “Dolly Madison’s Surprise” but how wonderful that you still have it! Seuss has always been a favorite of my Mom’s – the FUN of the books was what she remembers most. It’s nice that your most interesting person to meet was your husband’s Dad – I’m sure he was a very smart man to have invented something so important like he did. We hope all of you stay safe from this BIG Nor-easter storm!

  13. The Cat in a Hat is a favourite! I used to read those fun Dr. Seuss books to my kids, too. Your father-in-law sounds like a gem. If only we could have more time with the people we love.

  17. I think “The Cat in the Hat” was the intro to Dr. Seuss for many of us, and how we grew to love him and his wonderful characters and rhymes. I have so many passages from his books memorized from reading them over and over to my son!

    Your father-in-law sounds very talented, and people with great minds are always fascinating! I bet he kept you on your toes playing Cribbage!

    How wonderful that you have a book from your mother’s childhood, what a treasure. I now find myself wondering if my mother had storybooks as a child, they were so very poor when she was growing up. Once our parents have passed we realize how much we really don’t know about them and their lives.

    I also loved, “The Cat In The Hat.” I think I loved all of the action in that story and The Cat, Thing One and Thing Two were so mischievous.

    My favorite book besides Dr. Seuss, was “Charlotte’s Web.”

    Lately I’ve been working on: A children’s book which is written in rhyme, but in a different style than Dr. Seuss and it’s written for younger children. Children between the ages of two and four. When I started the manuscript, I just began to write in rhythm…because I was thinking of my audience. I didn’t plan it that way, it just got away with me. 🙂

  23. Few authors are as fun to read as Dr. Seuss! I still enjoy reading his work – though not out-loud … my tongue just doesn’t work right – with sometimes funny results.

  28. I loved Dr. Seuss books (among many orhers) when I was a child. How neat that you have a favorite childhood book and that it was also your mom’s. It’s a shame you didn’t know your father-in-law long, but you were blessed to have him.

  29. I honestly don’t remember a lot of my childhood books, though I do remember Peter Rabbit being a favorite.

I remember being fascinated by all of them but Cat in the Hat and The Grinch were my favs. My Aunt Flossie was always my fav person and very interesting as was my dad but I think most people are capable of being interesting, one reason I like to tease it out of them with photography. The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe was an incredibly popular book in grade school and after. I’ve been working on taxes and refunds and going nuts doing it. Been waiting since the end of January for a form from the DOD and found out just today they had the wrong address, Arrrgghhh.

  39. 1. My favorite Dr. Seuss book is a hard choice…I have almost all of his books for children. I think, likely the Horton ones.

    2. The most interesting person I have ever met is a pastor, whom I only got to know for a few years. He passed away at the age of 78 after suffering for many years with a blood disorder, but he kept on serving congregations even after he retired. My oldest son ‘revered’ him and was devastated by his passing. Even at age 5. I can still hear his voice when we read certain Bible passages…

    3. Besides books by Dr. Seuss, my favourite book as a child were the Highlights compilations into books with various stories. But my fave pastime was to go through all the encyclopedias and other science books my Aunt & Uncle had in their apartment. I still like to pore in old science journals and National Geographic magazines. Hubby loved the old Popular Mechanics and Popular Science magazines…and we, (being hubby, me and my brother), all have lots of fun with all those silly Mad Magazines, MOL!! .

    4. Lately, I have been working on trying to find a new way to make cards and mementos because the site I used is not in any kind of functional form right now. I cannot even change my own templates:(
    I can make simple ones. but they just do not do the job too well in my opinion…

  42. Can you believe that I didn’t actually read The Cat in the Hat until I was an adult? That one slipped me by for some reason, but do think it’s great.
    If your father in law was good at cribbage then he must have been a wonderful man, only the best people play crib.
    I can’t wait for the A to Z and to see what everyone’s posts are about – I’m intrigued by yours already.
