Ten Things of Thankful

Hi everyone! I am joining Athena’s Caturday Art Blog Hop and Ten Things of Thankful. This week, I am copying Messymimi. Last week, she featured Halloween decorations as her thankful and I thought that was a great idea. I actually didn’t even feel like decorating this year because of losing Phoebe, but I decided Phoebe would not want me to be sad and my husband enjoys the decorations too so I got everything out. For my art, I made collages out of the photos of my decorations to save space.

  1. Giant eyeballs
  2. Department 56 blown glass eyeballs that my mom bought me years ago.
  3. Halloween wreath that I made a few years ago, I also made them for my niece, mom, sister and several friends.
  4. The first house of my Halloween village, my mom bought it for us in 1992.

5. Blue plastic pumpkin my hubby bought me last year because I like blue- it is great to store yarn in.

6. Old bottle I decorated with poison stickers.

7. Pumpkin my friend had a cat lasered on it.

8. Frankenstein, a friend gave to us when she was moving. For the first week he is out, I get startled several times when I see him.

9. This is an older photo, but Spooky posed with my stuffed black cats.

10. Thankful I got to help the great one decorate with Halloween window clings yesterday.

  1. What a wonderful and FUN “Ten” thankfuls! Love all the decorations – Halloween is a really great occasion to leave behind sadness and go nuts. We all need a little FUN in our lives and Halloween gives us a chance to do it!!

    Hugs, Pam and Teddy too

  2. Sure looks like lots of Halloween decorations. We really like the pumpkin with the cat lasered on it. They are all terrific decorations. Have a good week end.

  3. I love that one of Spooky with the stuffy cats. And I have not seen any stuffy black cats or any cats as sweet as those. They are better crafted than that which is generally out there. XX

  4. I am so glad you decided to go ahead and decorate. Phoebe is surely smiling down on you as you enjoy Halloween. And your decorations are fantastic! I just love that you have a Halloween house/village! I have a Christmas village, but I will definitely have to start collecting houses for a Halloween village. Have a beautiful day!

    1. Thank you. Michael’s Craft store has all kinds of Halloween village pieces. I hope you had a great day too.

    1. I am not afraid of your germs sweet boy. I am glad you are getting a little better every day, sorry it takes so long to get better though. XO

          1. I am glad you are both resting and taking care of each other. xO ans paw pats too and some chin scritches for you

  6. I have to say that is the first time I’ve ever seen a blue jack-o-lantern! lol I can see a mass of orange ones sitting around it yelling, “Breathe … Breathe!” My wife loves decorating for Halloween. Generally, she’s working when the Trick or Treaters come around. After one year of giving out candy to the kids giving me a weird look, I decided to forego that in the future. Now, you’ll find me driving my car until the allowed time is over before going home. lol Good post!

    1. Breathe, breathe πŸ™‚ Good one. I would just turn out the lights and hide, not drive around πŸ™‚ Thank you, glad you liked the post.

  7. I know your heart won’t be totally in it, but if dad loves the decorations, go for it. * hugs *

I know you will miss Phoebe a lot, I got so used to her being here when we visited.

I love Frankenstein – he looks amazing!

  8. Excellent! I love your Halloween decorations. It’s amazing what “getting in the spirit” of any holiday can do πŸ™‚ Thanks for spreading the fun!
#6 makes me laugh and #7 is very cool.

  9. ‘cellent TToT! The theme’d idea is rather fun and this one is no exception. Good job getting the real cat in the photo with the stuffed animals. Must have had a shutter speed of, like 1/1000000000000000ths
    (lol*)

I agree that Phoebe would have wanted you to not feel sad (or anymore than you couldn’t help).

*…sorry, laughing at my own joke.

  10. Very festive ten thankfuls! I used to sell Dept 56 houses and I bought a bunch of them! It would take a bit to not be startled when I saw Frankenstein, too!

  11. As a kid, we used to tape construction paper cats, bats and pumpkins to the front windows of the house. When we kids would bring home our candy from trick-or-treating, we’d pour it all out in the living room…then trade back and forth (my brother, sister and I). My father would swoop down and grab candy here and there, and we’d squawk, being so selfish with our candy stash!

  12. What are Department 56 blown glass eyeballs? Are they different from regular blown glass? (I’m sure you’re right about Phoebe. She was a very sweet cat.)

    1. Department 56 is just a brand that makes Christmas and Halloween items, but the blown glass is the same as any other kind of ornament like that.

  13. This was such a fun and cheery post, and I was thankful to see you beginning to find your way back from the tremendous sadness of loosing your beloved Phoebe. You are right that she would want you to be happy and to remember the joy she brought to your life! I love Halloween too, it’s a fun celebration and I can see you do your house up with style! I can just imagine walking in on Frankenstein at night and jumping out of my skin!! I love the Studio 56 eyeballs too, haven’t seen those before! May you find many reasons to smile in the days and weeks ahead, and may you indulge in a few Halloween treats too! πŸ™‚ xoxo
